The Highwaymin and the Orra Loon 

2019 has been announced as the United Nations as the International Year of Indigenous Language.
Scots is one of the main languages of Scotland but even Scots has numerous dialects, one of which is Doric, the dialect of Aberdeen and the northeast of Scotland.
Doric is such a distinct dialect that some even argue it is a language of its own.
Northeast Scotland folklore harks back 1,000's of years and this short film stems from a 17th century local tale from the Huntly area where a young naive farming lad (Orra Loon) has a run in with a unscruplious traveller who tries to take advantage of the farm worker's good nature to steal the farm wages.
We had great fun creating this short film, despite the extreme windy conditions.
The film was awarded a Merit Award at the 2019 Doric Film Festival.
