@@insanneous how will you ever recover from someone saying facts and yet still being so horriblely wrong and useless to what really matters in life. Like capitalism itself.
I actually really appreciate the crafting in combination with the generous pulls. Within an hour of pulls via startup gems and crafting exactly what I knew I wanted, I had not only my specific preferred deck, but also an even more refined and updated version of it. This game has been more generous with deck building than any Yugioh game I've ever played.
Last night on the first turn someone did a combo to draw through their entire deck just to get exodia. In my mind I was like tell me you have exodia without saying it lol.
God, those Exodia decks are so boring. I love a duel that's a real tennis match of intense back and forth, not this burning through a deck to get an instant win. So god damn lame.

Helpful Tips: You can still get SR and UR despite no animations occurring. Secret packs unlock anytime you get an SR and UR for that archetype. The last 4 cards of a secret pack are always guaranteed to be featured out of the featured card list for that specific pack. I also recommend only crafting cards that’s specifically only in default pool of cards or if the card you want is the only card you need from that set.
Yeah, gacha-style games always do that fake out thing to surprise you. They all follow the same format, now that I'm on about it. Gems to buy stuff with, rainbow-colored shit, 10 pulls. I actually really like the gacha format, but holy hell do they all use the exact same template.
It’s all trial and error. The game has evolved so much and things have changed but it’s still yu-gi-oh. Still strategizing, making decks, discovering new ones is so fun. I played back in the GX era and I still play now. It’s all about the technical plays and seeing how familiar you are with your own deck. I’m sure with enough time, you’ll probably steamroll everyone lol. You’d probably destroy me lol
This was without a doubt the greatest duel I have ever seen. Joey, Pharoah and Kaiba cannot hold an exodia to this level of skills. Zone and Don-thousand are surely weep in the corner along with the rest of the cast. Charlie is the true king of games.
7:53 I have not seen a Fluffal combo in my life but I can tell you that sacking 2 of your guys for a measly 1 set monster card is the worst play you could ever make in Yugioh.
He either misclicked or was literally trolling, tiger's destruction effect isn't mandatory, you can target UP to the number of monsters used for his summon so he could have just used the effect on charlie's set, he probably was trolling which is hilarious considering he most likely had lethal from the start of the game
That’s not even sweating. There are plenty of decks right now that are just so good and they don’t even combo. And there are decks that are really good that do combo. Each deck does a lot of different things with a lot of interactions. The deck that I’m playing right now called Sky Striker has been meta for like 3 years and playing it in master duels, it’s still good to this day and can handle majority of whom I face and it’s not some type of combo deck. Although I do have a combo deck called Phantom Knight and that deck is very fun.
the thing i hate about this game is when you just get negated into oblivion, every time you try to do anything your opponent is just like "no, you aren't allowed to play" and then they waster your time with a fifteen minute turn
I had a match against a dude with Ghost trick cards (..If I remembered the name right) But basically- Any card you try and attack with weather it be a direct hit or attacking a monster flips your card and puts it into defense position. And they don't defend you from his attacks. They're just useless cards at that point. Very difficult fight that I lost-
That’s why people use staple cards. Droplet, Storm, Kaijus, Amano-Iwata, DRNM and more… You have a lot of Options, budget or UT for every type of decks. Specially Go-Second decks, they can pass and disable negates without problem.
It's pretty fun when you do get a chance to break your opponent's board with just the right sequencing to bait out their interruptions. I just wish there was a side deck instead of having to spread your answers thin in the main deck
My cousin always said high level yu-gi-oh! plays looked like people playing solitaire with themselves for 5-10 minutes occaisonally interrupted by action. Glad to know he was right.
Kinda. You also have people ruin your turn or first turn Verte>Dragoon then dropped 3 more omni negates and has ash in hand. Or they Mystic Mine and you're too sweaty to run Twister so you gg out.
I'll tell you that its honestly just alot of wording. Weird thing is understanding the commas and other verbiage. Once you get it though, you will just see the code neo
Yeah, with all the new yugioh series, it's so hard to keep up with wtf even goes on anymore. Like sometimes my opponents will draw half their deck within one turn and ill have no idea what just happened. Thew new special summons like pendulum don't even make sense to me
@@-SP. pendulums give you the ability to summon multiple monsters in a single turn. Each pendulum monster has a number. You set two pendulum monsters in the pendulum zones like they are spell cards. If the monsters you intend on summoning have a level that’s between the numbers you set then you can pendulum summon them to the field. (For example, in order to pendulum summon Dark Magician you need a pendulum monster with 8 and another pendulum monster with 6 or lower.)
@@TMBfan Charlie went from nothing to bronze 3 from losing a game. I'm gonna say ranks up to a point are probably pretty lenient. Theres also a lot of new people who are just trying whatever. As people start to understand the game more or as people look up meta decks more that toon deck is gonna be more and more struggle. (Obviously play what you want though that's what I do) Toons are bad because they need toon world to really pop off and toon world is an old field spell and the problem with old field spells is well a lot of them aren't very good.
@@khajiitthecat1462 Lmao I'm not sure if I should be insulted or not. I'm actually not really that knowledgeable on yugioh past Arc v though tbh and I have limited knowledge of Arc V. I dont really know like the tcg meta at all. I just like card games and I've learned enough from failed deck building, youtube videos and other things to know that if a deck relies a lot on one card that card better be good as fuck like win you the game good. And toon world/kingdom just isnt that. You can still win with almost any deck for the most part if you end up playing against the right person or the heart of the cards does you a solid but that's gonna become less likely as the meta is defined.
Funny thing about that first duel is Yu-Gi-Oh has reached a point where Charlie running the starter deck as is could have very easily been a top-tier deception play as far as his opponent was concerned.
Funny that I started playing this game today too and this video really compliments my day. And it’s super intense when you or your opponent are at low LP, you know it’s about to get real.
I love this game and I love that they are trying to make Yu Gi Oh more like magic arena, but losing turn one in a ranked match sucks. And good decks have turns that last forever.
Nah that's just Yu-Gi-Oh lol If you want a more interactive game you can try playing with a control deck. Eldlich, Sky Striker and Altergeists are all strong archetypes that are control oriented.
@@HandjobHandsome there are a lot of rogue decks that are competitively, the thing is that if you dont go for the straight control deck that you just set up your field and pass, then your turn also takes a long time to get done. I play prank-kids competitively,it is an interactive deck but sometimes i feel like i am taking so long to get where i want that i feel like asking sorry from my opponent.
Anyone complaining about "15 minute turn ones" the game has been this way for a long time. I mean even as far back as 2013 we had dragon rulers full power and 2014 xyz infernity summoned like 30 times in a turn. The games been power crept since your petite moth deck was good.
@@jabermogwai5996 This game is literally unplayable if you go second and didn't open any hand traps, those negative review are completely justified imo
I used to play yugioh with my friends like early 2010s with just randomly made decks with the cards we had in hand, and coming into modern yugioh with these long combo decks is very jarring and it seems like a totally different game.
for future reference you want to go for specific secret packs so you can farm the currency from the UR and SR cards you get in excess. i personally started doing it with the monarch secret pack so its super easily to make currency consistently
Not even, Yugioh players are like the most disconnected I swear lol. Try to even comprehend what is happening in even a Legacy match of Magic the Gathering and then try to make this argument 🤣
I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to build a competitive deck, which I used to get to plat 1, entirely F2P, in like two hours. Not used to Konami being generous to us YGO fans. Given that Charlie doesn't love combo I'm sure he's enjoying the high ranks now, Master duel is based on the extremely Control-favoring OCG format Floodgates everywhere.
True I build a complete zoodiac tribrigade deck (best deck), complete virtual world deck (tier2) and a prank kids deck without spending any money whatsoever and in very short amount of time. My drytron deck is also almost finished. This crafting system is so awesome way superior to duel links. Didn't expect that from greedy konami.
@@darkshine1836 Yeah, with the launch rewards and such I only did the first few solo missions to get enough gems to deconstruct and then construct my deck, it was in a fully functioning state in only a couple of hours. Now, I do conceded, some of the extra-deck techs I had to wait to get a few more gems for, but by day 2 I had finished both of my decks completely.
@@Safersephiroth777 My primary deck for the ranked climb was Plunder Patroll. Used a pretty standard core, alongside a playset of Ash, MST, Chalice, and Droplets. ED-wise, I have toad/bahamut (which I did get the following day I admit, didn't have those till I was high gold) , as well as a white aura-whale
I love how much people try to overextend in this game. It just makes me so happy to see all that hard work go into making an unbreakable board when you’re at 100 LP only for 1 nibiru to ruin everything.
attacking guy animation means "New" card discovered. *#2* thing to know about this game, small print you may not notice: only 4 out of 8 cards in a secret pack are of the archetype.
Charlie, first duel: I'm going to wreck some child with the starter deck. Charlie, moments later: My man, stop sweating so much! I AM PLAYING THE *_STARTER DECK!_* So excited to see more YGO content on this channel! It's been a while since the hour long card pulling videos.

this is bring all the good memories back when I was a little boy I made one of those kc deck things out of cardboard whit my friends. I still have all my old cards and my super rare cards.
As someone trying to learn modern yugioh… I find myself in my first competitive match thinking maybe they’ll be using the starter decks as well…. As I wait 9 minutes for my opponent to do his thing, he ends up with 2 4000attack hero monsters on the field along with another…. I ended up losing. But yeah, fun game.
Charlie lamenting the 5 to 10 minute turn length is really funny to hear as a Magic: the Gathering player. Especially considering that I play Commander, where turns easily can take 20 to 30 minutes...
I've played a game that lasted 45 turns which is around over an hour and a half, and we weren't even close to decking out because of how many cards allow you to take your cards from ur gy to ur deck field or hand Edit: you also can't time out realistically because it gives you an extra 5 minutes every time you start your turn
I remember in an old video Charlie said when Master Duel comes out he might hold tournaments with top players has he said in a stream recently if he's still going to do that?
Modern YuGiOh is watching your opponent play solitaire for 5-10 minutes so they can win in the first 2 turns. There's a reason I quit when they introduced pendulum summons.
LINK mechanic is just dog shit. Since when summon play is the norm?? Yesterday i play againts opponent who summon 3 blue eyes dragon in his first turn. Jesus christ lol.
Gosh watching Charlie play this takes me back to the days when Totalbiscuit streamed heartstone with his off meta builds and themed ones. Miss him to this day.
I dunno, the game does give a lot at first, but gems start drying up. Definitely recommend crafting as few as decks as possible as well as going ham on making staples like Ash Blossom, Maxx c, ect.
I think some players who are more casual will just spend their gems on packs to just make up something like how we used to do in that playground format. Definitely have a deck in mind and get staples first. If you’re a casual player, I’d recommend reading archetypes and for duel links players, welcome to the actual game lol.
@@neocheeseandthesix9013 While I will not fault them, a lot of the rewards do require the player to be playing in rank matches to get them. Maybe it will be better in the future, but right now even Bronze level has some meta decks running about. And truth be told, looking at the later rewards for stuff like activating 3000 traps giving you a grand total of 400 gems does give me stingy vibes from konami lol.
@@KreuzDrache this is a tcg not a ccg, you will not be able to possess every card without buying some. If you want more of that experience go play legacy of the duelist
@@XrayTheMyth23 What? I never said anything about getting all the cards. Edit: I am suggesting spend your resources wisely so you do not spread yourself so thinly.
I really wanna see him play a Six Samurai deck. I know they aren't great but they're fun, decently versatile and I used to have a ton of fun with them. They've also got like actual lore behind them outside of "There were once elementl gods that went throught the universe kicking ass" or "Ancient Egypt am I right?"
I haven’t played in years, stopped around when pendulum came out. Is it fast because people aren’t reading and are just playing to their win con or is it just that in plat the meta is so set you already know everything that’s going on. It seems like a lot of shit, I’m not exactly new to the game but it looks like a lot of work to get back into
@@Peer_Review eh, even since I began playing master duel, it's been like every single person has their entire deck memorized. People juice through and in a few minutes I've either lost or I've won.
@@Peer_Review Not really. I do have those occasional 2 turn matches but those last less than a minute. Many of my games go into 4 or even 5 turns, even here in Plat.
It helps getting some cards which I'm not sure they let you dust but they're really shitty. Like, they give you one ROTA and that's it? At least so far for me and I just have 3 more solo routes to go.
Honestly I'm enjoying the lower tiers because they aren't the same all meta try hards. While I have skystrikers as a meta deck and ignisters/cyber dragons that can go far if played right, I much more enjoy my ancient gears, and fighting random off meta stuff.
Yeah I'm currently on Plat 3 and I definitely agree. Plat 1 control deck players are more disgusting given they took advantage of unbanned like Vanity or unlimited cards on the meta like Skill drained.

Getting the Exodia cards and the god cards made me feel like i clocked the game. Horrendously hard to play those decks effectively though. Im too trash lmao
As a longtime MtG player who's trying to learn YGO now, I think the difference in complexity is just that MtG's nuance is found in interactions between different cards and effects on the stack and the order in which they're resolved, while Yugioh's comes from every card having walls of text that aren't able to be summed up with universal keywords (though, MtG simplified their systems a LOT back in 2010 when M10 released).
The more you get into Yugioh(if you choose to), the more you're going to get the complexity you found between card interactions you found in Magic. Big example being Chain Blocking, a popular technique where you can 'Block' responses to certain effects because of them meeting their conditions for creating a chain(our word for stack). The first card in the chain link cannot be responded to with if the interaction the opponent has requires that to be the previous action in the Chain, because the card you put in the chain second is 'blocking' it.
