Facebook Boomers: Confused and Scared 

Every person I know who’s over the age of 35 do the copy paste shit all the time especially the ones where they claim that Facebook is gonna charge them $40 for some reason even though it’s not true. I also see a ton of political copy pastas that are more right leaning and conservative. A guy I used to go to youth group with constantly shared dumb conservative memes about America going back to God and how the LGBT is grooming kids. He did it to the point I unfriended him on FB. I also see a bunch of people that I know that constantly share religious stuff which is mostly benign and harmless. My great grandma on my dad’s side constantly shared posts of guys who shared in the Vietnam War.

i still remember when that one shitty russian copypasta made a news in my country for weeks and caused a whole outrage among parents and in schools (blue whale)

The weird thing about Facebook is that it’s the only platform that historically discouraged anonymity. Alot of folks on there (regardless of age) have their entire bio/identity exposed to the public eye, and they still say whacky/aggressive/inappropriate shit with no hesitation, as if they were anonymous. I'm 32 and honestly hate that it isn't used like before. There's really no reason for people to have stopped. And I didn't even like Facebook. I still remember how much better MySpace was anyway.

It's so dumb when people think Facebook isn't popular anymore...EVERYONE still uses it

@@itsianman everyone thinks only old people use it when in reality a good chunk of the world, both young and old are still on the platform everyone's just used on using social media that isn't surfaced level

I get it - But I despise the fact that Facebook Marketplace won't even let you scroll through listings without an "approved" account. Like, you have to actively use the account for an undetermined amount of time before they'll even let you message or fully scroll through items. You can't just create an account and go on there, you'll get a vague message telling you to "wait for a bit" before you're allowed full access to Marketplace. Some people say it's about a month or even longer of continued use (and by adding your full name). Again, I totally get it. Because I'm sure the amount of bots and scammers on Facebook trying to take advantage of wealthy boomers are bountiful. But, it also gets in the way of me looking for cheap dining tables which makes me sad. And usually, all the best stuff gets posted there specifically because Boomers are the only ones who can actually afford the good shit. I have to use my fiance's account because I refuse to make another legit Facebook account of my own.
