Honestly, I think the reason why the new Yu-Gi-Oh! movie didn't do well was because it was released in JANUARY!!! The month where practically NO ONE is going to watch movies in theaters. Also that would make sense seeing how Battle of Gods and Resurrection F made MUCH MORE money than Dark Side of Dimensions and both of the two DBZ movies were released during the Blockbuster Season (more specifically in August of 2014 and 2015 respectively)
Thank you for continuing this! While I'm a bit saddened that Dark Side of Dimensions didn't do as well in the box office as One Piece Film Gold, I'm not surprised. Unfortunately nostalgia can only do so much and Funimation has offered One Piece uncut for a very long time now. Personally I'm hoping Konami/4K Media does like they did with their DVD release of bonds Beyond Time and offers a dual-audio track with English subtitles. It would boost sales and allow older fans to LEGALLY see the movie in its original format.
Three reasons (at least I think) why DSoD made small profits: 1) It was released in January, a month that, statistically, movies make an average or less than average amount of money at the box office. 2) Despite the fact that it was released through the same company and had a lot more theaters under their belt, they made the mistake of choosing theaters that, logistically, made it difficult for people to get to. DBZ Battle of Gods and Resurrection F played at a theater about five miles from my house. However, if I wanted to see DSoD, I would have to have traveled about fifty miles to go to the nearest theater that was showing it. 3) The marking could've been a tad more aggressive. Yes we got the trailers and a couple of clips on the official RU-vid channel, but Resurrection F got a sneak peek on Toonami, so who's to say that that type of exposure would've worked to DSoD's advantage.
FoxBox 100% Awesome Because they were falling behind around the time they got dubbing season 3 of Gx 5ds was practically done and they wanted to get caught up with Japan and they just didn't have the money to dub both season 4 of Gx and season 1 of 5ds at the same time. But personally I would like to see yugioh DM GX 5DS ZEXAL and ARCV all dubbed uncut.

"Uncut." There was no visual censoring, but there were changes in script that left the English dub unclear while the Japanese version makes more sense.
The 4kids video are my favorite from you (also how I found your channel). Seeing part 3 was great. I wish I went and saw the new Yugi-Oh movie being that I was excited for it. I saw a trailer for it when I was seeing XxX, planned to see it, but I didn't have the money. Can't wait for part 2, love your vids!
i th8ink the reason it didnt do so well was because the fans knew that 4kmedia was dubbing the movie and knew it was it was going to be changed in an untasteful way. which happened with some dialogue and music changes. there are impactful scenes in the sub but the audio mixing and dialogue tone it down in the dub(when kaiba summon deep eyes white dragon) .
Aw, I'm sad i missed the new yugioh movie. I would've watched it if i didn't have so much going on in my life plus maybe some extra advertisement would've reminded me to go. Still, it did MUCH better than Jem and the Holograms!
Had they opened up the new movie for more theaters then maybe it would've done better, nearest theater that was screening the movie was at least more than 100 miles away
To be fair, the movie was great until the focus was taken off the original characters, for some reason only Battle of Gods with Beerus is the only original villain that contributed to a limited theatrical dubbed release, outside of the new characters, this new movie was made for fans, Eric Stuart aka Seto Kaiba did most of the writing which is great, enjoyed watching your specials.
I'm happy to say I watched both One Piece Gold and Yu-Gi-Oh Dark Side of Dimensions in theaters, although I'm surprised One Piece did better. When I went to see YGO, it was far more crowded.
Sadly, 4K Media is 4Kids under a different name. You'd think that Konami would have them get their crap together and maybe try to appeal to the Yu-Gi-Oh fans that have already grown up, but no, Konami just had to let them continue as normal. Box Office Mojo list's Dark Side of Dimensions's performance as $1,015,339. That's less than half of Battle of Gods, and even if the movie cost 1 million USD total, that's still no noteworthy profit. "Uncut." Dark Side of Dimensions's dub is less clear than the Japanese version. The real losers in the fall of 4Kids are the voice actors. When it went under, a lot of New York-based voice actors either lost their jobs or had to move to Los Angeles. I hope there's a part 4 to this series. You completely skipped over the fact that Yu-Gi-Oh uncut was a thing, and it was distributed by FUNimation. Not only that, but there Shaman King uncut was also released. Sadly, these didn't get the attention they deserved. Perhaps 4Kids would have matured faster had the uncut sales boomed. Bonds Beyond Time was also skipped over. Just a couple of nitpicks, the extent that 4Kids went to edit Yu-Gi-Oh left a weird yellow filter on during some scenes, and for some reason they decided that Mickey Mousing it was the best way to go about making their music for their dubs, Sonic X and VRains at least.
You should've also mentioned how 4kids were releasing uncut DVDs for a brief time, before almost immediately canning them (they "competed with their edited products", as they claimed). The sad thing is that this happened around the same time that 4kids first announced their acquisition of One Piece, which they gave the impression that they'd do a decent job with after they unveiled their English version of the first opening, We Are! How ironic that 4kids looked like they were actually turning themselves around, only to turn to shit even worse than ever before with the cancellation of those DVDs and One Piece's actual broadcast.
YamatoFukkatsu they canceled it due to the fact that it was affecting the sales of their edited version that was on sale for DVD at the time also as it came out later the whole uncut deal they made with Funimation is ultimately what led to them getting sued to begin with which led into 4kids death almost losing the Yu-Gi-Oh! title to begin with. Guarantee you they'll never be releasing on uncut Yu-Gi-Oh anime because of this fact.
Don't be blind. Kojima was never going to bring a New Renaissance and David Hayter himself confirmed that he's not that great of a guy. There's a reason Hayter has no particular love for him.
I've seen the movie and it's actually pretty good from the previous Yugioh movies 4kids try to dub! But it doesn't really take the cake as much as I love the card game I only got into Yugioh for the shipping's and The Abridged Series! But I do like the Japanese versions better! I just wish that Kazuki Takahashi would partner with Funimation! And maybe Funimation can do Yugioh season 0 English dub! I don't see that happening in the future the Yugioh franchise is probably going to go downhill! 😪 And I hate to see that happen in the next three years or so! The Yugioh franchise might not even be known anymore! 😥
Me Personally people saying that It was bad that the new Yugioh movie was released in January and how did was bad I disagree because one I like it and two it was talked about a lot on RU-vid and Twitter and Instagram and tumblr basically all over social media so it didn't do to bad for its self and just because big names like funimation didn't dub it doesn't mean it's bad personally I'm glad konami dubbed it because I feel like funimation would have changed the voice actors not that funimation is bad but I'm really glad konami dubbed it
+Destini Driver The day Funimation gets the Yu-Gi-Oh title is the day the franchise well and because Funimation will redub if that get of whole of it. I don't most likely revert the names back to Japanese names which would not be a good idea at this point in the game. They would make you read Japanese text and then put the English letterings on top where you would be forced to read it rather than just read it on the card like they did in the example in the movie not that 4kids has done that before prior to this movie since they remove all text in the animes. But Funimation and Viz Media would make you read the text outside of the card and just keep the Japanese Texan play and I know this for fact because of hunter x hunter I kept the Japanese texting play for the cards for greed island but then just had the English text right on top of that and only give you a few seconds to read it.
TheSSUltimateGoku I have watched hunter x hunter before so I do know what your talking about but I don't want that for Yugioh because I feel like I would ruin it I like the way 4kids does it, I don't want subs over the cards that would make it look bad they use cards a lot in Yugioh so if you do that I would be a big mess and not look good I love the way they are doing it it works I know some people don't like it but a lot of people do and I am one of them and yeah some of the voices are bad but when your over look that it's a great franchise so what they censor things it doesn't mean it's bad they just don't want to show those things because the target audience is kids not teens and adults that's why the sub keeps the Violent scenes because that's their target audience in Japan and a few younger kids but still the whole point of my first post was to say that I like the way 4 kids does it and they usually half the time pick good voices for them not always but most of them time they do but that's just me and your entitled to your opinion.
Destini Driver Hunter x hunter English Dub bro that air on Toonami like last week. I only watch the English dub's in all animes by the way. Currently I on the Green Island Saga and when they show the cards they showed them in Japanese text and then they show the English text overlay them rather than just have them on the text on the card in English like the Yu-Gi-Oh movie does. I want the Yu-Gi-Oh dub to stay the way it was with the same voice. Only thing I'm pissed off about is they never finish the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX English dub. Which that should have.
OK there are some things very incorrect here. The real reason why Yu-Gi-Oh dark side of dimensions didn't really do good in the theaters was due to the fact they did not promote very well and put them in the wrong theaters. Like example Dragonball Z battle of gods and Dragonball Z revival of f work in theaters like the regal and we're close by to my local area. Yu-Gi-Oh Darkside of dimensions however there was not one theater that was running Yu-Gi-Oh Darkside of dimensions closest one was about three hours away! All the theater titles that Funimation has given limited theater runs to Dragonball Z You Name Black Butler and even most recently Fairy Tail. We're all in theaters close to my local area. Yu-Gi-Oh on the other hand did not do this now this to me is just bad marketing by Konami! B/c had it been around my local theater I would have bought it and would've gone to see it again there was another screening as I recently just bought the Blu-ray and enjoyed the movie! This is the reason why you didn't do that good the theaters that we're hosting it we're not popular theaters at all. They should've gone to areas that would've drawn in more money. Also it was only about 500 theaters not 800. I also doubt very highly that they're going to be selling any time soon to, Konami need Yu-Gi-Oh for the real life card game which is still very popular. 4KMedia aka Konami is 4Kids they sold the company and the production to produce office for the dubs to Konami along with The Yu-Gi-Oh title. Now in terms of crew Konami wanting to license other anime. They totally can do it if they want to it's just a matter of if they want to and of course the company that owns it in Japan would be willing to license to then. Personally I would like them to get Pokémon back so they can get Veronica Taylor back as Ash wishful thinking if you ask me... Also that just open up an Yu-Gi-Oh App Game with the 4Kids Voice Actor Yu-Gi-Oh is not going anywhere...
So, 4Kids dubbing studio is now owned by Konami? That means they're arguably worse off now than they've ever been, since Konami has also fallen from grace. To whom it may concern, Konami isn't in a very good spot right now either, and it's not just because they fired Hideo Kojima.
False. If it hadn't been for the buyout then neither "4" company would exist right now. Extending their life, prolonging their death. However you prefer to say it, the buyout did put them in a better position.
