Nightmare of the labyrinth Human afraid of Nightmare Vestige Fei in Dragon form Kumo Desu ga, Nani ka? episode 17 So I'm a Spider, So What? episode 17 蜘蛛ですが、なにか?episode 17
It's an egg laying skill she got from killing her mother. Her mother didn't need a partner to reproduce, and because Kumiko got her skills from killing and eating her. Now Kumiko doesn't need someone either. She also got several other skills from Mother. In the anime these aren't mentioned, just written in the stats. So you wouldn't notice unless you paused the episode and read the stats at the right time.
Old Man: It won't attack you unless you attack it. It might heal you too. Kid: What kind of sick demented freak are we dealing with here? *Kumo fishing in a web boat*
Hey.. dont blame the spider..if i was in same shoes, i would do the same.. What every other normal creature would do.. go outside.. take a swim in sea.. go fishing.. heck perhaps build a house.. or.. better yeat study science.. I be heck of a spider ^^
I love how everyone in the world once knew you had to burn spider webs, but after the Nightmare nobody does it anymore out of terror. She single handedly changed it.
I mean, if you were building a house and someone burnt it for no reason then of course you'll get mad, it only makes sense because Kumoko spent alot of time weaving those webs only to be burnt down by adventurers.
@@drunklord9471 I don’t think he meant it like she was doing a bad thing, he meant that it’s kinda strange that you think about how one little spider changed how everyone views getting rid of a simple spider web ever since, it’s very impressive, but it is Kumoko after all so
@@buggart It was meant to be a figurative statement, although she still was a fairly small compared to certain branches of her species in that world, obviously though she’s huge compared to any of her real world counterparts
@@drunklord9471 the reason would probably be that those spiders were a danger for humans. She also killed (and ate) lots of humans as well. So they were kinda justified to kill the monsters (and nests) from their point of view.
@@MainGoldDragon okay, so these are spoilers if you haven't gotten to that part yet so stop reading when you see this to avoid spoilers, okay, so basically kumoko and classmates died because administrator D was in the classroom posing as a fellow classmate, the reason they died due to her being there is because the previous demon lord and hero used spatial magic to attempt to kill D while she was there, which of course didn't work because D is a god and was only posing as a student, resulting in the deaths of everything in the classroom. Side note: i am unsure if it was actually spatial magic or some other kind, it was just what came to mind.
In her human form she’s the second most dangerous creature on the planet. (Depending on how you look at it, you could also make a strong argument for third.)
Spoiler... 《edit misspelled name》 Kumoko is not wakaba, she is that spider at beggining in classroom. And admin D is the actual watanabe. The sudden explosion was attack on D. They failed so D reincarneted her classroom and gave Kumoko part of her soul to take her place. As Shiro (human form/arachne god) she is on par with dragon administrator (forgot his name cause japanese).
Well.....Can't argue with that. Basic difference I felt was because the hero party believed was they were shown. But Kumoko had to survive. And by survive I mean 0.5 hp health drop multiple time survive.
@@thechanandler5091 Tbf to Shun, Kumoko's faction helped his brother brainwash his sister to kill their father and incriminate him. They also killed his brother and whenever he encounters one of them, they act like he's dumb for not realizing things, but don't even bother explaining anything and act like enemies. It's hard to see Kumoko and the others as anything but enemies from Shun's perspective, because they usually act as such
And aftee reading the web novel i get angry at how busted this "hero" plot armor and revival skills truly are. Managing to (indirectly) kill Kyouya with full deadly sin skill that made him the strongest being inside the system (stronger than Ariel) and destroy the _goddess_ main body of Kumoko/White/Shirou by the sheer power of impossible luck is total bs.
@@imtoolazyforaprofilepic4961 that's why Kumoko/White trying hard to delete the hero title from existence. Also read the LN, WB is similar, but not the same story
@@makotomachiyuki wait the webnovel has a different story? Edit: I asked cuz I'm reading it for free and if the webnovel has a different story I'll just buy the light novels
Its so funny how just like goblin slayer they take whats considered the weakest monsters and completely change the worlds point of view on them, the spider becoming a legend that makes ppl fear webbings and goblins teaching people how vile they can be, such an amazing spin
Spiders have never been that weak look at lord of the rings Ungoliant (shelobs mom) almost killed the greater scope villian Morgoth back when saroun was still just an evil intern
This party has everything going on for them. They had a better life, many of them had more abilities available from birth and even when facing danger, they aren't really at risk because Kumoko will always make sure that they won't die. Hell, Fei managed to gain a human form much, much easier than Kumoko. It is no wonder that it is very hard to root for them when they stand in Kumoko's and Ariel's way.
@@abyssaldemon1188 the question is why she protective of him at all. Someone told me she's protective of him even though he doesn't know her that well but the question is why? What's so special about shun? 🤔
@@thewolfofwallstreet627 the other reason why she's not killing Shun was because of the Goddess Sariel, If Shiro kill Shun, the Goddess will make another reincarnator as the new Hero.
Theres both light novel and web novel. I like the web novel Shiraori so much, just the plain brutality of her otherworldness (not because of reincarnation or world travel btw, not what i meant. Shes like an op alien basically).
the nightmare of the labyrinth(kumoko): **literary appears out of nowhere in the same year as theyve born in that world** them: "probably not a reincarnation"
The reincarnates were being secretive about their reincarnations. Also I believe Kumoko reincarnated months before everybody else, so it might have been enough to make it the prior year that she first became active. Altho it would have been over a year after her hatching that she became notorious, so guess that doesn't work so much...
@@DoomsdayR3sistance she just literal hatch at the same time she was born because theyll all reincarnates when its spider hatching time ... for fei who is a dragon, she hatch later a year or so cuz its not still dragons hatching time
@@ichiruki.forever Kumoko hatching is essentially the time she remembers reincarnating at. So yea, she was "born" before the rest, which is essentially what reincarnation refers to here. And yes, obviously Fei hatched later, like 7 years later, however that didn't happen in the WN because there was no Feirune. Shinohara Mirei was in the WN, but she reincarnated as human originally.
She did not show up as alive in the student list. She is the only one who did not so it was reasonable to figure such. This is also the period the originator of Tarraects became the demon lord so it is not that unrealistic to call a coincidence. Combine that all the Reincarnators were weak babies at this time and would not become noteworthy till years later.
Oh I get it now.. The thing that confuses me is two different "timelines" technically they were reincarnated at thesame time but komuko adventured earlier because she was born a spider, did not undergone infancy and such.. Well you can't blame me because the animation seems to project single timeline.
The light novel doesnt make a huge point of it either early on. You kind of realize it over time. The clues are all there, but they dont come right out and say "Btw, spider girls set 15 years in the past from the human characters, just fyi" Because making that connection and realizing the nightmare of the labyrinth is our mc once she gets some evolutions into her is a pretty shocking moment.
yea and it's just easier to imagine the correct timelines when you think that they were born around the same time but our spider girl was trown into hell since the day 1 she was born while the others had a whole childhood nd early teenager to pass
@@wolfekupo5651 that hardly matters when they still have to live to maturity. Kumoko was getting attacked as soon as she was born basically, while the rest of the humans-born characters obviously lived normal childhoods.
I cnnot get over the fact people are STILL confused about the time skips. At one point they blatantly say it out loud. Not to mention the wizard talking about the spider that gave him an existential crisis after we already see Kumo face him. It's *so* fucking obvious.
you even have the origin of the previous hero's white scarf, and if you want a much more earlier hint: the earth wyrm egg that kumoku had and feirune being an earth wyrm receiving kin eater.
That is the main failure of the anime: it concentrated on Kumoko to the expense of the humans. It cut out basically everything that made the humans interesting. In the novel, Shun has an inner monlogue just like Kumoko, which makes him infinitely more likeable as a character than his anime counterpart. Now, to be fair, the cuts were kinda necessary for adaptation purposes, but it is still unfortunate, since it degrades the quality of the anime itself. I was bored to tears during Shun’s parts of the anime because everyone was so generic with next to no characterization and way fewer hints and lore drops to help tie the world together.
@@adon732alex Still more interesting than the anime version. Especially given the way his segments (at least early on) give some context into how abnormal Kumoko’s situation really is. Like when he mentions how leveling up Appraisal is really hard and gives you headaches, meanwhile Kumoko is just like “I’m gonna appraise everything I see, non-stop to level this skill up!” She doesn’t even mention headaches or adverse effects, instead concentration on the potential payoff in terms of helping her survive. This context come back up when we see how (spoiler) Vampy gets trained from childhood and Ronandt learns about how brutal the training required to get crazy strong is.
@@adon732alex Yes but the point is that you're making fun of his cardboard cutoutness as he manages to stumble blindly into catastrophe after catastrophe.
Hero: I’m riding on a girls back Me: What the-what kind of comment is that?! You’re on a dragon!!! But nooo-make sound as if it’s out of place or even somehow scandalous
@@gilgameshthekingofweebs5924 Agreed. That's probably part of why Kumoko is the title character. She basically rolled with everything and adapted, utilizing her past without getting stuck to it.
The guide freaks out when Shun talks to them, but I was like "hey, you said they don't attack unless they're attacked. You never said they couldn't be talked to."
I just realized that since Ms.Oka knew Kumoko was born in the Great Elro Labyrinth she'd probably suspect that the Nightmare is Kumoko after hearing it heals people and only attacks in self defense.
Nah, she thought she was dead this whole time. It isn't rlly a obvious connection because of all the possibilities and mainly due to the reason kumo is no longer on her list of roster (obviously since she turn god) but how was she to know tht
@@ArthurPrince03 Since this comment, I actually went and read the light novel. Kumoko does not disappear from the roster until she "dies" at the hands of Demon Lord Ariel, which is about a year and a half after everyone was reborn. That was plenty of time for Ms.Oka to get her telepathy skill and warn Potimas. (The only reason Potimas was in the area was because Ms.Oka told him Kumoko and Sophia were going to die in Sariella.) While it's not explicit in the novels, Ms.Oka DEFINITELY would have been able to put that timeline together. Kumoko was born in the labyrinth, and dies in Sariella. So did the "nightmare". In fact, the nightmare disappears after that since Kumoko ascended and became a drider, and then a goddess.
@@basti3016 If I recall correctly, the LN is pretty clear. spoiler alert* She disappeared when her original body died, and she slipped her soul into one of her eggs during the Battle of Seriella. This happened a few years before she got the munchies at an interesting moment.
@@saosaqii5807 I don't understand why people hate him. In any other anime he would've been the generic protagonist. He's boring, but people hate him for nothing.
now shape-shifting into a darned dragon-like? what's next?: a cybertronian Spacefighter and going all out transformers? [narrows eyes in thought over this scene]
Technically no. She shapeshifted into a human like creature. She is still, in her first true form, the dragon. She obtained that skill in Ep17 or 16 i think?
sorry. this was just me still rustingly finding *where* exactly is Kumoko's Human form right now. it should not be as long as Rimuru's eventual humanoid form?....
I do not mind any spoilers. [shrugged] (just have to 'space' one's words out in here....for those others' sake here). but of course, I halted it anyways. I shall try finding more about this Anime's lore on my own from here on out during a free time....
They're technically on the same time they were all born at the same time remind me how old is Spider-Girl actually? How long has it been since she hatched?
@@nataliaquiles800 thats the thing bro first it's confusing reincarnators and kumokos time line didn't match but later it all connects at one point like spider web 🕸️ and it make sense of whole plot
@@rishabhkanade7418 no she was born at roughly the same time as the others it's just she began her adventure when she was freshly hatched everyone else were babies by the time she was killing dragons
You know Kumoko is like the Ten Sei Slime anime she walking with her power flow out in the open letting other know where she at and drawing action to her.
I think Rimuru already OP monster since beginning, he can copy monster ability he eats plus he has great sage skill as his assistant. Meanwhile Kumoko grinding hard and almost dead in the labyrinth.
teacher: i thought that monster was supposed to have died me: of course you did after all your skill told you 10 years ago that kumoko died fighting Ariel
pretty sure manga also failed to mention it until it became relevant right after her losing fight with demon lord. I expect anime to mention them next episode.
For those wanting to watch this anime or first time watchers there are two timelines being presented in the anime. First is Kumoko's which is earlier than the Heros. The Hero's POV is the present while Kumoko's is the past since she transmigrated earlier/lived independently earlier.
you can see how one Legendary Monster changed the whole dungeon Difficulty Level... and knowing that said monster isnt bound to one floor on that dungeon... thats scary as hell...
To even start to understand a what happened to Kumoko between the time gaps you have finish at least vol 7 in the light novel... That's around where I'm about to start vol 8...... Also if you want to start reading the light novel from where the anime leaves off starts somewhere in near the end of volume 5 atm .... I mean the anime not over but I think it won't go past vol 5.... So Once the anime is done vol 6...
They see her eyes differently, than us. She looks like a normal white spider to them, but we see her with different eyes so we can guess when its her or no, and also bc this is an aime and no one would like it if we always saw her with the scary eyes. But tbh I think, that they are talking about a different spider there, because her skin never looked like that.
It's the other way around. Shiro is wary of hero. She doesn't give a shit about shun or anybody, but that hero title is dangerous even for Shiro. Basically a hero can fight on equal footing with demon lord. Doesn't matter how crazy stronge demon lord is the hero will always be able to fight her. Of course Shiro can easily defeat a hero, she just doesn't want hero to fight demon lord that's it.
Not gonna lie that is one thing I definitely didn't like. how we were trying to focus on 2 different groups while they are taking place 10 tears apart from each other
The story of this anime is good but the way it depicts you need to have two brains to summarise it It shows the two version of spider in same episode not like backstory it's like it's continuing Only u get to know it in the last I was so frustrated by this shit i don't think it deserves even OVA
I think it's episode 2, 11:15. But his account is wrong though. He was literally burning kumoko's web house and actively trying to catch her in order to burn her. But I might be wrong though. It could also be that the encounter was never shown and Kumoko met a different group of people in ep 2.
@@itzngamer8814 the time he saw her was when she first left the middle area due to her fear effect monsters started to retreat causing problems in the ecosystem a group of soldiers were sent to investigate he was their guide the fear he felt just laying eyes on the nightmare was so strong he never forgot it and she didn't even do anything but stare
@@AAGREEDYFISH is right but the point of view is different from her point of view (the one shown in episode 2) the human's were way stronger than her so she ran (played up for comedic effect). But from his point of view her mere presence was enough to scar the human's that was there. Also shown through her different character design for each perspective
He's not the hero. He's a hero. It's like a job/title, (being the only that can kill the demon lord Ariel) if he dies they're just be a new one to take his place and use up the planet's resources.
Spoiler: # I WARNED YOU# Kumoko is now stronger than Potimas and Ariel but weaker than Guliedistodiez and Sariel. So yeah, she's basically the third stronger in THAT WORLD. Not in the story. Cuz the most strongest of them is Meido(she's stronger than D). And the true Wakaba, which is D, actually wanted to see our Kumoko to struggle, which is why she puts her in the dungeon. I have another lots of spoilers but I'll tell you only two. Don't wanna spoil a lot of coffee inside the cup~ ☕

i mean the manga so far focuses mainly on her time as Kumoko like we have seen Shiraori but most of the jumping back and forth in time is cut out they will most likely make it so it has a more cronological order like its more linear the Anime and LN(I think) kinda jump back and forth all the time while the mange starts at one point and progresses from there thou there was a single scene of jumping to the future
