Been to Mongolia 3 years ago and I absolutely loved it. The countryside is still so vast and empty with people still living in their Gers and everyone is super friendly :)

Gotta say, I really enjoyed the Great Man vs. Circumstances angle you took in this video, and major props for that detailed map of what the Steppe looked like before Genghis' conquests!

Mongol Empire expansion is what Mongolia is remembered for even tho this empire happened 800 years ago

The Mongols were great mathematicians there whole strategy was expand and simply.

It would've been cool to detail what happened during the time skips, why is Mongolia independent today, how to independent Mongolias are formed during the ming and Qing dynasties. I mean you've went into details for other countries having to divide the history into multiple videos, it would've been nice to know more about Mongolia.

Genghis Khan did not conquer the whole China. Song dynasty was fell by his grandson. One biggest legacy is all the areas ruled by Mongles are still under authoritarian rule. I think the psychological imprint Mongles left was brutality is the supreme method for ruling, not technology, not civil government and certainly not through kindness. This is part of the reasons that although China was one of the first republic in Asian (and before many European powers) fell back to communist dictatorship eventually.

Neolithic Age, Bronze Age (Myceneans,Minoans,Cycladics) , ancient years (greek tribes , city states , peloponnesian war, Alexander the Great's conquests and the fall of Greece by the Romans , Medieval Ages (Byzantine Empire and despotates and duchies there ) and the Modern Era (turkish and venetian rule including the Greek Renaissance , greek enlightenment and the rise of nationalism with the semi-autonomy of 1700 and later and the mercenaries in armies , the Greek Revolution and then the Monarchy and the expansion of Greece , Balkan wars , ww1 , interwar , ww2, the civil war , military Junta and the newest age of information till today

I travelled in mongolia a trip I will never forget I went to the eagle festival unforgettable and suffered 3days to get there ! I sing and play guitar and it was a great way to be popular with the mongols or Kazaks I would like to visit there again but the years fly by !

The only part I didn't understand was when you said the Qing dynasty settled the north with Han Chinese. The Qing were not Han people, and the Manchus are most probably closer to the Mongols than they are to the Han by blood and by culture.

Yeaa everyone asking why “didn’t you got into how modern Mongolia started?” Yea they skipped the Jindandao incident which most mongol historian say where modern Mongolia started. It happened during Qing rule and was done by the Jindandao secret society, originally it was against qing and mongols even though they were living in mongol territory. Over hundreds of thousands of mongols were massacred and then the Chinese Communist said it was a revolt against their “feudal lords” I question how 150,000 to 500,000 were all feudal lords? Also the fact being that all Dokuments from the Mongolian banners disappeared.(A banner is an administrative division of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Was used during the Qing dynasty.) They jumped over it.
