Fun fact: Back in the late 80s, Orion wanted a crossover of the two characters for a movie but was scrapped in favor of Robocop 2 due to James Cameron buying the rights to Terminator and sold it to Carolco Pictures and Tristar for T2, so even if things worked out, they still had to deal with Cameron making Terminator 2 from a different comedy and legal battles. Thus, a movie crossover was definitely impossible to make in movie form.
Another great documentary Pat! I love when you show the old commercials! It's nostalgia galore! Edit: They should've made this into a movie. The story idea is very plausible for both universes!
Thanks for the nice words. I'm glad I could scratch that nostalgic itch. This is the crossover movie we should have received. I guess it's something that could still be done and animation form and even get Arnold for the voice and possibly Peter Weller for Robocop. Make it so Capt.
There were plans to make a movie but Arnold Schwaneger and Peter Weller refused to reprise there roles there are some good videos about this look em up
Awesome video! North American Master System owners back in the day were jealous of NES owners who had Contra and Super C, but European Master System owners could play Robocop vs Terminator, which is a damned good run-n-gun in its own right!
Its funny to me how creative they were through the whole Game on Sega and for the Boss they simply thought ''yeah, lets make it a big Terminator Head'' :D Loved RvsT back then as a Kid,was blown away that it had also details in like the T 800 showing parts of the Skeleton when fighting against him.
Next to AVP, this has been my favorite crossover and best thing to have come out of the 90's pop culture. Considering how the movies had lost steam lately and each entry having less success than the previous one, I think they really should make a Robocop Vs The Terminator movie as one last entry and the only idea left where audiences would see it since shared universes are really a big attraction nowadays. Was happy that their crossover in MK11 references their history in games and comics, and annoyed at the damn kids who think they are referencing Death Battle 😒
Robocop and the Terminator get a rematch in the latest Mortal Kombat 11... As well as they can square off against all of the Mortal Kombat competitors :)
In the original Robocop film, he was supposed to be MUCH more agile. Peter Weller even studied with a world renowned mime, in France, to get the movement down, which all had to be changed. Unfortunately, the suit was just too cumbersome to move around in. Any shot of Robocop in the car, was because he had no robo-pants on. It's also why the now famous movie poster, shows him with just his foot on the car door frame. He couldn't get in.
Robocop versus the Terminator this game brings back memories I have it for the Sega Genesis and I remember entering the codes for Blood and for females if I remember correctly but definitely a phenomenal game with some awesome music.
Crossovers are one of the biggest genres in all of history and comic books are the prime examples that brought the crossover genre. With such huge success it brings attention to games and movies. Where we love to see our favourite franchises duking out each other to show who’s the better franchise characters. It’s like dream match we love to see in wrestling.
RoboCop and Terminator are two of my all time favorite movie franchises which I enjoyed watching RoboCop 1 and 2, The Terminator 1 and The Terminator 2 Judgment Day..I missed my days watching these classic movies, I loved watching old school retro movies and cartoons, playing retro video games..and whenever there is an arcade game history, I loved to get myself ready for some hours of watching your histories..hopefully to see some more good old arcade game history and always have a very wonderful great time to enjoy my beautiful relaxation day, Have a Very Wonderful Day, Mr. Patman and Stay Safe Always 😉👍
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries to be honest. This wasn't the first time 2 rivals had their reunion in a Mortal Kombat tournament as Alien and the Predator met again in Mortal Kombat X with meeting Jason Voorhees (Friday the 13th) and Leatherface (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) for the 1st time.
That Skynet (or giant t800 head) is ridiculous. I tried to beat this game without using cheats and never managed it. I used an invincibility cheat on the skynet fight just to see the ending and it took like 20 minutes of that giant head soaking up bullets.
Thanks for another great documentary. I never looked at this title before as I assumed it would suck! I can see myself now playing through both 16bit versions on my RP2. Thanks once again.
I played a little bit of it back in the day but not a whole lot and was more than pleasantly surprised when I played through this time as to how good it really was
It's weird that i either completely missed this game or just forgot about it. I just don't remember playing it. And actually i think it's because at some point i played the NES rom, and it wasn't exactly impressive. Well anyway now i need to add this title to my list. I constantly look for the hidden jems and imports and anything i otherwise missed or overlooked in the past. There's so many amazing games lost to time that i sort of care more about that than what's new.
I Iremember the commercial for this game. They used the Ministry song "Corrosion" in the commercial if I remember correctly. Kind of fitting considering the club scene in the first Robocop movie used a song from PTP called "Show Me Your Spine", which was a side project with Al Jourgensen of Ministry, Lard, 1000 Homo DJs, and Rev Co fame.
I recently discovered this channel and I have to say I am a huge fan. I'm currently out of action with a broken foot and your videos are a godsend. To take my mind off of the pain. Thank you very much my friend
Great video Pat. And you are 100% correct that it's nice Robocop in this gory game is thankfully more agile than his onscreen persona at 7:32 . I can't believe I missed out on this classic Genesis release in 1993, but will look into it now after watching your video. My Genesis is still going since 1989. Thanks!

Great video! - I used to love playing the Master System version of this. Also those strange films you mentioned at the start are very amusing - i haven't heard of them before (apart from Dracula meets Wolfman).
This is why I love patmans vids....he gets us. All u need in life is a laser rifle a laser middle gun and a and good friends.....robocops idea not mine lol....it's all over tv this weekend in Boston in case u all get THIS-TV

One thing I would like to see, is this game get an HD upgrade and be released for modern Consoles. Most cult classic games have been getting re-releases as of late would be nice to have this brought back too.
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries I do believe that there are is small list of games you've covered that were on my remake list gotta remember which ones.
My favorite was the one where the cowboy would say "after these messages will be riiiight back" and then he would whistle and the horse would fall in his head...
Patman QC said, "Today though, we are going to talk about two box office behemoths that will clash to determine the fate of mankind. NNNO, I'm not talking about the Bollywood version of Superman meets Spiderwoman!" 😂🤣😆😁 That clip of that Superman flying around with Spiderwoman and then dancing with her after they land was deja-vu to me. I think that was really a clip from a music video from India. That was pretty funny and it made my day. Anyway, I don't know if anyone takes notice of your amusing style of making your videos funnier by mentioning funny things that you are not really talking about. 😝
The Genesis version I felt was way more graphic and violent than any Mortal Kombat game back then. I can still hear Robocop yelling in my head when his energy runs out haha Also, this was and still is the crossover movie I have been waiting for!
Ugh, a friend left the snes version at my house, he said "nah" when I asked if he wanted it back. The soundtrack sounds like the composer picked the most annoying voice on a casio and said "I'll have four channels of just this".
Great video. I had no idea this game had come out until long after when I was buying old Genesis games on Ebay a few years ago. Although, I wish it would've given you the option to select the T-800 Terminator as well. Maybe as a 2 player too, kind of like the Iron Man/X-O Manowar game. Hey now that's a good idea of a video for you to make.
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries Glad to hear it! I am good too buddy right on..just working and giving my money to my girlfriend for bills lol..trying to keep the peace in the house!
Surprised you didn't mention the awesome little twist from the snes version about how was setup by skynet to use his data uploader, how skynet trapped him in place all throughout judgement day and how robocop found himself in the future, partly responsible for humanity's destruction. It was a hell of a twist especially when I knew nothing from the comic books. I never played the genesis version so I didn't know the story just ended with a "prevented it from happening" scenario. Awesome games and worthy of playing both.
I grew up with the Genesis port which I love....VERY hard game but love it. Only good thing about the SNES port was the game box. They went all out with it having that molded plastic box cover.
Most people don't know this but the Genesis version is the first time a video game used actual real life video in its game, all of that footage from Detroit is real life, that's exactly what it looks like here
I Love The Best Crossover Franchise Ever Yet to Come From Everything From ROBOCOP Versus The Terminator Comic's Transformers Versus The Terminator Comic's And Then Finally My Little Pony Meets Transformers a.k.a My Little Pony/Transformers Comic's The World of Crossover's Awaits.
Allegedly there was also a SEGA CD version that was in development that woukd've had a CD soundtrack & extra levels w/scaling & rotation fx but it's unclear if it was cancelled early on or before development started. If it was anything like The Terminator CD, I feel it would've been nice to see!
The Genesis game has some interesting Gameplay. The old Data East arcade game was a traditional slow protagonist shooters. Realtime seems to have known they should dump the quarter dumping style of the original and make the game fun and winnable. It's amazing how console developers failed to make the game winnable because Nintendo or whoever thought that if we rented a game and didn't beat it in a day because were completely frustrated by the game being cheaply spiking difficulty early we would decidedto buy the game instead of never wanting to see it again. They looked at Contra's home game sequels, but they seem to have also wanted to keep much of the feel of the Data East game. So Robocop walks slowly and flies when he hanging on a wire. For much of the game he's kind of got stupid weapons vs the enemies. Trying to play the game again, there was an sudden difficulty spike on the third boss. Robocop is required to jump and grab and doing so was not reliable. Failure to move could lead to almost an immediate loss of a life as there was moment of invincibility when being hit. I suspect once I got the motion down it wouldn't be a problem since the boss wasn't fast, but the way the robot life drained here (and under some flame traps) left the game with a rough around the edges feel despite the quality of the graphics and sound. Still, I think this was a pretty solid game on the Genesis. Unlike the SNES version. I don't know why they made it look so different when they didn't need to (Except the obligatory Mode 7 level).
Different developers is one of the reasons why games were so different. Just look at the six different Batman returns games on the various systems all by six different developers. I sure did love the arcade Robocop game.
I think the Sega Genesis version of this game served as template for the Demolition Man, Stargate and Judge Dredd games. But they say that the Snes version of Judge Dredd is better.
Honestly the only thing I liked about the super Nintendo version as far as graphiCS Were the comic panels in between each level. The graphics and the Genesis had a much more gritty field of them which suited more tonally with the Terminator and Robocop franchise.
I rented that Genesis version maybe 5 times or so from the low cost video rental place nearby our house way back. Definitely remember using that 54 lives cheat code to beat the game. Good times back then.
The Mandela effect occurs between Robocop & Terminator in Mortal Kombat 11, I'll let y'all guys solve this mystery. Because obviously there is a glitch in our reality to the point where it mirrors the broken online picture of Grand Theft Auto V.
