Yep. It's pretty interesting to see just how many games they've been involved with over the years and how almost none of them have survived beyond Runescape.
Great video, I've played runescape on and off for 15 years and I had no idea about these games, good job collecting what little info there is out there
Me, it was pretty nice back then, and I remember my cousin also telling me about fake websites that claimed the game launched and I could “sign in to play” but ended up getting hacked, fortunately got my account back though
If I had to guess what Mechscape was meant to be… I’d say No Man’s Sky. As a web and app developer myself who was once one of those fans longing for the release, by “couldn’t get it working”, I’m fairly certain they could… on an environment from that era with enough effort maybe, but no way with todays tooling and such, it definitely wouldn’t compile and get errors out the wazoo if I had to guess, assuming they still had all of the code even. Thanks for the video, that was insightful!
I was all about this game for like the entire time. I was tabbed over dungeoneering on the official forums waiting to dump my runescape account for it. And it seemed like one piece at a time they scrapped every part of this game and somehow implemented it into runescape. This game seems like it was gunna be dungeoneering/divination/invention/archeology and instances on different stars and planets. Instead we got anachronia. lol.
Instead we literally got port's. Which were just rereleased as redesigned armour instead of mech suits and stuff. it all fit together. even if it didnt.
