My league ref called travel on the hop catch, I blew up on him and couldn't stand that he called this a travel. A good hop step gives the appearance of a travel by lifting ones feet microseconds before the ball hits your hands, this is not a travel..However...many guys in the NBA clearly hop after the ball hits their hands on the pass yet this is never ever called...but thank you league ref at my college for calling this 5-7 times each game...

Use split step to drive and you never have to use the 1-2

Both the 1-2 and split footwork are great and work in different situations. Best to have both of them in your bag.

how is a split step to drive associated with using a 1-2 or a hop to shoot? on the catch on off the dribble, that just makes no sense. also and split catch you can argue is a part of the hop
