Interestingly enough, now that version 1.1.0 has removed the ability to reset for the same outbreak, the multi-battle method is probably the best way to hunt for a specific pokemon now, so thanks for letting us know about this!

One other thing to note, is that while youre waiting for a space time, if you do happen to get an extreme weather along the way, it is best to go in to a battle and wait for the weather to change, otherwise the weather will reset your timer for a space time, but since youre in a battle youre timer is paused.

Awesome guide! Very helpful. I once found an Alpha Abomasnow and a shiny one then another shiny. Now knowing that alpha could have been a shiny if I caught it sooner (though I did catch it pretty quick) is crazy. Good to know for next time.

Just one thing to help. I found that your outbreak is only 80% likely to stay on the map if you have travelled to the zone that the outbreak is in. I noticed when I was going back and forth from Jubilife to try and get a Zorua outbreak to spawn in the Icelands, that going to the highlands or any of the other zones meant the outbreaks were much less likely to stay in the Icelands when I didn’t want them. so rotating through the outbreaks was quicker went I went to the zone that wasn’t the one I wanted to change. when I travelled to the Icelands, which then triggered the 80% retention rate, as that was the zone I was in, I noticed it took longer to get through to the one I wanted

Now I got a question, and it's a bit weird, but would you happen to know when a Pokémon is generated in Sword and Shield ? Because, since the game came out, I've been doing the KO-Dex method, going to each Pokémon spawning and either killing them to get to 500, or fleeing if i'm over that. But I was wondering if they were generated the moment they're spawned on the map or the moment you encounter them. I know static encounters are generated the moment they spawn, but I have no clue about "normal" pokémons and I can't find any info online ! Thanks a lot man once again :)

I do have a question that you may know the answer to; I have been shiny alpha hunting zorua and after about 200 outbreak resets my outbreak is stuck at spawning exactly 10 zorua per reset. Do you know why this could have happened?

For shiny swap would it be possible to repeatedly go to different times to get different spawns or is it simply just two pokémon in a day/night cycle? For example if I were to find a shiny ralts in front of the keystone, would i be able to repeatedly swap the shiny for the 1% Spiritomb or would I just have to get lucky with the first spawn being him?

I think it might be possible for fleeing Pokemon to count as multi-despawns as well. When I was hunting Eevee a few days back, I was using flee tactics to despawn them and on one rep I found an alpha near the end of the outbreak, on the next rep I found an alpha in the middle of the outbreak, and on the rep after that I found an alpha at the start of the outbreak. My strategy for getting them to flee involved dropping out of the sky into the middle of their group, so I got worried I was scaring all four of them at the exact same time and unknowingly replicating a return to Jubilife. It's also possible that my rng just felt a little whimsical that day, but it might be worth investigating just in case ideal flee tactics is 'run up to them from one side so they notice you one by one instead of all at once'.

I'm not much of a numbers guy so this helped me understand RNG manipulation a lot more than before :)

Always meant to ask, are the trees governed by the same base mechanics as other single spawns? Do they share a spawn table based on zone, or do some trees have higher odds to drop say cherubi than burmy?

Can't wait to have an new recap on how rng works now. Does killing an outbreak of bidoofs change the seed for the outbreak of zoruas, for example ? Is there a seed per species outbreak (I doubt it, but...) ? Is it unshuffulable now ? If an outbreak transforms into an alpha one at the end, does changing the way you kill the first ones affect the spawns of the alphas ? So many new exciting questions... I'm looking forward to this.

The new question is in a massive mass outbreak with a star does the first outbreak seed affect the 2nd one? Edit: From a quick test I believe the answer is yes. I had a MMO with a start and did both 1 by 1 and the 2nd horde had a shiny. I reloaded and multi-killed the first 2 of the first horde then 1 by 1'd the rest of the first and all of the 2nd and the shiny did not appear in the 2nd. Edit 2: That raises a 2nd question do all the outbreaks on the map share the same seed progression?

I have had a couple of space time distortions where i did not get a single exclusive spawns. rode around trying to find rowlet or cyndaquil but did not get any of them or the others that can spawn there. also i have had it happen to both save files on my two switch. does not happen every space time distortion but about every 5 or so.

Are the group spawns in the distortions and the single spawns in the distortions pregenerated when the distortion spawns?

something i want to note, i could be wrong but i think they patched the changing a shiny pokemon's species thing in 1.1.0. i found a shiny chatot but it quickly despawned as night fell after i got to it (real bad timing). so i reset and realized that since i already had a shiny chatot, i could try to turn it into a shiny duskull, and i slept to night before encoutering it in the next instance but it was a regular duskull. gonna have to settle for the dupe unfortunately

HELP sleeping three times doesn’t change the alpha’s stats. I tested this with the alpha infernape in obsidian..the only time it spawned a new alpha with different stats was when I went to jubilife and came back. What did I do wrong? Can you make a video demonstration?

Papa Jefé, something strange happened to me today 😅 I was hunting for dartix with the new multiple mass outbreak and at the end a shiny decidueye appear.. I thought to switch off the console cause all the dartix give me a lot of trouble and I lose a lot of balls, and since I save near the base I was sure to not fail it.. But when I catch them all again.. There weren’t any shiny decidueye... Wtf? I’m sure that there was at least one shiny, and I’m sure that was the same outbreak! The alpha were the same with the same exactly order... What happens? I tried again 4/5 times catching 1 by 1 but there wasn’t shinies anymore...

So that means if you get a shiny on spawn 5 in outbreaks you're best to not complete the outbreak because you could catch that 1 and go re seed and catch it again?

Outbreaks seemed funny to me at first, my first two outbreaks of Grotle the shinies were both modest.

Is it ok to go in and throw pokeballs to catch outbreaks as fast as possible? Or doing that will mess up the rng as well?

Curious, is there a public sheet or data spread that has outlined every spawn location and species available to spawn at that location? Or better yet, a map that has the best route to take with the spawns and species outlined for that route? Call me lazy, but for a lot of casual players who don't have time to analyze the spawns and species, would help a lot for hopping on for an hour and doing a little shiny hunting

What’s the best way to deal with multi spawners in wormholes? It’s just multi catch?

TL;DR (of what I wrote below): the die metaphor, while great for explaining in terms of odds, misses some nuances of how shininess is actually determined (and therefore a little bit of how rerolls work) 9:36 ok so while this was obviously an intentional simplification, it's worth pointing out that the odds being "1/4096" is actually a misnomer. If you simplify the fraction it's true, but the process of determining shininess is a bit more involved and *the true base odds are 16/65536* because the shininess comes from an equation using your ID and the specimen's ID (the specimen saves the ID of who caught it which is why shininess doesn't change when traded) The reason this matters is mainly just because the dice roll metaphor breaks down here. It's a 65,536 sided die numbered from 0-65535. If you roll a 1 to a 15, you get a shiny. If you roll a 0, you also get a shiny except it has a different sparkle animation in swsh only (this is why transfer shinies can be square shiny) The game only actually rerolls if a PID wouldn't have been (so when you see a boosted shiny you have no idea if it was the first roll that was shiny or the 17th or something. Once a shiny ID is found, that specific spawn doesn't keep rolling as it's already shiny.

So, I'm super confused. I always thought the best/efficient method, was to just look at the 4 Pokemon in an Outbreak, and then go back to Jubilife and re-enter the map, because that just gets rid of the initial Pokemon of #1 to #4, and advances them to #5 through #8, which is way faster than catching to see the next 4+. Are you saying that returning to town without catching anything causes the seeds to advance randomly for that next (as if a multibattle), instead of a linear progression? Does that mean I should enter the map, catch them all, reload my save and leave the map (which causes 4 random seeds), then come back and catch them all again, over and over? Or was my intial method fine? This video confused me more than anything. I thought only multibattles caused random advances, not going to town.

You say of sleeping to change the weather off of anything extreme that blocks Space-Time Distortions, but doesn't resting at a camp and altering the time of day reset the timer toward a Space-Time Distortion spawning...? I have heard that. So, the idea makes me a little nervous... I really just need the weather to not mess things up at the perfectly wrong time on me.

you can safely go into a Multi Battle as long as you only Kill/Catch 1 and then run away. this way only 1 Pokemon despawns at a time and the seed goes on as intended

I think you need to update your video to the lastest version of PLA I think different shiny Pokemon depending on time of day has been patched.

Watching this while RNG continues to deny me a Shiny Gardevoir from an outbreak despite 40+ reloads when I've got the Shiny Charm and a Perfect Dex Entry.

Its how the "Mechanics" Have been with all the switch exclusive pokemans and even the pokemans through 5th Generation that was trying to put a wedding ring on a certin someones finger.

Apart from shiny ponyta, I haven't found a single shiny. I am thinking it's my Nintendo account since everyone but me can get shinies. In b4 outbreaks, nope not a hint. Tried all the resets and stuff and they simply don't appear. Also I don't miss the telltale sounds/visuals. Because they're aren't any. Yes the pokedex for that Pokémon is perfect....looks like I'll have to try and get the stupid shiny charm.

With Space Time Distortions, don't sleep for the weather. If you enter a battle, the weather will change eventually so if you are close to 40 minutes and the negative weather appears, enter a battle and just wait till the weather changes again.

Unfortunate that the space time exclusives will be the hardest shinies to hunt. About 40 mins wait time and only 3 spawns is insane. Makes me wish we had breeding in this game.
