I like to picture the last half of the video as just Boo making pew pew lazer sounds with gunpla and figures with a red string corkboard in the background.
Oh if only that's how things worked. Wait, scratch that. If that's how it worked, and if I can't remember people's names, then bad things would happen.
@@JexMugen Sirocco was cynical enough that he didn't care about the horror that resulted. Kamille cared about all the horror that ensued so it broke him.
Sounds like a fan fiction justification for a crossover. Doesn't mean I don't love it tho. Edit: Problem, Starship troopers doesn't have gun dams, this is heresy of the highest degree.
I like Gaia Gear, but officially it's technically not canon. It's supposed to be an alternate universe that branches off from the mainline into it's own thing.
@@RPN_07 Imagine Kamen Rider Decade with all the different Gundam series, and you basically have the same idea. Or the genetic memory diving gimmick from Assassin's Creed in the Gundam multiverse
Did i really just witness a G-Saviour "rant" turn into a way too much sense making theory on the origins of the Correct Century? I`m impressed!!! Also this theory made my brain go "but what if this is all just one small part of the multiverse-spanning SD Cross Generation or Super Robot Wars timelines , OR BOTH??? What would it mean?? " Yeah my brain hurts now, thx BOO!
@@MasterSwo Someone/something dislodges the otherwise inevitable meeting of the Phoenix and Ideon. Cue SRW plot resulting as the two circle in towards each other, blending alternatives together as their two existence's slowly collapse all possibilities to force the war they exist to wage. Antagonists have been trying to prevent the keystone events of the properties timeline's coming to pass to slow or even reverse this 'pull of gravity/destiny' and doing a really poor job of it, just remixing events instead. Now, when it's clear their plan failed miserably, they explain and basically turn to the protagonists and say "Phoenix and Ideon are about to get here, if they clash reality as we know it will be destroyed, HELP!" cue final level with the antagonist's and their machines available to the player as well, and two horrifyingly OP units to keep from fighting. At first I hear a man express his PTSD from watching a terrible movie. After 8 minutes his mind shatters and I begin questioning why he let this befall him. Actually he made something more entertaining than the movie he watched.
@@ZontarDow In 95 I was 13 years old. I watched the referendum go down with my grandfather. His standpoint was that Canada must remain whole, we're one country and we should stay one country. My standpoint was that if they want to leave let them leave, they seem like a bunch of selfish assholes who don't care about this country anyway. Turns out I was right. If was old enough to vote Quebec to leave in 95, I would have. If they held another referendum tomorrow i would commit numerous counts of voter fraud until the poles closed to get the parasite province out of this country.
I always thought that g-savior was part of the middle part of the calamity war from IBO. Since the G-savior seems to be the first true unit to rely on a modular frame type design. It also makes sense that the early part of the uc would be the beginning of the calamity war and eventually as tensions and conflict continues to escalate over the centuries eventually ai controlled mobile armors would be developed to replace battle field losses until they go rogue. Then the gjallarhorn is founded and decides to develop the gundam frame and it does sort of hold up. Mcgillis does say that units bearing the name gundam have arisen at important flashpoints in human history and its important to note he said bearing the name gundam which seems to excluded gundam frames since they tend to be known more by their demon name and because it seems that Sydney Australia was also destroyed. It would also explain the huge debris fields since centuries of war would create a lot of debris.
"I'd kill for some balls right about now." -BOOFIRE191 But still, G-Savior's arm trick was pretty cool. Not as slick as the F91's double spinning beam sabers.
My head cannon includes the discovery of the Idion in the Universal Century, it fits perfectly with Gundam's insane theme of death and rebirth. It made even more dark when you learn the alternate universes are not that at all. All Gundam stories take place at some point between the Universal Century and the Correct Century during a period called the "Dark History" (as confirmed by Bandai) Tomino may be one of the darkest world creators alive. I would love to see a video of you exploring this more in depth.
@@KillerOrca Hideo Kojima,....sure why not, a complex story of conspiracy theories in a woven web of intrigue about the fate of mankind that ends with everyone dying in the end only to be reborn to suffer the same fate in a cycle of rebirth. Hell lets get Masamune Shinow in here and his Ghost in the Shell existentialism (What is human, what is real) This will either be the smartest story ever, or the ramblings of a mad man that will make people want to kill themselves.
Reminds me of when Toei bought the full rights to the American godzilla films just so they could have the Real Godzilla utterly annihilate the american "Zilla" in one blast during Final Wars
@@Antiformed I STILL find that needlessly petty and childish. I mean, movie aside, they had a decent monster design in their hands and they just squandered it for a cheap "Gotcha" moment.
*Me, somebody who’s never seen G-Savior and only ever hears how bad it is. “Oh this ought to be interesting, I get to hear in detail how bad it really is.” *few minutes later “Oh...not even having the main point of its franchise level of bad...”
I made it about 45 minutes in and turned it off. It was so bad I was in awe of its audacity. It felt like a terrible episode of the Outer Limits or Quantum Leap.
@@andrewowens4421 The problem is...Gundam wasn't popular in West, more specially in Canada at the same year Wing was released on The West. This movie marketed as part of the franchise's 20th anniversary, which makes it more boggling...
@@yonggasaputro656 At the time, mainstream media was leaning into toy-markets, even though people like Ralph Bahkshi were trying to convey a story in movies... Sure Victory Gundam shook Sunrise to give it a rain-check, which led to G Gundam, and eventually Gundam Wing to happened. You think it's easy to sell Gunpla in The West to kids...!?
I'll be honest, the battle at the end, while it LOOKED bad, the movement of the mobile suits were great, using the limbs to actually perform AMBAC maneuvers. The mechs move slowly, but I feel like it would have been a good representation of how first generations might have moved in a "real life" scenario.
Holy shit you're right, they actually are maneuvering with weight adjustments rather than thrust. What the fuck, when did someone who gave a shit sneak onto the team?
this is normal when people first watch g-saver the mind can not fathom a gundam so pointless that it begins pulling a strings to make sense of it the more gundam you have seen before g-saver the worse the brake down can be I spent 3 weeks trying to make sense of it before coming to the inlitened state that no infact the movie is just shit and I should do something more productive with my time
My gosh Boofire has lost it. Also my headcanon is that the Ide is actually the source of Newtype energy, as Ide is power from beyond the grave (or beyond the time). Also in several instances of Newtype powers being used, specifically in relation to machines such as the Neo Zeong and its sister unit the II Neo Zeong, there is the sound of the Ideon Sword. First case is in MSG Unicorn, where it can be briefly heard during the "time travel" segments near the end. The second time is on occasion when the II Neo Zeong is seemingly overflowing with Newtype energy. The Phenex seems to fear or dislike this negative use of Newtype power, stating it should not exist in the world. Therefore, if Psychoframe was to continue being misused in the fashion that made the Neo Zeong units, it could lead to the creation of a terrible being, one that stands opposed to the Unicorn's possibility. A second Ideon. This is why Psychoframe was locked away or nerfed. To safeguard against the terrible dark power it has.
One correction- the moment at 10:55 when you show the scene from Thunderbolt December sky, the GM Aqua doesn’t have its jet engines running. Those are hydrojet thrusters, which is actually very different from a jet engine or thruster and is used on underwater MS of both sides
BOOFIRE191 hey no worry bro, your recap of Seed/Destiny is like super super spot on. Love all the awesome content! Those two videos are my real main interaction with the series and I’m more than fine keeping it that way. Well, that, and my interaction with the plot via violently murdering every cringe antagonist via Rebake Full City Death Shears and ELS QanT magic in Cross Rays :) that shit really *does* put a smile on my face, to see relentless beam spam from the ugly looking machines get crunched to death by heavy metal
I watched a 15 minute preview of G-Savior that my friend had unlocked in some game he imported. It was the whole movie condensed into 15 minutes. That was all i really needed.
9:04 lmao ever since I found out about that Victory Side Story I always say, Judau just got up and tired with the shit happening in the Solar System and said adios with the Dandelion Colony/Space Craft
I thought i was the only other person in this god foresaken universe to come up with this idea (other than the G-savior stuff) but no Thank you for showing more people this light
Look man, I get that it's been a rough time, Everybody's suffering in one way or another. But drugs are NOT THE ANSWER! G-Saviour is it's own thing. And I disagree. Everyone should watch it. Especially those that complain about any of the "Build" series or Seed or Seed Destiny. Doesn't improve any o them, but it provides excellent perspective of how bad it could have been.
One thing I don't think you mentioned & probably didn't know was that Bandai/ Sunrise didn't give the Canadians any mandates for this film & had little to do with it from the start. As soon as they saw the finished product, they were quick to cancel all the gunpla (with the exception of the G Savior itself) and pretend like it never happened. I personally consider this film a guilty pleasure. While it's horrible, I admire what they tried to do and what it could have been.
@@rueceless7580 please bandai, as much as this movie sucks the actual design of the G-Saviour is really good imo. i would absolutely buy either an MG or an HG revive. hell even an RE 100.
I WAS RIGHT! I KNEW IT! I always figured that after UC the Correct Century would happen after G-Saviour and that battle between the Phenex and Gigantis aka Ideon created a black hole connecting the timelines of every Gundam series and it explains literally replicas of old Mobile Suits from the UC era like the Zaku II aka Borjarnon, the Gallop looking craft that shows up in one of the Turn A episodes and the Kapool looking one like mind blown. It also links with the Light of Chronicle UC video where Lalah tells Amuro and shows him the Turn A Gundam during Dark History destroying the world into nano machines with the Moonlight Butterfly attack and starts Correct Century and after Correct Century notice the name G- reappears again in G-Reco? Get it G-Saviour, G-Reco they don't use the term Gundam anymore it's like a cursed name maybe.
All I'll say is that the video games is more interesting and has none of the movie's characters. Also, thank you for mentioning the three manga in this episode. Also also, lol, Amufro. Seriously though, food shortage issues are what led to the whole kuntala thing pre-Reguild Century.
Oh god I had forgotten they use the exact same "Future Soldier" uniform from Starship Troopers and Power Rangers Lost Galaxy "Once you remove Mobile Suits" Didn't the movie do that by itself perfectly well? lol
Hey bash stargazer and Awakening of the trailblazer but Turn A is not a bad show. Also Gaia Gear is the last of the novel timeline. Also you forgot G Reco being the prequel of Turn A.
@@nepgeardam6807 Well there are arguments for both points of view But personally i think it's after turn a because well shit the moonlight butterfly when it destroyed all of humanity was only installed in two mobile suits Turn a and turn x which clashed with each other and did everything we saw in turn a But thing is If regild is before turn a Then it wouldn't make sense for the earth federation or whatever government was in charge of reverse engineering the turn x not to send and armada of mobile suits with moonlight butterfly to hard counter turn a's rampage Yet as we saw on the show they didn't Thus it makes sense that regild is after turn a because by that time both the turn a and the turn x would have awakened from their cocoon allowing humanity to study them and implement that technology on new mobile suits
there is a HG G-Saviour model kit and its actually really good and its still produced. sadly it only has the space type aside from that they never made the addons or anything XD
The best version of UC is the one presented in Super Robot Wars V, that world also includes Getter Robo, Shin Mazinger Zero and Evangelion! To summarize, at some point Earth was invaded by an hideous race of alien beasts that almost wiped out humanity, luckily they were defeated on the moon using powerful robots powered by getter rays, a misterious form of radiation from space, then 3 years later thes monsters resurfaced, and the Earth Federation decided to kill them by using a getter ray bomb that caused the second impact, killed off half of the human population and made the seas red and toxic, then the one year war happens, and around the time of the events of Gundam Unicorn the angels show up and a mad scientist decides to conquer the planet using mechanical monsters left by an ancient race of evil gods that are just about to come back, wich will lead to Mazinger Z to awaken and become Zero, and it could even possibly trigger the Shin Getter to evolve in Emperor.
I think some videos on Victory and Turn A would be worth it, seeing as how Mad Wang is a meme and Turn A is (from a certain point of view) a good ending for the UC, better than G savior. And a Mad Wang review because the meme.
The best part of G-Saviour for me was the costumes the generic baddies wore. The footsoldier gear was literally Starship Troopers props, and General Whatshisface's uniform included an East German officer cap from the 1960s, and the medallion on his neck was a beret badge of the French Foreign Legion. They literally just raided the local surplus store for some medals and fancy baubles
D-did you just went Eldritch tiers of theory crafting in a G-savior video no less..? *Grabs hold of head.* No! I feel it.... I FEEL THE WARP OVERTAKING MY MIND!!! QUICK! AIM A BOLTER AT ME!!! DO IT!!! DO IT NOW IN THE NAME OF THE IMPERIUM!!!
up until the Crossbone gundam: Dust manga i dispised GS cause the MS seemed so outdated even compared to the Jamesgun and Javalin what with thier lack of 360 cockpits and beam sheild tech no to mention the suits were over 18meters when in victory the new standard was 15meters or less but in dust its shown they are no longer a thing cause technology is regressing.
Tomino wanted it after...but Bandai said before. If you think about it, the Turn A could truly have been completed by time of G-Reco because moonlight butterfly tech being completed. G-Reco is that final nail in UC (because they keep reference UC only) that brought on the moonlight butterfly event.
Boofire, I was fond of you up until this video came out. You made mecha content when nobody else really was... But with this, I think you are now one of my all time favourite RU-vidrs ahaha. The sheer amount of deep cuts you pull out of your behind to make sense of the mistake that was G Savior, knowing context enough to pull from IDEON of all things... You sir, are a gentleman and a scholar, and I thank you deeply for giving me these 14 and a half minutes in which I could finally for the first time in a very long time feel like I wasn't the only one who cares this much about dumb robo cartoons ahahaha. Keep the mecha content coming my good man. I will keep watching
Talk about the unrelated Ball in a G-Saviour review reminds me of when me and my brother kept shouting "OMG! It's Godzilla!" while watching the American Grudge movie.
you forgot to mention g saviour heavy connection with g reco the food crisis that happen during g saviour might help leading to the creation of kuntala or human cattle that people as substitute food.
I honestly didn't realize this was supposed to be THE Universal century. I just thought they reused the name because they were to lazy to actually make anything themselves.
Ah, G-Saviour. A movie so messed up the Illuminati actually came to help the protags during the final battle. You know you F-ed up so bad when the mother-freakin' *Illuminati* had to come and rescue you 😮
well granted in lore its hinted that the illuminati is actually just the latest incarnation of the AEUG tbh i think they just could not think of a good name and just spun the random 3rd party wheel
A small note. Jet and rocket propulsion are a bit different. And gets a bit funky depending on the circumstances. (For example Mobile Suits tend towards Hydrogen based Ion/Plasma thrusters instead of the types we use today.) Also wasn't it clarified that the Phenex didn't Time Travel but just blinked to a different part of the universe via FTL or Space Fold style travel?
The starship-trooper uniforms got re-used later by, no joke, Power Ranger. To be specific, it was used in "Power rangers: Lost Galaxy" were the costumes got used for the military troops on board of the colony-ship "Terra-Venture"
the real truth is that G-Saviour was screwed from the beginning. Bandai thought it would be a great idea for the anniversary and hoped it might even start a tv series, there was a manga and a ps2 game aswell. At that time bandai was trying to conquer the western market. problem was all of the people who actually worked on gundam didn't like the idea. they also didn't want a definitive end to the u.c timeline which G-Saviour was sapossed to be and more importantly wanted to keep gundam in japan. so they with held support/funding and in the end found the cheapest company they could get away with to do it. they wanted it it fail. They never even helped with the script they stayed away, the closet thing they had to a gundam expert was the lead actress who did voice work for gundam wing. that being said if you take gundam out of its name and watch as an old sifi movie, its not bad reminds me of the sifi shows from the 90's.
Was there report about the veterans not agreeing with this idea? I was delving into G-Saviour's history on the franchise's 20th anniversary, yet this is more damning than I thought...!
I purchased G Savior with my mom at a video store (shows how long ago this was). At the height of my Gundam love, even as a dumb little kid, I knew this movie was garbage
