I liked one of the features in ARK. If a tool breaks and you have the resources/ability to build it, you just hit the hot key it’s assigned to and your character will rebuild it and the tool will auto assign to the hot key again.

The Sengoku Jidai, or warring states period, was brought about when several prominent families rebelled against what they believed to be a corrupt Shogunate. It quickly became a free for all with many of the local Lords pushing their own plans for reunification and the title of Shogun.

Glad to see I have my trustworthy game reviewer back... Cant start the day without coffee and a new splattercat game review...

I remember looking at Medieval Dynasty and the previous Dynasty game not that long ago, but digging into the developer I found out they make a lot of games that look promising, but always move on when the game still has work to be done to make it a great game. It's almost as they design a game, produce it just enough to make it a release, and figure out how they can make it better, but instead of taking that last game to the next level, they wait until the next game to implement their revelations and leave the last one in the dust.

It is good to wake up to a Splatty vid! Glad to have you back at it, my days were not the same without seeing awesome Indy offerings!

Glad you're back splat! I saw Medieval Dynasty and tried it, it just felt a bit too cheap to me for that price. It's hard to explain... but these kind of games just have a look to them that turns me off right away from them. This, House Flipper... basically everything from PlayWay. That and the constantly breaking tools drives me up a wall. I do agree about not having weight systems in games. I didn't know how amazing that would be until I played Dragon Quest Builders 2. Something like 10 pages of inventory, every square able to do 999 stacks, and the ability to unlock the unlimited use of items like wood and stone.

Correction, the firearm that was introduced during that time period was the matchlock, not the flintlock. Flintlock guns were invented in the late 17th century (late 1600s).

It looks like the tool tip didn't popup, but if you have multiple axes/hammers in your inventory, it'll automatically switch to the new one when it breaks. Just don't run out of tools or you'll have to slot them again.

40 year old manga fan and Japan's history enthusiast writing here: I live in Brazil and grew up watching animês and buying ALL sorts of mangas (hundreds which I still keep in my old bookshelf collection at home). Learned how to draw and made my life out of these arts (I'm a teacher nowadays), so, its only natural I got a personal affinity for the oriental culture. I did notice when "Medieval Dinasty" came out. Amazing project, great style, and definately a title I was willing to try in the future... just didn't get the chance/time yet due to my busy life routine, AND ALSO, the most important, because it felt just like "another farming simulator" like soooo many others out there. Yeah it was pretty, but man, everybody does the same medieval sim farming simulator just the same, don't they? Why can't they stir things a little? There are so many different countries and cultures waiting to be explored via games, and that is why "Sengoku" caught my attention: ITS DIFFERENT. Something new for a change. Yeah its basically a re-skin of Medieval Dinasty, but that was exactly what we needed. A different approach to the same old, same old europpean medieval simulator, but now through the lens of a different country. Japan is a great pick. So would be the Aztecs in Mexico, Mayans in Peru, Persians, there are so many great dinasties which could work in a game, if done properly. Enough with the same, already... bring us innovative perspectives! I shall not play Medieval Dinasty, but I'll definately get Sengoku. Thanks for the video.

Man I wish these developers concentrated on medieval dynasty. They could have had a good combat system with fighting and quests, village defence with troop control, rival villages, some type of terrain manipulation or mines, possible anarchy with king/queen, larger maps or sections to fight over, training camps/buildings, rent trained villagers to the king for war/trade/advisors/educators. This game is a good idea left short dam!

Splatty! we missed youz!!! General graphics look decent, animations so-so. I LOATHE radial menu's myself.... so "console-centric" (which I also LOATHE), I luv that you can break down the old ruined buildings. I HATE when survival games have old builds you can't destroy, or even rebuild!, it's pretty immersion breaking. Item durability, and the crafting stamina, yup agree, those clearly need some "adjustment".

I love the look of this and I'm excited to see how to grows.

The rocks on the roof are just to keep the wind from blowing it off. Very common on traditional wood shingled buildings, but you can even see them on thatched roofs sometimes.

I missed Splat.. the ‘it doesn’t look like I can rotate’ while the two options on screen are about rotating was classic. Despite things like that (that I’d probably be guilty of too if I tried to do what he does) I really appreciate him showing off the content he does. I’ve picked up a handful of games after watching him try them out

Actually most Japanese hearth of the period usually seat in a stone well under the floor level of the house to prevent fire hazard. Thus it called a sunken hearth.
