Well done 44 years ago I heard this song and never are bored, but my friends maybe were, I played every day as a teenager. I have 2 LPs and 7 singles all I got, listening on radio Luxemburg for news(no MTV)those days, thanks.
at the end of the day these guys are all professional musicians and have been for many years wether solo or part of the honeycombs and other bands they work extremely hard and deserve a lot more than nasty comments...the original member martin murray wanted to get the band together again hence the line up above..so cut them a little slack they deserve it !!!!
Are people in Britain going back to their heyday in the mid 60's? I went through a 1955-64 music thing. There is something in nostalgia. Are beehive hairdos, and boots for ladies , coming back too?

time takes its toll on everyone, but without the original drummer, it's not the same. Same goes with Los Bravos' "Black is Black". Progressions original drummers used aren't there which were part of the mystique of the songs.
@lpbgtr Yep I noticed that too. Have known the song for years of course but used to think it more "beat" than my beloved British rocknroll such as the Shads/Rapiers who also use Burns. But while looking at JoeMeek stuff today saw this and other 60s clips of Honeycombes, I'm impressed, they were good musos particularly the guitar work (always Burns !!), all with the heavy Meek (from near me in Gloster!) sound. Great !
You mean the guitarist with glasses? Lots of Brit bands had guys like that. The band that did "Do the Freddy" and Herman hermits doing : George Formby songs comes to mind.
The Tempo's way out, It's like they're all racing to get to the end and sorry but without Honey it's just not the Honeycombs, there's a saying that 'Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery' but sadly not in this case. Ray
The original band split up in in 1966 aftyer having achieved one number 1 hit and a string of flop follow ups. The only original band member here is the guitarist on the far left. All i can say about this performance is that if this was how the original band performed live no wonder they only had one hit.
Without Honey Lantree or Dennis D'ell it's not really the Honeycombs, one original member notwithstanding. Plus the drummer seems in a hurry to get home
@ionixGameOn It SOUNDS a lot like him, but I do not think it is based upon the date of the posting (2008). Denis D'Ell, the original singer, according to all accounts I can find, show that he died of cancer at the age of 61 on July 6, 2005. Still a great song though.

You seem to be familiar with this situation, so do the original Honeycombs get any money from the use of the group's name? I know that's the situation with the Shangri Las. The surviving originals aren't happy about being legally forced to license the name to a group who has nothing to do with them, but at least they get paid for it.
It really is time to retire the name The Honeycombs. Tony Harte, Paul Bonner, and Martin Murray now all have absolute travesties of the band and poor Denny is probably turning in his grave.
I love the song, but I have to be objective here. I was very disappointed with this. It sounded like a typical bar band. The mix was horrible and there was hardly any enthusiasm on the part of the musicians, the drummer kept rushing the choruses, and I don't know why the gal got up onstage when she did. All she did was clap. Well I'm sorry, but that's my honest opinion.
