Yup, I sold my Evo FQ-330 to get my first S2000, which was the right decision. I then sold that S2000 and got a 911 (996 as that was the current gen at that time), but I really regretted that sale so a few years back bought another S2000 from my friend (single owner car over 15 years and she drove it like Miss Daisy!). Was just about to sell it and get a Boxter Spyder (a truly epic car in its own right), then decided I'd only regret this again so turned down the Spyder and am keeping my humble S2000 until I die. The only thing I am doing is putting a Milltek exhaust on there as the original is looking a bit worse for wear after 17 years, and I do want something a little more raspy, but not intrusive.
I've owned my S2000 for 15 years, which is slightly less time than I've been with my girlfriend. If i had to get rid of one of them, it wouldn't be the S2000.
Great review of the legendary S2K and really appreciated the touches of humor. You are right in that it will bring a smile to your face. I've owned my AP1 S2K for 12 years now and it still brings a huge smile to my face when I hit the redline at 9000 rpm. It's an amazing car.
The s2000 is the worst because it ruins the experience of other cars. The transmission feels like a precision rifle and is loud and revy. Best roadster ever!
I immediately got triggered as soon as i saw the title of the video, but honestly i somewhat agree with some of the things you've pointed at. 8:05 that grin when you accelerate is what the S2000 is all about.
I’ve owned my 2004 Silverstone S2000 (with OEM hardtop) since July 2012 and absolutely LOVE it! Currently with 98k on the ODO. My actual daily driver is a 2013 Camaro. And yes, the S2000 is my Garage Queen!
The S2000 AP1 is the best little sports car I have ever owned. The suspension is outstanding, the engine has double the horsepower of the typical small sports car from the 1950's all the way to 2023. It is very balanced. It drives like a go-cart. The AP1 looks like a classic sports car, while the AP2 looks more modern and plastic
I share the same sentiments as you. The E85 first generation Z4, to my utter surprise, felt better then the S2K in most aspects of performance, comfort and maintenance. I have driven both in multiple occasions and yes, I agree with your review. Honest review.
I love that Honda made the effort to offer such a focused sports car in roadster form at the turn of the century - a car that was pretty basic in terms of creature comforts with an emphasis on maximizing driver involvement. While I enjoy what the S2000 has to offer, I recognize that this car is not for everyone. Working the manual gearbox while exploring the upper end of the RPM range on twisty backroads is exhilarating for some yet exhausting for others. Thankfully Honda saw to the needs of the first group as there was no shortage of other cars for the later group. It doesn't get much more visceral than driving a Honda S2000 with the top down.
Love this review! Yes, it's an absolutely terrible car but it just might be the greatest car ever made. All I know is that I'm never parting with mine because every time I drive it I giggle like a little girl. It's glorious.
IF YOU'RE CHANGING GEARS IN THE S2000 AT 6K RPM, you're not NEARLY reaching it's potential (against a Lexus SUV) - of course you're getting owned because you don't know what you're doing. The fun of the S2000 is @6,000 rmp+ AND you've got no clue. Owning one is different. My son is 6'4" and fits fine. I've had the '04 S2000 since '07 and put 85,000 miles on it - it's bulletproof and a BLAST to dive, if you can find your way above 6,000 RPM!
The s2000 is mega and I absolutely love it! Revving it to 9000rpm is one of life’s pleasures, it’s so visceral not many other cars can match the feeling; however when you’re not revving it all the way out, it’s not fast.. that’s all I was showing.. I could have been clearer in how I explained it. The reward of going all the way to 9000 is epic and the car loves to rev so you find yourself doing it often :)
@@thetuneupAU just please dont do what everyone else does, rate cars based on what it was designed to do instead of comparing it to unrelated generic crossovers companies are spewing out these days, sure it has a boot not as big as a 3 series bmw, however it has a massive boot for a 2 seater convertible sports car therefore it should get a really good score for that, things like that. (im not saying you did any of this in your video im just throwing a suggestion lol)
@@CurtisSmal Completely agree mate! I've actually removed the scoring in my other videos now, so I can just talk about how the car is in the context of it's class. Take a look and let me know what you think :)
@@thetuneupAU absolutely perfect mate, i love the humor you throw in too, specially the gr corolla review, sitting there straight faced while a child seat goes flying around in the back is hilarious to me, youve definitely earned a sub from me.
Those awfull red cars so cliché so too low so soo red and that awfull conformist wanna be low blue car..the owners loose hair..disgusting😂😂😂 not. The S2000 is still on my list to have. It's beautiful ❤ Love this review.
How do you mean? Keep in mind, in Australia the AP2 kept the 9000rpm 2.0l engine, but got the rest of the upgrades like strengthened gearbox, diff, suspension geometry changes etc
Great question! If you want that raw driving experience, but from something modern than the type r is actually a good competitor for a similar price point; however, and it’s a big however, it has a roof! The new FK8 and FL5 CTR are hugely capable cars from factory and I adore them; I need to do a review; but they are the best cars for sale for reasonable money
it is terrible of you to be in such height. you will find many terrible cars due to your lengths. you should take a bus. and refrain from driving as all cars will be terrible for you.
Surprisingly the size of car usually doesn’t correlate to drivers room. Bus’s are no better! The best car I fit in was a KTM X-bow, which is TINY, but had an adjustable pedal box
Thanks for your comment. I was trying to capture in that by making such a focussed sports car that is INCREDIBLELY fun to drive, it’s compromised as a normal car. Not a bad thing, just a series of engineering trade offs. Depends what you’re after, but I absolutely love the S2000
