Kolkata paved the way for Indian cities for modern mode of transportation but now Kolkata is lagging behind other metro cities in terms of its infrastructure !! 😩😩
Feeling so nostalgic! All my childhood I use to spend vacations in Kolkata just to commute on this yellow coloured devil! Rs 1 ticket from vending machine. It was fun back in 90s.
I still remember i used to curiously looked into excavation at central avenue while traveling on the road as a pedestrian. 90s kids seen a lot than any generation.🙏

I have a question.....why Kolkata metro can't change its model means why they didn't modernise the structure of N-S metro!!!!!! Like E-W trial run metro.......is there r any reason like they want to maintain the heritage nd that's why they didn't
Sayantan Sarkar Main reason why we don't use Bangla is it's not understood by people from rest of the world. Our moto is to project Kolkata to rest of the World. Another one is we have international viewers. And moreover we are all set to expand and takeover other infrastructural projects across India. We have plans to caption our video in Bangla ... to be done soon!
Many things have changed through the course of time from 1984 to 2018. But the change that has never come is in suicides which disrupts the metro services, hereby leading to utter chaos, confusion and irritation among the metro-takers. In the east-west metro line, there will be platform screen doors. But why not in the existing and other under-construction metro lines in the city?? This surely needs a strong voice to tell the metro authorities to ensure passenger convenience along with safety and security. New rakes are being brought, routes are being increased, passenger safety has been made a first priority which is good. But we also need good convenient services as well. Suicides are not at all welcome in any mode of transport, whether be it a bus or a train or a metro. We now truly and urgently need platform screen doors on all existing and under-construction metro routes in Kolkata. If KMRC can do it, then Metro Rail Kolkata can also do it. Please make a video on the necessity of platform screen doors in Kolkata metro existing and under-construction lines (excluding east-west metro, as it will have PSD's) and show it to the metro railway authorities. In Delhi Metro magenta and pink line stations and in some stations of the blue line, half-height PSD's are already installed. Something similar to that can be installed in Kolkata metro existing and under- construction lines as well.
But still being the first metro project of India, now it lacks behind in many aspects. New Delhi metro construction started in 2001 and now more than 350 km line and 200 + stations.Bangalore and Hyderabad is also ahead of us. What is happening here still i dont know?? Are they serious or not or simply wasting public money.
Kolkata metro was only test ground for Delhi Metro. Kolkata Metro's budget is half that Bangalore & Hyderabad. Why? Because that is used to fund Hyderabad & Bangalore metro which us UNDER DEBT . Bangalore & Hyderabad both has low ridership. Bangalore has the most useless metro as no one really want to use it,Bangalore is Bus & car oriented city Metro doesn't even connect major places of traffic choke points.Instead it was constructed to SHOW the tourists.
