in December 1972, the eyes of the world were on Yellowknife. More than a month after his mercy flight had disappeared into the barrens of the Canadian Arctic, pilot Marten Hartwell had been found alive.
Martin Hartwell flew myself and another Canadian Fisheries worker out of a camp near Cambridge Bay in the summer of 1973. At the time I did not know the story of his ordeal of the previous year. He flew us out of a bad situation and the takeoff was a near miss, as one of the floats on the aircraft was half full of water. We barely cleared a copse of trees during takeoff. He looked back at us with huge relief when the takeoff was successful.
this is a fascinating story!!! im looking for the planecrash reports, any body has a copy of the report? ive read the book too, wich's a good one too!! RIP to the victims and Marten! a BIG TX for the video my friend!! :D
