Matthew's Gospel does not spend a lot of time explaining the theological rationale behind Jesus' death, but in instituting the Lord's Supper (also known as Communion or the Eucharist), Jesus helps us understand that rationale. And in so doing, he illustrates why the story of his life, death, and resurrection is good news for humanity.
