This series definitely needs a comeback, be it game or cartoon form. If they can't use Cadillacs in the title, they can just go back to it's original name Xenozoic Tales.
No thanks, they'll just make it woke and it will be dumb as hell. They'll make Hannah an ugly girl and make Jack a trans female that is butch looking. The dinosaurs will also probably be gay and they'll drive an electric car.
I had the courage to IGNORE the little devices that summoned the cars because I preferred to go the Ken/Kenshiro route and just plod on and beat my enemies to a pulp on the third stage. I also wish that female thugs, as well as a female boss or two, would have been included in the game, along with legitimate simultaneous four-player game play.
I got around 2,000,000 or so points, along with spending around like $USD 10, to go through the entire game, for, as long as I have money, I do not die in an arcade game.
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries , hey, now that you got dual bork doggos, I just have to tell you that I now have a new Tuxie kitter, as of New Year's Day. He is still being mischievous, but I am slowly getting him to behave.
I remember playing Cadillacs and Dinosaurs in the arcades quite a bit. It was one of the very few games in 1993 that could pull me away Super Street Fighter 2, Samurai Shodown, and Virtua Fighter (Virtua Racing occasionally). The one thing I will never get over is that it never saw a proper Sega Genesis/Sega CD and (or) Snes release (I'm not including the "version" we got for the Sega CD. Cadillacs and Dinosaurs is one of the few incredible beat em' ups that for one stupid reason or another was kept off home consoles. Other games that failed to materialize were The Simpsons Arcade, X-Men Arcade, Golden Axe The Revenge of Death Adder, AVP, and Rastan 3 (that would be Saturn or Playstation). I was also not very amused when D&D Shadows over Mystara and D&D Tower of Doom only saw release on the Japanese Saturn (Japanese only releases don't count). Addendum- Yes, I realize that The Simpsons Arcade got a 360 release that Disney pulled down. I'm also aware that both D&D arcade games are playable today on an Xbox Series X. Bonus: If you guys want to play a beat em up of the same caliber as many of the games I listed above I have a suggestion for you. That game is Ninja Baseball Bat Man. It was a very obscure Japanese only arcade game that is fully playable on Mame. It is 1 part batsh*t insane, 1 part incredible, and is highly entertaining. Try it, you will love it! ;)
I think if the arcade game bid be released a couple of years earlier or a couple of years later we would've gotten the home release. A couple of years earlier it would've ended up on the Sega Genesis but a couple of years later a Sega Saturn port would have been possible. Ninja baseball Batman Has been on my list for a while and it is a lot of fun. Thanks
I started by watching your video on Gauntlet, because I remembered playing Legends as a kid, and now i'm just down your entire rabbit hole of cool niche arcade games from the 90's-00's. Great content man.
Fantastic, that's one of the things I set out to do when I started this channel was to give coverage to a lot of the little seen games of days gone by. Over the last five years it's grown to over 250 different reviews/documentaries. Thanks a lot
👍. I also really enjoy Armored Warriors + Battle Circuit. Those beatemups have depth to their gameplay & mechanics. D&D Shadow Over Mystara is also an amazing game 😎
Heres another pairing. "Eyes and Ears", cos that what we all are when Patman releases another awesome docmenentary. Thankyou Sir for another gem of a video. Thankyou.
I dont think Ive ever seen this in an arcade, but played it often over mame with friends, and it teaches an important life lesson, when facing an angry dinosaur the only way to calm it down, is beat the hell out of it.
Can't believe "Cadillacs and Dinossaurs" is the actual name of the game, I thought it was a whacky description that you throw in before saying the title of the thing like "Time travel & robots: The Terminator franchise" etc.
Nice video, and it's always cool to see someone mentions Nemezes's homebrew. Cadillacs is basically a institution here in Brazil because in almost every corner with a bar, you could see a machine with Cadillacs and Dinossaurs, so every kid who grew in the 90's here, know about this game.
I love Cadillac and Dinosaurs the Arcade from master's people from CAPCOM® the best beat them up arcade games the best games based on comic books and finally the best CAPCOM® Games of all times thank you for this episode history PatmanQC 👍👍
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-DocumentariesI really love the sprites and the artwork for this game the enemy characters design for Cadillacs and Dinosaurs is what you expected from other previous CAPCOM Brawlers and Fighters Games enemies like James and Bill Bull, Elgato and Razer and finally Bludge and Blanka 11:58 12:22 12:26 12:29
My ex wife asked me under a beautiful moonlit night, "two very wonderful things have come together, here" and I replied with "Cadillacs and dinosaurs, no wait, robocop vs terminator?". 😂😂😂😢
Thanks for the history lesson on this fantastic game! I think it's a real Capcom fan favorite! The music is rocking on every single stage from the beginning, right to the end with your final match with Dr. Fesseneden! A couple cool things to note are that you could let sleeping dinasaurs lay sleeping, or give them a few patty- wacks to tame them if they briefly attack you; also the scene where 4 fat boys run at your character from each corner of the screen and crash into each other at the center of the screen, if you successfully move your character away in time. 😝🤞🏾
I have always loved this game since I was a child, what I remember the most is that part where one of the enemies arrives and wakes up a Tyrannosaurus Rex to attack you, jajajaja.
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries I just saw a waltrough of the game, when the Tyrannosaurus appears it is woken up by one of the fat enemies but the tyrannosaurus was not tied to one leg.
I first saw a C&D arcade machine in, of all places, a bowling alley in Norway. Gave it a shot and loved it. It’s still among my favorite beat ‘em ups ever, and desperately deserves a release on modern consoles, though the licensing is probably a nightmare.
Cadillacs and Dinosaurs is one of my top five favorite Capcom beat'em ups of all time and it definitely needs a comeback along with the Punisher and Aliens vs. Predator coin-ops. Thanks for the video Patman
Great choice! I found this one through MAME, it never made the arcades where I was at the time and I find it to be the best and most 'mature' use of the 'punisher' game engine that was used for several of the last Capcom 16-bit side-brawlers. So much fun, especially steamrolling baddies by the dozen with my Caddy in the desert. It really is an arcade classic.
Fantastic work on this video! I finally saw the cartoon on Tubi a bit over a week ago, so the timing of this video was perfect. Capcom really did work some magic with that game.
Worth noting that at one point there was indeed a port of the brawler planned for the Nintendo 64, but I don't think it got very far along in development before being canceled before the system even released stateside.
I remember watching Cadillac and Dinosaurs on TV 📺 when I was a kid it's still excellent today I wish that a second season would happen and I will play the arcade game. 😀👍🎮
Another excellent upload, Pat! That early 90s Capcom beat-‘em-up formula remains undefeated! I also remember getting ‘Xenozoic Tales’ in paperback when Dark Horse acquired the license in the early 2000s.
I had no idea there was a cartoon. There was an amusement park near me that had this game, alongside the Dungeons & Dragons game so many a quarter left my pocket. I always thought it was strange that they called the dinos different names. Shivat, rock hopper, etc. I assumed they were character names but I'm not so sure now. They might be used for the species instead of a single pet. Great video. Since I saw it in the arcades, I've been waiting for a home release.
I remember watching this show when I was really young in the 90s. Good show, but only 13 episodes. I didn't realize that there was an arcade game or that it was based on a comic book until way later.
CPS 1 board games always interest me. See they beat neogeo to the punch in terms of basically a home console in an arcade via exchanging some of the board and not all - yet neogeo is more remembered for this. Capcom even released its cps-changer that uses SNES pads like neogeo aes. It was a good platform and favourite of mine in the arcades- well and truly powerful hardware at the time that home consoles couldn’t compete with till the Saturn and PlayStation era.
Before I get deep into this video I must confess...and this might seem silly to say but even though it's a Capcom game and I'm a huge fan of beat em ups I've never taken the time to play this game. The only Capcom beat em ups from the 90's that I played were the two D&D games Tower Of Doom and Shadows Over Mystara port for the Sega Saturn, Captain Commando for SNES and The Punisher for Genesis. Whenever a game was based on a movie or franchise I'm unfamiliar with, especially during the 90's and 2000s, I tended to shy away and miss out on many of them. This weekend since I've had the game sitting in my mame collection for so long I'm going to play it from beginning to end sometime this weekend. I already know your commentary will be great but the QSound music is what sold me about 2 minutes into the video lol 😃
Fantastic. I hope you have fun playing it. To be honest I've only played the dungeons and dragons games a handful of times so don't feel too bad. Thanks
The story line of Cadillacs and dinosaurs was what I imagined the last Jurassic World movie was going to be like.... Would have been soooo much better!
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries yeah I thought it was "meh 😕". After how the last one ended, by releasing all the dinosaurs into the populace, I thought the new one was going to be years later in a sort of post apocalyptic world. A world where humans had to be in hiding scavenging for goods because the dinosaurs were everywhere. But instead we get a normal looking period where dinosaurs are pretty much the new type of pigeons or stray cats. Like people would see them and just go about their lives walking around like nothing. And the big ones conveniently stayed out of the cities and were only in the woods or jungles?? Like come on now. Lame.
I have so many memories playing this game as a kid at my local mall arcade, Aladdins Castle. They had this machine right next to Lucky and Wild, and I would jump from one to the other - always busting my budget and begging for more money. I am not sure how popular it would be, but I would love to learn some backstory on Lucky and Wild.
Before Capcom Coi Op closed I came about and bought the sequel protype of this game called Cadillac's Pimps & Whores. It has Heidi Flice as a playable character
Great documentary and it was interesting to learn about the comic book history too. Thank you. I need to complete this game next chance I get. I only got through the first level and then ran out of time back then. Amazing how Blanka shows up. I never saw the Genesis version in stores, thanks for showing it. Thanks, Patman!
Another great one on probably my favorite beat em up ever. I always thought it was stupid that they never ported it to consoles. The C&D on Sega CD was the $hits.
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries It was amazing going there for holidays when i was a boy. Putting in those pesetas to play Street Fighter II with kids from other countries also being at the hotel. No one understood each other though, hehe.
Im a huge, lifelong Howard Stern fan, so as im listening to this as im taking out the garbage, i had to stop, rewind, and look when i heard "bababooey knife" 😅😅 I go "wait what??? Ive been listenint for 35 years, and i never heard of Baba Booey having a knife, or some joke about him and a knife, lemme see just what a bababooey knife is, cuz i--- oh wait... a BOWIE knife, so might as well throw a baba in front of booey....as peeps are known to do..." Lol awesome Ps i also like that you can bludgeon a dude to death with a bullet-less M16, instead of just losing your weapon like in other games
Great documentary about C&D! Good idea using the music of the game in the background! I hope you do that in the rest of the documentaries you do. By the way, I just realized that Jack and Hannah were named after the nature documentary wild America host Jack Hanna.
Thank you, I never realized that about the names either. Dundee could have been named after Crocodile Dundee as well but I found no evidence to support that
Good coverage and footage as usual Patman. I've heard soo much about this series and even more so the game but have never played it. I've always hoped it would be re-released in a beat em up pack but licensing issues probably prevents that along with Alien vs. Predator and Punisher.
This was one of the first games I've putted my name on the top. It was my birthday, and I've just received some cash... I went to the arcade right after and spent it all to put my name on it. My parents were angry af, but it was worth it.
Wow, I had forgotten this game existed, and I had no idea about its source material or that there was a cartoon! I always learn cool stuff from your vids. It's a shame Caddies And Dinos couldn't have been included on the Capcom Beat 'Em Up Bundle released a few years back.
Caddilacs and Dinosaurs along with AvP and the Punisher were meant to be included the beat em collection, but an agreement couldn't be reached so they were left out of it. It's a real shame in all accounts. It would been great to get the complete collection of all of Capcoms classic beat em ups.
SO sad that this never made it to consoles. This is right up there with River City Ransom as one of my favorite beat-em-ups. It just balanced things so "right."
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries someone also did that with super mario World with a rom hack. It was called strange mario world. This time Mario was overpowered by The weight of enemies.
There is a Chinese mobile game that doesn’t have a global release. The very strange thing about it is that the game is very clearly based on the Capcom game but is not licensed by them, but from Mark Schultz himself. It’s also called Xenozoic Tales which is the original comic name. The gameplay is more fighting game based and seems inspired by The King Of Fighters All Star.
The unused dinosaur is a compsognathus. It was pivotal in the original Jurassic Park novel but didn't make it to film until The Lost Wold Jurassic Park movie and PsOne videogame tie in. Despite a JP toy by Kenner made for it and other dino designs that didn't make the final cut. Also Godzilla's squeal is used in Cadillacs and Dinosaurs when you punch a Dino 0.o ?
With all the recent obscure and dormant I.P retro game re-releases we are getting from Limited Run an Digital Eclipse; I hope that both the Arcade game and Sega CD game; get re-released in one compilation for current and next gen platforms (especially for the Nintendo Switch ecosystem. A double pack of those two games would probably help cover the license fees; unless Capcom can just release a Marvel/Disney beat em up bundle with the Punisher, Alien VS Predator and Cadillacs and Dinosaurs (since at this time all 3 are owned by Disney/Marvel).
The problem with the dinosaurs IP is the number of people involved that would have to get on board. Mark Schultz the creator, possibly kitchen sink press, CBS who did the cartoon, Capcom and General Motors. That's a lot of pieces of the pie to share. The same thing happened for decades when it came to the 1966 Batman license which wasn't resolved until about 10 to 15 years ago
@patmanqc-historyofarcadega6601 Sad but true. At best, maybe the gane can be brought to current platforms with some changes if names Gere and there; (Lol "Cars and Dinosaurs); while retaining most of what makes the arcade game so good (like the music)!
This looks awesome but I don’t think I’ve ever played it. I’m 49 and didn’t think I’d missed many of Capcom’s fighters, I’m in the UK so I don’t know if it made it over here or not? Great video as always.
How are the dinosaurs endangerd if they are a dominat spicies again? If anything the potchers are just ordenary hunters. Also yes, please do the rail shooter this is such a cool looking series!
6:09 Yes can you do the review of Cadillac and Dinosaurs on the SEGA CD PatmanQC I love that game not only the SEGA CD game I love and enjoy but I also enjoy Cadillac and Dinosaurs the Arcade from CAPCOM® but can you do the SEGA CD game please PatmanQC!!
I get wood in the morning and a "lobon" in the afternoon if I'm lucky. I also don't have to handstand to pee in public like I do in the morning in my bathroom.
