Love 😍Niagara Falls and would visit it almost every week while living in Toronto. Thank you for sharing this brief and sweet history. ❤

Thank you so much for all your wonderful research and all these minidoc videos that you create. You're doing more to help me flesh out the worlds of my novels than I think you realize. You're the first scholar I look up when I need to know something specifically Canadian.

Welland is also home to one of Ontario‘s Francophone communities.

Thanks for the history lesson about other parts of the Niagara Region outside of The Falls. Although I'll readily admit that Niagara Falls has always been my favourite place to visit (I love that kitschy, touristy vibe) there's definitely more to see down there. Good evening from Oshawa, Ontario. Regards, Shea Laking

Last time I was at the falls was around 2014, showing a friend from Michigan around and I was shocked to learn that The Maid Of The Mist is owned by the Americans now. We saw it ferrying people to and from the falls. Must be a sad story of how we let the Americans get our Maid. I have fond memories of The Maid from the 60s and 70s as a kid. I don't remember the name of the ferry we took in 14.

Maid of the Mist is still the name of the boats operated from the American side of the river. Niagara City Cruises runs boats called The Hornblower on the Canadian side and it’s run by Niagara Parks. The Hornblower boats are larger and I think more modern.

You should look into where the Niagara Escarpment ends. The Bruce Peninsula. Should you decide to do this let me know, I would be happy to tour you to some of the best spots. I don't do on camera, IATSE say its a NO NO with out scale..lol Don't take my advice though. Read a book called The Bruce Beacons. Unfortunately most Torotonians go to Wasaga and Halibertian area. It is the Kitchener/Hamilton/London crowd that know the Bruce Peninsula. You came close to the Peninsula on your story about Meaford.

The Niagara escarpment doesn’t end at the Bruce Peninsula, it continues all the way through lake Michigan and then into Illinois. Also, Meaford ❤ one of my favourite towns in Ontario.

Brock did NOT die at the site of the monument.

Not precisely at the spot but he was shot and killed on the slope to the river that’s overlooked by the monument.

Niagara on the Lake should be ashamed of still allowing the horse carriage businesses. So many tourists and locals have signed petitions to stop this cruel practice.

They used to grow fruit in Niagara. Now they grow basements, destroying some the finest soil in the world. I fear in the not too distant future we'll come to regret eroding our ability to feed ourselves.

I may sound like an old dude but I prefer people from urban centres (Toronto) to rethink their move. It’s beautifully different here and you may not be able to adjust.

A bit dramatic of a statement.

The Niagara Falls tourist area is one of the biggest rip-offs in North America. They seem to want people to come once and take most of their money, rather than have it more affordable where people would make return trips. Not a very smart business model IMO. Nice video on the region though !

..to call Niagara "one of the most beautiful parts of the entire province" is a bit of a stretch 😂 - Torontonians moving here are destroying what's left of the green spaces - "Hey, just moved to Niagara from Toronto and live on what was once an orchard or possibly a woodlot" ... i mean, come on, folks

Ah yes l, only people from Toronto move to Niagara.
