It's not completely accurate to say it no longer exists. The genus is currently considered dubious, not completely overwritten. The holotype tooth is still up for possible legitimacy as _Troodon formosus_
Well we have Indo Rexes that turn invisible and Indo Raptors that follow lasers. So sure why not. At least the original Ingen version of the Troodon made sense, small and venomous.
@@bigfatcarp93 I just refreshed my mind about that topic. Most of the found teeth are from Stenonychosaurus inequalis and the recently founded genus of troodontid dinosaur Latenivenatrix mcmasterae.
Up next on the tour is the Troodon: One of the most intelligent carnivores, we now know that Troodon is actually venomous, causing hallucinations and eventually paralysis, allowing this carnivore to eat at its leisure. This makes Troodon a beautiful, but deadly, addition to Jurassic Park!
Child: Excuse me sir! Can I ask a question? Veterinarian: Sure go ahead! Child: At home I have a Dinosaur book where I had read and learned about dinosaurs. And I don’t remember running into a Troodon ‘Pectinodon’. The only Troodon I have found was Troodon ‘Formosus’. Why is that? Veterinarian: I, I have no idea. That’s an excellent question. I may have to ask about it in the genetics lab.
I think the updated Troodon design in JW:E is to make them look more believable next to the existing style of dinosaurs present in the game. As well, if you go with the idea that the Telltale game is soft-canon to the movies, then how they look in Evolution could be an indicator as to what they might look like in a modern "World Era" take on that storyline compared to the older "Park Era" one from the game itself.
I always assumed the reason they look different in 'Evolution' was that like Klayton said in one video, Sorkin's method in cloning "pure" Troodons resulted in creatures with unstable DNA (hence why they looked so sickly.) The Troodons in Evolution are the same creature, but with more stabilized genes, since they used Wu's 'shortcut' method just like all the other dinosaurs. As such, the design change makes more sense.
The reason Jurassic World Evolution doesn’t use the same Troodon design as the Telltale game version is because they were not allowed to use dinosaur models from other games. This was stated in a comment to a person on Facebook that had the same question. However, the Troodon in JWE does have a skin that looks like a muted/toned down version of the Telltale game’s color scheme (white base, black top with stripes, and reddish underbelly.)
That makes me think because telltale no longer exists what happens to those models? Are they free range for the franchise? Are they still protected through copyright stuff? I dunno just came into my mind
soft canon does not mean this is 100% canon, especially with the events with jurassic world. However that does not mean i do not want this part to be canon but can you 100% say that the troodon of that game is canon? of course not and it will be so until otherwise said.
Well, you never know! We never saw all of the dinosaurs captured by Ken Wheatley in Fallen Kingdom, so just like Dilophosaurus could be a possibility, so could Troodon! (I would at least like a toy from mattel)
True, as well as the fact that they now have the resources to extract and produce there own list of dinosaurs even those outside of Ingen's List. So we could have more dinosaurs coming out way and not just the ones they rescued. Here is hoping.
Mark Gasto still better than being 100% declared as non canon. I like to believe the troodon species was wiped in the cleanup of 94 or during Masrani's construction of JW. And the lack of acknowledgement for the species works along the lines that John Hammond did order them to be euthanized. Bottom line is just because we don't have all the answers you can't pass it off as non existent either.
Troodon is one of my favorite dinosaurs, how cool would it be to have a creepy Alien-ish scene in one of the movies where they find someone paralyzed but still alive that the Troodon have layed eggs inside! That was easily one of the best scenes in the 2011 game and I think it would be even better on the big screen
Ever since seeing the videos of it in "Jurassic Park: The Game", it has become my favorite dinosaur in the franchise (aside from T-rex). I would love to see it in the movie and in the same color patterns as it showed up in the game.
Finally :D Thank you so much Klayton for making a video on my favorite dinosaur in the franchise :D Funny story actually I also Personified one of those telltales Troodons and Named him Terry :P
The JP:TG Troodon is becoming one of my favorite carnivores. I never actually played the game but simply seeing the eyeshines in the jungles of Isla Nublar haunt me.... I would love for this dromaeosaurid to appear in Jurassic World 3 or a future installment.
JP:The Game is my favorite of the Jurassic games :)))) I love the kind of aftermath atmosphere it’s set in- makes the characters feel that much more vulnerable after everyone has already left the island
Love Troodon and their depiction in the Telltale game. Truly scary. If there is ever a Jurassic survival-horror game, this would be an excellent enemy to fear after the sun goes down.
OMG... all these years I had no idea that the dinos in the Game Gear game that jumped out at you from those opening doors were Troodon, I thought they were raptors :P And I still have 'Nam flashbacks about those dark tunnels, glowing eyes and D-Caf...
I’ve always wanted the Troodon to be featured in a film since the JP telltale game, and it’d be a nice way to introduce the dinosaur in the next film as something Dr Wu perfected since his story arc is presumed concluded in the next film.
cant help but think how much of a pain in the rump those things were in the beginning of my playing ark...we even called it the 'knock-you-out-asaurus'
I’d say my favorite one was in Jurassic park the game just cause in the whole game all you see are those eyes and you don’t know what dinosaur it is til (forget the names) til the big ingen guy dies from saving the others with the raptors then they find the pilot so far away and there’s eggs in his body and he’s still alive then you finally see those creepy eyes as they chase you through the tunnels (that was a good series you had in the beginning of 2018)
OMG thank you for doing this dinosaur of the Troodon I thank you so much I was going to ask you for doing how the dinosaur appears in the Jurassic Park the game thank you so much
I’m pretty sure everyone can agree that the troodon is Frontier’s way of putting a compy into their game. They even sound like compys, with all of their little squeaking noises.
Yes when i saw this video i clicked right away even tho i had 20 min left in shane dawsons new conspiracy vid, trodons are one of my fav dinos but there scary as hell also i like the new intro
A cool thing about Troodon in Evolution is that it's the homage/replacement for the Compsognathus, which is too small to be usable in the game. It even uses the Compy's vocalizations from the films and a lot of its animations and mannerisms.
I think the troodon is a great dinosaur that’s very creepy with its bite making the victim basically lose their mind. Also the alien like quality of laying their eggs in human beings. It’s just really underrated dinosaur. Heart? Or pin?
Oh wow. I never knew it had such history. I only ever seen it for Jurassic Park The Game, were I first seen them, and then Jurassic World Evolution and ARK Survival Evolved.
I didn't know about the troodon until I watched your game play video of JP the game. I like to think of troodons as smaller raptors with venomous bites.
JPTG had the best depiction of Troodon, it seems more like it fits in better in Michael Crichton JP novel. It would be a terrible waste not to let it appear in the new movie. If it does, I rather it keep it JPTG design, I’m not a fan of the new design of JW Evolution’s version, it looks too generic, and just looks like an oversized Compsognathus.
Troodon is a menace in Lost World for Sega. At one point you have to tranquilize and protect trikes. These things swarm fast and furious and you have to kill them lol.
The Telltale version is very intriguing. I'd like to see them appear in the third film or beyond, but in a manner that echoes that terrifying aspect it was introduced in in the telltale game. Picture them being the form we see in Evolution, but then the Telltale form hidden in recessive genes, making the more horrifying form the result of genetic abnormalities. That way, they would've been churned out by World, because they seemed stable, but then the super creepy version manifests later
Given how much they contributed to the survival horror vibe of the 2011 game, I'm a bit surprised they weren't utilised for this in Fallen Kingdom. Adding this obstacle to survival along with the ticking clock of Mt Sibo's eruption would have ramped up the tension, and in the wrong hands who knows what the venom might be used for? Just the idea of these creatures reaching the mainland, since they pretty much had the run of Isla Nublar, or at least the Jurassic Park area, is enough to make you shiver. Their ability to grow their unborn young in their victims is another aspect perfect for horror. In the game someone is dragged away to be a living incubator, taking it into the realms of body horror. The Lockwood mansion is a big house, and that's not including the secret lab and show area. How many unused rooms and dark corners could the Troodon make use of?
As an uncle to toddler age kids, the conductor on the show "Dinosaur Train" is a troodon, and they may have updated them due to the popularity of that.
Okat see i want to see this thing in some form or another, be it freaking Camp Cretaceous (somehow) a movie, or someting. when i saw videos of the telltale game, this sucker FREAKED me out! and i love it!!
Considering how smart they are it would be great to bring them in as a replacement for the raptor. Plus you could have raptor v troodon battle at the end.
I should make it resemble that for my version of pectinodon

Troodon being the first dinosaur discovered in the USA, it would be an awesome addition even just for one scene in either the final movie or in any other movies released as like side films
I showed a picture of the Troodon from Jurassic Park: The Game to Nika Futterman(the voice actress of Nima from the Jurassic Park game) on Twitter(Yes, I have a Twitter Account) and she said she loved them.
Personally, for the next movie, I'd love to see a pack of Troodons and a pack of Compys face off like two tiny armies charging at each other in battle.
I think the poison of the troops on in the games might be similar to how a Komodo dragon bites it’s prey and waits until it’s poisonous saliva brings down the animal before it eats it
I really do like the jurassic park the game and jurassic world evolution troodon desings but the jw evolution desing is my favourite this is one of my favourite non-canon creature from jurassic park
Am curious why Troodon was cut from InGen's List? Dilophosaurus was poisonous, too.. and I doubt InGen saw Troodons making nests in humans prior to the Park's collapse..
