Xiongnu were descendants or Huaxia of the Xia dynasty, the first Chinese Dynasty, The Xiongnu are considered as the Proto-Turks, the ancestors of all Turkic groups.

Although my last name is Hispanic, it is by marriage... Both of my parents were Hungarian refugees, from Sopron and Dunabogdany. My father was a history buff - especially when it came to Hungarian origins and different tribes of the Eurasian steppe. The Magyars, Bulgars and Chuvash would feature in interestingly as part of this topic. But, I did enjoy this discussion for its thoroughness. I too, have a fascination for history and am learning as much as I can about the Scythians and Huns.

It's interesting you should mention. I am actually currently working on a video which does include a portion on the Magyars, coming soon so stay tuned

@Annette Velásquez Szia hogy vagy? My parents both came from Budapest (but my brother and I were both born in the USA). My Mother was from Buda and my Father was from Pest. I learned about our culture, history and language at an early age. I learned Magyar before I could speak English. Anyways keep on reading and learning if you're interested in more about the history of our ancestors just let me know and I'll send you a list of recommended reading ok?

Fascinating information. We hear so little from this region in modern times. (the _____stan countries)

I agree, especially from the perspective of a U.S. citizen. I have seen a few folks from Kazakhstan due to shared acquaintances, but unfortunately I did not get a chance to speak with them. I know they had a conversation with a Russian so that was interesting to see.

That was exaggeration of contemporary historians. They wrote 2 mln. people was killed in one city, by modern historians calculated how much was the population of the city of that time which was max. 100 thousand people. So contemporary historians multiplied the casualties by 10 fold.

You totally forgot about the Avars in 6th century. They ran from the Eastern Eurasian steppe and were there later replaced by GokTurks. But in Europe they totally destroyed the Germanic Gepid kingdom in Pannonia, they also had a heavy impact to the Byzantine empire and Slavs that lived in a Lower Danube basin and Northern Black sea. At that time the Slavs also began to migrate into the West. In comparison to the famous Huns that were placed there for a century, the Avars presence and influence lasted for 2 or possibly 3 centuries, before Charlemagne finally defeated them. It was estimated that they extracted a large amount of gold from Byzantium,that would be today worth of 11 billion in US dollars. Charlemagne built an own empire with that treasure and that was the true rising of the Franks.

Thank you for your comment. This is a very interesting topic that you have raised. I had discussed the Rouran Khanate and people, which some scholars believe fled westward and became Avar people of the Pannonian basin. The question of whether the Rouran and the Avars were related is still somewhat of a contentious issue which is why I did not discuss the Avars in the video, however it definitely something worth examining

@@bookofkings thanks for your answer. I am a Slovene. A Slav, today living in Slovenia, to some degree probably thanks to Avars. Otherwise I might still live in Belarus or Eastern Poland. Or at least my Slavic culture, language and those things. Huns caused a Germanic migration period in 4th century, while Avars made Slavic migration in 6th century. They actually caused a formation of nowadays ethnic lines betwen Romance, Germanic and Slavic peoples. That is theirs very underestimated and overlooked legacy.

Avar ancestors were the Rouran and they started off as vassals to the Xianbei tribes. The Xianbeis created various Chinese dynasties and their most important dynasty is the Northern Wei founded by the Tuoba clan. Meanwhile the Rouran also created the first Turkic empire or Rouran empire. These 2 empires clashed many times like as told in the story of the famous Chinese heroine, Hua Mulan.

The horse, the chariot or cart and , very important, the composit bow. A weapon that made it possible to shoot arrows with high velocity while sitting on the back of it on a galloping horse. Yes, the cavalry was in essence also an invention that came from the euro-asian steppe. The reason that these empires could grow so large is because those peoples had speed and superior weapons.

Kithans were mongolic people, not Han Chinese
@tedchandran
@tedchandran 3 года назад
Khitans were Proto-Mongols and they founded the Liao dynasty in Northern China and also, KaraKhitan empire in Xinjiang, parts of Khighizstsn, Kazakhstan, Iran and Afghanistan. Northern Han Chinese are considered to be of Khitanic Han phenotypes. The first Chinese aircraft carrier is also named the Liaoning.

But all these steppe people started from yamnayas . I guess all Turks had yamnaya blood in them , correct me if I am wrong .
@bookofkings
@bookofkings 3 года назад
The Yamnaya culture gave birth to the Indo-European languages, however the Turkic languages are believed to have originated from the Eastern Eurasian steppe. I hope that clarifies things
