The dean ornish MD diet saved my life 9 years ago I'm 82. Similar to the esselstyn diet both are vegetarian and the year ago Robert lustig MD sugar metabolic syndrome and cancer lecture is the other best lecture in medicine other than ornish's diet lecture both will save many lives to come I think more than any other lectures. They have the most valid and up-to-date research to back them ornish's diet has incredible success
Vegan goes beyond diet to include things like not wear leather. Vegetarian includes animal products (eggs, fish, dairy are most common). Whole Food, Plant Based (WFPB) is the best as it gets rid of junk food including oil, sugar and usually salt. WFPB is relativity new compared to Dr. Ornish. I enjoyed youtuve videos of Lustig last year.
I want to add Dr Batiste mentioned Nexium and kidney problems. My mother took Nexium for years and died of Kidney Failure. I never knew this until just now. I am so upset that her doctor put her on that horrible drug.
Very New to a Plant Based Diet. I’ve always been interested in diet but this change is the biggest ever. Trying to watch as much as possible to keep me motivated. Really liked Dr Batiste, down to earth in explaining everything.
You found the right spot 🙂. The guests are inspiring and Chuck does a great job, asking the right questions and his pinch of irony is refreshing and lightens up the serious issues discussed. Dr. Will Bulsiewicz is my favorite frequent guest.
Great interview. Dr Batiste has a knack for explaining things well. I took lots of notes, and intend to adjust my diet even further to maximise the health benefits.
We have neighbors who went on Keto to lose weight. Their cholesterol went up 35% and their Dr. put them on a statin. I was floored. The Dr. is also on Keto and Crestor
Dr Batiste is soooo wise! This interview is so worthy! I hope this goes viral and helps lots of people. It's crazy how he has to deal and fix the negligence of people that doesn't even want to try to change at all and they might as well die from stubbornness. It's saddening because I do have my father with heart disease and whenever I talk about plant based diet feels like the guy is deaf and he's back at the chicken cheese combo. I'm really grateful for every video PCRM works to bring to us because we always learn something new and hopefully help change mindsets for a better world too I love you guys!
I'm finding these things hard to believe. Especially, the one about skin thickness, and heard disease. I've been told that Heart disease is more common among blacks. I'm told when a black person comes to the emergency room doctors are more likely to administer emergency heart treatment.
Thank you to Chuck for his very articulate comments on his successes and realizations how a healthful diet is so beneficial. He expertly draws out so many key points with great guests like Dr Batiste and adds his own thoughtful insights! Well done 👍 This podcast deserves a million views per hour! Thank you PCRM!!
You and Dr. Batiste are a necessary team. Your patience in receiving the information about the African-American community released the most powerfully condensed truth about beautiful people born with dissimilar color. Dr. Batiste could make at least 100 different podcasts by breaking down the multitude of vast layers he discussed. Your answer was exceptional; please consider the journey of 100 podcasts on this critical subject. Well done for your patience in understanding the importance of releasing the information to the universe and your ability to share the information with dignity.🌱
Bravo! Excellent interview. Thank you Dr. Batiste for your thoughtful, personal and insightful discussion to the questions. You have broadened my perception of health and enlightened me to broader varieties of stress. I will increase the moments that I smile at others, even in passing with strangers, with the idea that I might, perhaps reduce the the social stress of others and myself. You are a gem, Dr. Batiste. (You too, Chuck! I love your show).
I’ve learned so much listening to Dr Columbus Batiste’s interviews. I can’t wait for his book. Also Got a bit of a crush tbh. Also I’m from England. I can vouch for the fact that we ain’t smart baby. Brexit. Just saying 😬🤦♀️
I notice this about this doctor. I heard him say once his wife was having some type of chest pains and they left her sitting in the emergency room because she was black. It was one with Dr Kim Williams.
@@calmingdragon2862 ridiculous. Im an ER nurse and we get accused of that here and there when actually 80% of the patients are black I would say. I work in inner city Houston. sometimes black patients call white nurses racist, sometimes white patients accuse Filipino nurses of being illegal aliens, sometimes black patients scold black nurses for working with white nurses as if it is reducing their life quality somehow. Seems that the patients are the ones who are actually racist lol. The people that get left in the waiting room are there because patients that get taken back need to have interventions take place much sooner rather than later and need to be on our monitors that tracks their vitals every second. and even sometimes those people get left In the waiting room simply because we do not have the rooms, the staff, or both. It never has anything to do with race. not unless that triage nurse wants to lose her job. it is a ridiculous accusation. we dont care about what color the skin of the patient is! we care about patients who NEED to get out of the lobby actually GET OUT OF THE LOBBY and in to a room!
My dad died of heart disease at 56, so when I was diagnosed myself at 45, I assumed it was genetic & there was nothing I could do about it. However, I became vegan for ethical reasons at 47 & to my surprise my health improved dramatically & I managed to reverse my heart disease, along with type 2 diabetes. The work of Dr Batiste & all the wonderful plant based Doctors is so important, because they are literally saving peoples lives.
Dr. Batiste is Amazing! Absolute Rock Star! His views, and the fantastic way he explains things, totally resonate with my perspectives. Thank you so much
But Chuck you had help with your tummy operation to lose weight. Yes you keep your weight down because you can't eat that much anymore. To lose weight normal is little bit different. But you done good Chuck.
Very true but nothing new. Nutrition facts has been talking about it for years with research to prove it. Everything is put to the test. A super video. This needs to be promoted by more people. Thank you.
Has there ever been a study on women who have not had a cardiovascular event recommending they take a statin? Family members older than me that lived an unhealthy lifestyle have all had some cardiovascular event. My total cholesterol is 276 and my LDL is 188 but I am not over weight and I live a healthy lifestyle ie. Exercise and primary plant based yet EVERYONE wants me on a satin. Help. Is there a book or a study I should read?
Maybe talk to your doctor about Red Yeast Rice supplements. It naturally contains the same active compound in statins but with a lot lower risk of side effects. Just be sure you find a company that has their supplements 3rd party tested since supplements are not regulated.
Oh my God. You black people really go around looking for discrimination? You know, if you look hard enough, you'll find it, whether it's there, or not. This is really what you do all day? Why don't you spend a little less time watching the main stream news, and a little more time actually being around actual people? That will be a great help. Once again, it's not on me to not micro aggress. It's on you to not be nuts
This is silly and massive false information. Losing the processed foods and 1:1 carb:fat ratio is what gives you health. Be low carb or low fat on whole foods - plants or animals - and you will be healthy.
I agree. There is no scientific evidence that meat is bad for you. It’s the simple and refined carbs, high fructose corn syrup. Many vegans and vegetarians tend to be quite deficient in protein, essential vitamins and have a very high carb diet to supplement for not eating meat. Grass fed, lean meats are great. I still go by the notion of meat being a condiment though. Mostly vegetables.
