everyone seems to have this misconception on here alcoholics are always hammered and can just stop drinking if they really tried. most are barely buzzed, they keep just enough in their system to “stay well”. if they don’t have a certain amount in their system the go into withdrawal which can lead to seizures and death. they’rs also functioning vs non functioning alcoholic. the functioning one takes a few $1 shots at work to get through the day without injury then drinks what he can afford at night (if he even still does drink like that, alot just “coast” on the bare min to prevent w/d), where as the non-functional ones are usually homeless etc and get shit faced whenever they can afford it and can’t make it through work etc, even if they have a place to sleep. The withdrawal is worse than almost any drug but benzos as it can kill you, and u usually beed a Dr’s help w some medical assistance to stop. i know this wasn’t a direct reply to your comment but I figured more people would see it and be aware if i posted it here.

I never drank alcohol in my youth years, not even beer, but when I was 29 I went on a trip and spent a whole week drinking rum, absolutely drunk from the morning 'til passing out at late night, best time of my life tbh, 10/10 would do it again.

When they run out of Grey Goose late at night, they fill the bottle with Smirnoff. I've been a barback and personally followed that order from the tender.

Most hard spirits aren't SUPPOSED to be drank straight or with 0 pairing. Wine, Mead, Beer, Cider? Sure. But even straight whiskey or scotch is usually served with ice or something to dilute it. Also I can't help but guess that al of these are room temp, which is even worse.

I can drink jack, jim beam, and scotch straight with ice, sip some spiced rum (though spiced Bacardi specifically is terrible) and tequila shots are good, but the rest... OOF.
