You are MISSING SHINIES if you aren't doing this 

**CHECK THIS BEFORE YOU COMMENT ABOUT HOW I'M WRONG** Alright, so obviously these mechanics have gotten around the internet. Lots of RU-vidrs have made videos about these mechanics, and reached different conclusions. The MOST FREQUENT comment I've been getting is that I'm directly contradicting Austin John Plays, and that I'm spreading misinformation. I'M NOT.... and here's why! For the record, I still think 1-by-1 catching is the "fastest way." (I literally suggested AJP title his video "FASTEST WAY" instead of "100% Guaranteed"). AJP's video is all about MINIMIZING VARIATION. He distilled the information down to the SIMPLEST WAY to see UNIQUE POKEMON EVERY TIME. However, its possible to battle a few Pokemon, get a different batch of consistent results and still not miss any of the main line. My suggestion is to combine Catching 1-by-1 AND multi-killing. Getting multiple unique sets of Pokemon for each wave. You don't have to kill randomly. You can do a really deep check with just three attempts: In a 12 Pokemon Swarm you could get: 1-by-1 catch -> First 4 + 8 Unique Spawns -> The Main Set of 12 Kill 2 of First 4 in a Multi-Battle -> 4+1 Duplicate Spawns -> 7 Unique New Pokemon caught 1-by-1 Kill 3 of First 4 in a Multi-Battle -> 4+2 Duplicate Spawns -> 6 Unique New Pokemon caught 1-by-1 That's 25 unique Pokemon in total, that you can predictably encounter. Its really just a matter of checking "deep" rather than "fast." On average, yes just catching 1-by-1 and advancing is probably the fastest in an encounters\hour basis. However, its possible to get stuck in a situation where your next shiny catching 1-by-1 is 40+ resets away. Obviously without custom firmware, you can't see the seed and wouldn't KNOW this is happening to you. However, if you were on outbreak reset number 20 and wanted to mix it up, you could do a couple rounds where you kill 2 or 3 Pokemon in a multi-battle first, and then catch 1-by-1 to try some different seeds and maybe get the shiny sooner. This video is more an explanation of how things work, a demonstration of a cool trick, and how TECHNICALLY you are missing shinies by not checking each of these extra scenarios per-wave (Assuming its an aggressive Pokemon.) Pokemon that Run Away are NOT able to be consistently manipulated in this way. They can't be multi-battled and only occasionally will catching them VERY FAST result in maybe one seed change. For Pokemon that Run Away, just make them all run, then reload and go back to Jubilife. This will be many times faster than any other way. This actually explains alot considering I've caught almost all of my shiny mons outside of outbreaks besides 2 and I have about a pasture full of shinies. Makes me feel better knowing there's a deeper trick to it and now I cant wait to test some things out. 10/10 would invite papa to the cookout.

I don't think you are necessarily "missing" any shinies, you only know this because the scenario you had was setup that way, and you know prior the shiny was going to appear. Player won't have prior knowledge on what they do will affect outcome, from player's POV all pokemon are still rolling the same odds regardless of what the player do

Thank you for specifying the fact that it should be with a multi-battle! I have been doing tests after seeing another channel post similar information. Ive been able to prevent a shiny from spawning from an outbreak I knew it could spawn, but had not been able to do the opposite.

I understood a very basic idea of how the mass outbreaks worked with seeds but it's super cool/interesting to see it broken down like this! Definitely gonna try some different things next time I'm out shiny hunting.

After doing some testing myself, I can say that only one alpha can be on the field at a time during an outbreak. For example: I had a growlithe outbreak and without defeating a single growlithe, I proceeded to catch them one at a time. An alpha showed up after the 5th catch. I immediately caught the alpha. Then I continued to catching the growlithes. Then a second alpha showed up. So from that outbreak, I caught two alphas. So I decided to reload and try again. I encountered the first alpha after the 5th growlithe. But instead of catching the alpha, I proceeded to catching the normal growlithes and leave the first alpha for last. But it turns out that the second alpha didn’t show up because the first alpha was still on the field. So I reloaded again to test again. I caught the first alpha, and then again, the second alpha showed up

Doing this hasnt given me any shinys but resetting the way before with base camp saving just got me two budew in one out break when full clearing it. Definitely worth full clearing before a reset imo

Interesting to see that the reseeds depend on how big each encounter _(counting each noncombat catch as a one-mon encounter)_ is... although if individual respawn timers for each "slot" are a thing, that was probably a given. I'll have to remember this for if I take the time to shiny-hunt something in PLA.

To wrap this up what's the best method ? (im french its a bit hard to understand ahah). I assume u need to check with every different scenario right ? like saving to the camp, go to the mass outbreak, catching 1 by 1, reseting, catching 2by2, reseting catching 3by3 etc ? or its completely different ?

i didnt full understand on when to go to jubilive to despawn and when to reload the save. is it like : first outbreak, save at camp. then try catching 1 by one, if its not shiny, reload and try fighting 2 at time. if still no hiny, reload and try fighting 3 at a time. then 4 at a time. if sill no shiny, then reload and reset in jubilive?

I don't get none of this...did u catch them one by in the battle? I've tried different methods and haven't got a shiny do I need to to have lvl 10 pokedex for the pokemon I'm trying to hunt or what's going on?

But you have to catch only? Or knock them out only? or avoid mixing both things?

To do a deeper check would you 1st catch one by one 2nd catch 2 then 1 by 1 3rd catch 2 then 2 then 1 by 1 4th 2 then 2 then 2 then 1 by 1 5th etc.. Nth 3 then 1 Nth+1 3 then 2 And so forth until you have literally gone through all possible variations or does it only matter on the first one then follows through?

This confirms a lot of the speculation I had of what happened to my shiny rotom, the only thing I did different was battle 4 of them at once, I knew that this was the only variable that would have affected it to not show up again and explains why I got shiny rotom the next outbreak

This was pretty neat to see broken down. I was never too motivated to shiny hunt in the previous games but with Legends I'm glad it's slightly easier, so I'm actually following this, no luck yet but we'll see where it goes! Quick question, does it matter if autosave is on or not? I would assume it should be disabled.

This is such great development, I tried this method with a turtwig outbreak I had at the time and funny that, no shiny :( I was wondering if it’s because they’re always shy and run away, even when all four are close together and you bring out your Pokémon to battle it only does one turtwig instead of all four. I hope you can find a method for scardy pokemon to come out soon too

I actually tried this with a Shinx outbreak, First outbreak I beat the first four and there was no shiny. Crashed (closed) the game and reloaded it, Didn't leave to reset, went to the outbreak again, caught the first four this time, and Shiny Shinx after catching the first four.

Definitely more efficient to just rinse and repeat after catching them all imo

Is there a way to manipulate this with Pokemon that aren't aggressive and can't multifight (e.g. Gardevoir)?

Because I was pressed for resources and overall weak team early on in the game. The way I shiny hunted outbreaks was to go in and out of the world and town. Eventually one of the first four will become shiny. This is very useful info now that I'm in late game.

This is pretty cool, thank you for explaining it! I wonder though, how does a pokemon running away factor into this? Cause I hunted all my shiny basculin by making them just dart away from me and don’t know if each run away changes the seed or if they stay in the same seed.

i know i said last thing before, but i feel compelled to share this. i just now tried to follow your recommendations from the video on a shinx outbreak. after several resets, i just decided to move on to other outbreaks. i have plenty of shiny shinx in pokemon go i'll eventually be able to transfer. a few outbreaks later, i get luxio. i adequately prepare and role up to a shiny luxio. awesome. i catch it and clear the remaining 3. as soon as i do, ANOTHER shiny luxio pops in. this is the first time i found 2 shinies in the same outbreak batch. i think i'll stick with the way that's been working for me at this point. ha!

So after you kill 2 at a time and reset, if there is still no shiny, should you still go back to the village and repeat the process or just head straight back to the outbreak site once you reload?

I love this, although I'm still having a hard time grasping it in direct game terms. So it's ideal to find an outbreak, save (in the area?), Kill 1 and check, reload, kill 2 and check, reload, kill 3 and check, reload and go to town if nothing yet, rinse and repeat until shiny? This is very huge considering the daybreak update. So basically from about 10 pokemon spawns you can get many more by going deeper into the pool of spawns on any given seed.

So you recommend at least KO the first two then catch the rest, just dont go in battle with four?

So first u battle them 1 by 1 and then restart the game and fight/capture all of them in 1 battle?

Wait I am confused, so do you actually change the day on the switch? Or does going back to town count as changing the day?

So you can basically go to outbreak look at all 4 no shiny. Leave advance a day get the next 4 pokemon and no shiny again leave advance a day and look again instead of having to capture any non shiny to advance to next pokemon?

how the he11 are you supposed to fight multiples of the 'coward' pokemon?? i'm trying to do this with ralts, and i've tried everything i can think of yet i can only ever fight one at a time??? SoS >.

I might have a point (maybe) lol. We know shiny spawn rate on outbrakes are 1/158, didnt do the calculations, but if the number of different seeds we can statistically create for a new pokemon to spawn catching/killing a different one evry time we try is 158ish, this means that (still) statistically every outbrake has a way of catching/killing N pokemons to get that specific seed = evrry outbrake actually have a way to give you a shiny
