The number of talented people required to produce a film of this size and quality is mind boggling.

RikkyCZ The thing that makes The Hobbit so special as a piece of literature, especially for my generation, is its' originality. No, Tolkien didn't create dwarfs, elves or goblins. He didn't create the idea of a group of people going on a grand quest. And he wasn't the first to write a story with the theme of good versus evil. What was a first is that never before had someone with such literary talents writen a story in this genre. If The Hobbit doesn't live up to your expectations after seeing LOTR it is perhaps because you've already seen LOTR.

Something you might not know: JRR Tolkien belonged to a literary club when he was a professor at University. As a member of the club he would read passages of the story he was working on. The other writers in the club, which included C.S. Lewis who would later go on to write the Narnia series, thought that he was wasting his talents writing what they thought of as a childrens book.

Damn it I hate watching videos about the end of shooting because it gets me really upset and I feel like crying a massive waterfall and then I feel so jealous of the cast and crew cause being part of a movie like this seems like only a once in a lifetime opportunity and I'm just feeling so depressed and FEELS

One of the things that makes LOTR and The Hobbit films so incredible is that everybody is so willing and inspired to work at full capacity and also Peter never forgets to share these amazing moments with the fans. This is beautiful, brilliant. Thank you so much!

After watching the video of Jackson saying how exhausting this shoot was, and how he basically "winged it", that hug between him and Sir Ian McKellen feels so powerfull.

It took such a toll on him that he was hospitalized for a perforated stomach ulcer during the shooting. And he kept working on his hospital bed, barely taking a moment of break. That's beyond dedication.

Got tears in my eyes when they finished the filming and everybody hugs. Must be a very hard but also very lovely atmosphere to work in. Like a huge family.

Thank you Peter Jackson for making the books that helped me through my childhood into films that will be remembered by generations to come. You brought to life which my imagination could not. If this upcoming generations or the generations to come put aside the written the word may they at least remember the cinematic feat you accomplished. Lord of the Rings was a journey for me. I'm glad to be coming back this winter. J.R.R. Tolkien would be proud...everyone knows he would be.

In this trilogy and the LOTR I love how grateful the cast are and how much they genuinely enjoy each other and the work they’re doing and have so much fun together even when they’re not filming. That’s what makes these films so great.

This gives me a new found love for the Hobbit trilogy. I think we all have our issues with the films. But with the pressure placed on Jackson from the studio, he and this cast&crew did well. A lot of sacrifice, hard work, sweat and tears went into making Middle Earth come to life.

As of 8/20/2012, a little under 4 months until 12/14/2012. It's almost here. I read the Hobbit for the first time in my 9th grade English class in 1976-77 and was hooked. Don't know how old Bilbo is going to be presented as in the movie but in the book he is 50 years old. I'm turning 50 this Saturday so this will be real special for me.

there's such a huge difference from going into a theater and watching a movie and only judging it from what you saw from just those short hours compared to spending over a year waiting for updates and pictures and actually getting videos that show how so many people worked on every detail that you just take for granted on that screen, knowing that this movie might not reach everyone or be that big but still doing your best work on it. It makes me want to take my time to enjoy it properly.
