Thanks for another great video! Working on that pattern now. If you are still looking for 90s songs I have two possible candidates: 'Moving On Up' by M People. Not sure how famous it was. And one that maybe qualifies, as I think was released in the 90s. 'Iron Lion Zion' by Bob Marley, the outro solo. Especially the fade out has a cool pattern.

I love your stuff Jamie you give so much it's brill.....however I have say this is about as unmelodic as you can get.....jars my ears actually.....but I could consider chucking it in as a novelty if I was out of ideas....keep em coming though....can't all be winners!
@GetYourSaxTogether
@GetYourSaxTogether 3 года назад
Yup, it's not melodic in a traditional, lyrical way, I agree. It's an angular, jarry, ambiguous sound. But the beauty of music is the fact that it can express many emotions - not just diatonic lyricism. The BEAUTY of music is in the fact that it can jar your ears, then when you hear a Lester Young ballad it'll sound all the better. I like to have a wide palette to paint with, so I don't think it's so much that this video isn't a winner, or that it's a novelty, I think maybe you don't like the taste of this dish. The fault isn't with the food. I don't like sweetcorn that much, but there's nothing wrong with sweetcorn! lol
@abrh509
@abrh509 3 года назад
@@GetYourSaxTogether that is very true about the taste of the dish....and I totally agree about having a wide palette to paint with....perhaps it's just that it's a new sound to me and I'm not sure how I could use it (yet).....unfamiliar....help...how....where....when......lots to think about....!!!

What a bear! Reminds me a bit of #131 from Rascher's 158, but even more insane and in FIVE! Is this your idea? Or did someone show you it? What a wild pattern. It's going to take some time for me to it get under my hand. Thanks... I think. I can see you doing it in the middle and upper ranges, but down low... my pinky fingers are getting a real workout!
@GetYourSaxTogether
@GetYourSaxTogether 3 года назад
That low bit is a bear within the bear world! I'll give you a tip though - when you play the Ab (the 5th note of the first ascending version), use the C# LH pinkie key, then you're in position for the next note already.
@bobpremecz5429
@bobpremecz5429 3 года назад
@@GetYourSaxTogether yup, know about holding down the LH pinkie for lots of similar hurdles, but thanks for tip. So who came up with this pattern? You never said.
@GetYourSaxTogether
@GetYourSaxTogether 3 года назад
@@bobpremecz5429 there seems to be some debate. Others have commented that they saw it by Bergonzi etc, but my mate Finn Peters taught me it.
