I'm not even from the UK, I'm an Army Veteran, and I want to yell at these rude people so badly. These horses are NOT pets, they're part of the Queen's guard, equal to a K-9 cop here in America. They're essentially petting a soldier on duty. Their human guard partners have the patience of a saint to not tell them to piss off. On top of that, every time someone come up and touches the horses, they're distracting the guard from his job, having to make sure they don't grab the horse's reins or bridle.
I've said the same thing. But without the military classification specifics. I have stated that these are NOT pets, they are the equivalent of a soldier. They are highly trained warhorses. Just like a K- 9 Unit is considered an officer. Would they walk up to a police dog & try to engage it in a game of fetch? Probably not, but with these crowds, who knows? I don't know why, this is just not common sense.
@@carolinecouch4361 these videos make me cringe and feel claustohobic. It exactly like ripping a K-9 Unit's leash out of an officer's hand & then start trying to yank the dog around. I think the dog would bite first though, in protection of it's handler.
OMG! YOU are a genius! I love the idea, except I would need someone to post daily scores on line! LOL LOL I get so fed up with seeing stupidity, this horse is a great teacher and I am sure when a soldier finds out he or she pulled Arnie for their hour of duty, they must get gleeful and giddy with anticipation. Take bets on how many dumb grown ups get bitten that day, too. LOL
@roseyannette2030 I'm pretty sure that each soldier has their own mount assigned to them when they first arrive. That mount is then their sole responsibility and partner.
Why these tourists can't see that the horse does not want their company, is beyond me!! Tourists don't seem to accept that these horses are not their photo props.
I would be, if I were them. They know which horses are "biters" and are probably so happy when they get one of them for their hour of duty. Darwin's laws at their best.
Arnie is a gentleman, he doesn't attempt to bite kiddies, he knows they have stupid parents, letting them get in harms way, bless you Arnie and your guard ❤
I absolutely love this video. My favorite starts around 9:45 with a little girl who has her hand IN the horse's mouth while the horse gently nibbles on it! Next woman is bitten within TWO or THREE SECONDS of moving close. Horse knew the difference! Most animals seem to have a 6th sense, ESP, or something about people. I found out decades ago if I thought something like "Come here" while looking at a dolphin or fish, they would swim over to me. Tested it at aquariums in Chicago, New Orleans, and Tampa. Probably 90% visited me. Zoo animals didn't, only swimmers. LOL Check out 'animals interacting with humans at zoos and aquariums' or some such for many fun videos.
Most of the tourists are just completely unaware of just how dangerous a horse can be. They think the guard riding it can stop it from doing serious damage, but that would not be the case if the horse really wanted to harm someone. Fortunately, most of the horses are extremely good natured on most days.
They behave like juveniles and know better than to touch any unknown animal. I think they enjoy the “ drama” and it makes a more interesting photograph.
@@elizabethsellors9046 You hit that nail on the head! It kills me, people teach their kids, "don't touch" and yet who are the worst at the "I gotta touch the horsie"?
People don't realize how strong horses are. Years ago, my niece was petting one of my horses. She's a good kid and the horse likes her. When the horse turned her head casually, my niece went flyi ng. The horse wasn't annoyed. She simply turned her head. My niece gained a new appreciation of their strength but wasn't upset.
‘ get away from me, I’m sick of you silly tourists, if my ears are back and if you’ve seen me give a bite warning, that means I’ll try to bite you too’. 😂 I love Arne, he’s a real character.
This has to be one of my favourite videos. Pity tourists choose to ignore thee warning sigs and put their children, and themselves in danger. Arnie is certainly a no nonsense horse, love him. The guards must have so many great stories to tell after their shifts. ❤😂
Oh, I can't tell you how much I enjoyed that . . . Multiple nippings and nudgings. I love the way he calmly allowed the little girl to pet him and then bit the next adult that came along.
@@murielvaillancourt3855well you can blame the carelessness of the child’s parents for that! The signs are there for a reason and horses have a mind of there own…she learned the hard way a horse is not a pet…
He tends to let very little children near to him and he likes them, even nuzzling them at times. Everyone else no matter what size or age all he asked is! you stay out of his face and space,
Horses are so intelligent! Also loved the people where he nibbled the lady a couple of times, She tells the horse to quit and the camara man reacts "its your hair, I told you it looks like straw".
I really like when the fellow in the puffy coat was under the huge BEWARE sign and the horse bites his jacket and won't let go. Then he gets upset. These horses have to put up with a lot.
I love how they stand under the sign and Arnie goes right ahead with his best work and they stay put while he has another go. I guess we just need to remove all warning signs and let nature (Arnie) take care of the rest
@@marionjones7378 Trouble is that there aren't many respectful people who go to changing the guard at Horseguards parade or @ Windsor castle. Something has to change it's not right our military, culture and traditions be treated as a joke and being laughed at. If anyone disrespect the military in there country you would be dragged away never to be seen again unless shooting by firing squad. Or hung on a crane Life in prison. No trail or questions asked just life in prison or death I am not saying Great Britain take that sort of behaviour but. Police with more powers to arrest and charge with disorderly behaviour or some kind of reason to remove them . Our military & horses ,guards are highly trained soldiers why should they put up with ABUSE from ignorant disrespectful rude obnoxious people with absolutely no manners or respect. Come on top brass and officers discussion time to make big changes so the horses and guards plus the soldiers are kept safe. Only 4 armed police I have seen in hundreds of these videos. More need to be done on all levels to keep these men and women+ horses safe. This chaotic behaviour is an absolute accident waiting to happen. I have even seen idiot people walking through the centry box with horse and guard in it. That kind of thing beggers believe but I have seen it done. On quite a few videos. 😡😡😡
Nor did they watch the last 3 people before them, get bitten, because people only pay attention to themselves. Horses are large powerful animals, if people are not smart enough to figure that out, with or without a sign, they deserve to get bitten!
I love the horses that bite and the soldiers that YELL! Watching this made me feel so good! This is NOT a petting zoo. People need to get a clue. I am not normally maniacal, however, when people are stupid, sometimes they get taught in the most perfect way. IF the peeps paid attention to someone besides themselves they would see those before them get bitten, they would not stand so close or try to "touch the horsie"!
@@mariongriffiths1066 😂😂😂 probably true. He such a character 🥰. I saw him with a few other horses in a parade kind of thing and they said he has new duties. Darn it!!
Most horses won't hurt children but a grown person? They love paybacks and these horses in a way are tormented by these tourists and bitting is payback of stay away and get your hands off me. I love it.
You’ve got to love Arnie. He’s read the sign - he knows it says he can bite if he wants to. And very often he does want to - but he’s very selective. He tolerates the little ones stroking and petting him - he just bites their parents for letting them. I watched one video where a tourist got too close and Arnie casually stomped his hoof onto his foot then looked the other way as if he’d no idea why he was yelling. That was one occasion where the guard couldn’t resist a grin. Hope he’s feeling better cos in a recent video he started weaving to let his rider know there was something wrong and he picked up the message straight away and took him straight back to the stables. I know those horses get the very best of care so I hope Arnie has fully recovered.
Omg Arnie read the sign he can bite and kick made me laugh he's thought a few lessons in trouist treatment Nip Bite Nudge Headbutt and Stomp. Maybe some reading lessons to let the other horses know they can do the same. The brilliant Ormonde learnt very well from Arnie😂.
No one can blame the horses who wants to be constantly petted especially by rude ridiculous strangers. Just don't touch them. Read the signs. Great job by the Guards.
I've had days like that - wanting to bite annoying people - but only in my head - wishing I was Arnie, the horse. He didn't bite the little kids. That says it all.
If i was sat on arnie i wouldn't be able to control my laughter.. obviously some of them cant read ..that horse is a complete star..he knows thats the way to do it..he needs to give the other horses lessons ..
First of all, let me say that as an American I don’t always understand what the guards jobs are and what they do. Second of all as someone from a military background I can see that their service is vitally important to protecting the previous queen and now the king and all of those in the palace. I appreciate the guards as they work and the incredible training that must happen for those horses to be in service. I don’t believe the people that come to visit realize what is actually happening. It seems that people just don’t really get what’s going on with these guards and their roles as military men and women. God bless, all of the men and women across the world in military service
And rarely do you see visitors taking note their surrounds. The buildings and the clock have so much important and interesting history and across the road is where poor old King Charles I was put to rest. They have a photo with the horse…that’s another site ticked off the to do list!
Horse guards has been the official gateway to St James Palace & Buckingham Palace since the 18th century, the soldiers & horses are there historically as “gate guards” They are also a big tourist attraction as are the Guards at many of the Royal residence’s - Windsor, Buckingham etc.
Purely a tourist attraction? Seriously? I think you need to do a bit of research. Goodness me, what an absolute insult to these serving men and women of His Majesty's forces.
If they had brains they'd be dangerous ! Watch the horse biting then go stand in the same place !?!? One day there will be a headline " tourist badly bitten by horse in hospital " . They dare to glare at the guard like it's his/her fault . I give up on the human race .
I love it when horses are over the bs from the tourists and literally give them a bite to say keep your bloody distance. They are given a warning on the sign so I don't feel sorry for anyone who gets a bite taken out of them, it's a pity it doesn't happen more often. 😂
I just love these horses; there's never any doubt as to how they feel about you! The amount of stupidity shown in this video is hard to believe. So many continued to stand there after he nipped or pushed them away. What fascinates me is how he picks and chooses those he likes, as well, and let's them know it's okay to touch him. It makes me wonder what kind of perception horses have, and what they are able to sense through smell.
It’s the Guards’ duty to protect their horses and the stupid tourists. Bu they only play statue and one of them, the lady guard, let the little girl be bitten and stays stiff when she saw the girl crying. What a bad exemple! They can explain the risks and order people to retract. If they received orders to let tourists touch their horses, so their boss are very stupid. They are waiting for a tragedy to change the rules.
@murielvaillincourt38 how dare you blame the Guard! He is doing his job and a bloody good job at that. Its STUPID PARENTS for letting the girl pet then stand that close to a horse where there is a BIG enough sign that states 'Beware horses might kick or bite' only thing you said which was correct is stupid tourists!!
@@murielvaillancourt3855what didn’t you understand in the signs preventing the public of the danger that might occur by approaching, touching and petting the horses?! The sign is there for a very good reason and if the people are too dense to understand the very deep message in it, it’s their problem… not the guard’s and certainly not the horse’s, their’s. Anyway, tourists shouldn’t touch the horses. If they do it’s at their own risk (the signs are there for a reason) and the little girl, who has been bitten, can blame the stupidity and carelessness of her parents for what happened, NOT THE GUARD!
Read the sign, it's a warning . I have passed by the Horseguards so many times ( UK citizen) for work reasons . Never have attempted to pat the horses . They are not a Disney attraction , their riders are members of the British army , fully trained and weaponed up and are protecting Royalty . I have no wish to be snarky . Best regards to you
Love how the guard is so trying not to laugh. Love it they all are trying to not laugh. Why should the horse not fight back, they put up with a lot and no respect. Yea For the guards and the beautiful horses.
These fools who continue to get too close deserve a bit of a scare. Obviously know very little about horses. When the ears go flat....look out! Good for you, Arnie!
When a horse's ears are laid back on its head, that's a warning sign. It means "leave me alone....or else!". I know this from the horses I've been around for years.🐴
Horses are very sensitive animals and feel vibrations and aggressive aura/smell. Sure sign: ears back possibly a bite, raised tail possibility of a kick. Give it the opportunity to sense you from a distance.👍
2:08 this is what we mean when we talk about a horse pinning his ears back. People often confuse a horse who has his ears POINTED to the back with PINNED ears. In the first case, a horse is attentive to the sounds behind him. Usually when they are dozing of a bit. Theirs eyes will keep track of what happens around them, and the ears will cover their blind spot...behind them. But when a horse pins his ears back, they lay way more flat on its head and neck. After that will come a bite or kick. And believe me, the bites in the video are still even considered 'nips' or warning bites in a horses vocabulary. 'I told you to back of' And if that last warning is ignored, a horse will attack.
