The problem is the pavement (sidewalk) is controlled by Westminster Council. The jurisdiction of the Ministry of Defence exists only within the gates. So you can't stop people congregating on the pavement; it's a public right of way. But I think a sharp poke with the pointy end might discourage people from holding onto the reins.
The Guard should be given a water pistol, a squirt at the rein offender should let them know to back off but I like the thought of the pointy end giving them a jab.
Why do people have to touch the horse at all? The reins, its nose is mega sensitive. But they just have to touch it or rub it!!! I find this so annoying.
WHY did the Guard ALLOW that man to hold the horse like that ????? WELL??? BOSSES; you have to give the Guards some leeway here. You have ignorant people manhandljng the horses, taking liberties hanging onto reins and bridles..and you are OK with this ????? The Guards have been reduced to being a bit- part in a tourist pet-a-pony. You stopped them shouting at people who take liberties..look at this video and you think all this OK????
The situation is definitely getting worse. Far too many people crowding round. They are out of control. Can someone please take charge. The guards really need to get their voice back.
I am not British and do not live in London but this definitely out of control. It’s a petting zoo and Disneyland where people taking photos of themselves with Mickey Mouse.Disgusting.
This is truly dreadful behaviour by tourists they have to show some these videos to whoever is in charge to let them see what the holes and guards have to put up with, one of these days someone is going to really hurt one of the horses, then it will be too late!!
What a selfish and stupid man. Taking the place in front of the father and his child, taking the reins to make sure the horse will stay where he wanted…. I wouldn’t leave him alone whatever animal. He won’t respect it.
The horse was giving them a taste of their own medicine by touching them without asking. What a lovely horse, obviously taught by the master Arnie. His next lesson will be going in for the coat, scarf, bag and an a well aimed gentle nip, and then he can graduate.
My daughter and 8 year old grandson are on their way home today after being down in London from Scotland for the weekend and had tickets for the Buckingham Palace tour which she said was excellent. They did some of the usual tourist things including the open top tour bus which passes by Horse Guards. My daughter said they had a very good view of the guards and horses and had no wish to join the teeming hordes on the pavement. Glad to know the common sense gene is still evident in my family.
@@patriciapirozzi9957 You could plaster the walls with pictures and/or words in every possible language and it still wouldn't make any difference to the people who believe the rules don't apply to them. Manners, respect and good old fashioned common sense is almost extinct.
Even as one who does not know much about horses, if the animal repeatedly notches one away, I consider it a message to keep a distance. Even if it allows it to someone else before and yes the person in the saddle decides at all times. Nobody is allowed to pose like cowbody. Adorable how some horses are so lenient with children, if only stupid adults would not push the kids next to the horse as near as possible, even if the little ones clearly don’t want to! I hate it so much how many people pawing the horses face. And for all tourists who do not seem to understand English, it might be necessary to print pictograms.
They think the animal will act like a doggie. You have to be mindful every second. Just their sheer size means they can inflict great injury. Mine have broken skin or stomped my foot and never mean to. It's their size. And it's my fault for not being mindful.
@@rwl51probably😫 But on the other side, im german spoken and my English is really poor, but what "reins" means is like ABC and I think they just don't read it, they simply don't care if there's a sign to not to do anything, it's not their responsibility and it's vacatioooon...
WOW Buska what a day for the entitled rein grabbers, was it a group of "We are entitled idiots" That man oh boy not only was that guy a total disrespectful idiot, he walked right up in front of the father and son taking control of the horses head. How bloody rude and obnoxious. Oh boy my blood pressure would have been epic if I was there. Ty mate as always love your videos well done, they are now famous for all the stupid reasons they deserve. Keep Safe Keep Strong 🦘🦘🦘🦘💖💖💖💖
Animals aren’t unpredictable. I’m Aussie, rule of thumb is that if you don’t know anything about a particular animal (like how to read their behaviour), leave them alone. Animals speak with their body and many fools don’t think before going up to an animal
I had better idea. If its possible to make them that way, where doesn't shock horse or guard. Electrify part of the reins. Not close to mouth are, but general area where they grab for the most. Wouldn't even have to go full reins length. Then have small button in part guard holds, that he can press to zap these idiots. I was thinking have extra shorter leather piece set up like that on both sides. I grew up on an 80 acre farm, mostly fruit and vegetable, but we had pigs, a milk cow and steer, and a pony and a horse. The electric fence was more for the steer and pigs. Cows are pretty docile usually anyways, ponies and horses, same. But pigs and steers, well, mind of their own. And pigs can be very stubborn. We also had chickens, ducks, geese, and pigeons. The pigeons had a coop on top of one of the other buildings. Chickens, ducks and geese, usually just went in the barn at night, and bad weather in winter. We had 2 ponds further back, mainly for irrigation, but spring and summer, the geese were put back there on them. They were also natural weed control for the vegetables and ground fruit like strawberries. We got out of the habit of putting them back there, as one year they ended up all getting killed by feral dogs. Not all at once, took 2-3 times. We tried keeping them by the barn, but they would stay put. Last chickens and ducks we had. Batman chickens, which are small breed. We had 30 of them, don't remember how many ducks. Anyways, one early spring, feral dogs got in the barn and killed all but one chicken. Think they may have got a duck. The 7 geese we had, they all survived. Thinking they was outside somewhere at the time. Plus not too many animals going to mess with a big goose. My mother had to shoot 2 of the feral dogs, as they were going to attack when she went to see what ,was going on. We had 2 outside, and 1 inside DOS that were going crazy at the time barking. So, what I'm getting at mostly, if we went to another country, we would be expected to follow their rules and laws, so they should as well. Not expect special treatment because their diplomats. Sorry for the long story.
People stand very close to large animal. Said animal then moves his head to towards people. People try to push large animal away. Please can someone tell these human eejits to just stay away 🤦♀️
@cploeg3 not necessarily. He could be mouthy. I would expect alot of head throwing if there was a problem with the bit. Could possibly have tongue over bit, hard to know.
Some of these people don’t deserve to see these Beautiful Horses and Guards..lucky that’s the cheeky horse and can fend off most of them..around five times they hauled at this horses reigns..no manners at all.
It gave me a warm feeling inside when the guard booted that girl when she wouldn't let go of the reins, even when they feel the tug they hang on regardless.
The horse is so handsome, and the King's guard is very professional, stopping the pulling of the reins without shouting, but who in the world are those strange creatures that keep touching this magnificent animal. If they profess to be humans, they must be joking.
This King's Guard has the patience of Job. These people are rude and deserve to be yelled at full volume. This horse has so much personality, how could you not love him?
Imagine for one moment that you are driving the sight seeing bus around London and some idiot comes up from the passengers and wants their photo with the driver, pulls the steering wheel to make the photo look good.....same thing as pulling on the reins. Can't fix stupid I suppose.
Apparently it doesn’t matter if you put up a sign that says don’t do this or be careful if you do that because no one reads it anyway! Kudos to the guard for not yelling, but I sure wish he would’ve. It might’ve made of more of an impact on these tourists, maybe?
@mayloo2137 Sharply pulling back on the reins is only going to hurt the horses mouth. If they can't yell, the only only sequence of response I can see is, 1. Lift reins to get the horses full attention, bringing his head up. 2. Back horse up into gate. ......and if that fails, push the panic button to inform Gaurd Superior of continuing issue.
@@mariaharrison7228that’s what I keep saying, from one side of the doorway to the other, a deep semicircle… that way if the horse walks out a little further, people can’t use that as an excuse… you can still get a pic…
A better idea would be to remove the horses and soldiers and leave the police in charge. Revenue from tourists isn't worth putting up with the tourists' bad behaviour.
I get exhausted just watching from home for a few minutes. The chatter, chatter and screeching from the crowd is unbearable, poor guards and poor horses.
This horse is so good at shooting people away! He doesn’t want anyone close to him. And that super rude bridle-grabbing guy who just walked in front of the man and little boy in the middle of having their photo taken. Unbelievable! Clearly, he’s convinced that the world revolves around him. Some people just lack awareness. That’s one of them.
They should have marked areas where people can stand for a picture with coordinators to bring them in. They must form a line. It has grown to the point where they need boundaries and a formal process for pictures. Children are out of control. Women are ridiculous the way they approach the horses. I would gladly volunteer.
@@radolfkalis4041 see Jill Davies’ pinned comment below. Markings inside the gate are in MOD territory and only enforced for inspections and other ceremonies, and when horses are walking from the stables to their sentry boxes. The present policy is to allow the public to pat the horses, but if ever there is a decision to discourage sightseers from approaching the mounted guards I believe that marking the limits with painted lines on the Whitehall pavement/sidewalk would be by far the most sensible way to go, not ropes, fences, or wrought iron railings.
When I visited years ago there were not these throngs of people. I have pictures of the horse and guard with no people posing next to them. No one grabbed the reins. It was very different than it is now.
And there's a sign that says "don't touch the reins." I can see where they may just have to rope off an area around the horse and not allow people to approach. They can appreciate the guard, and take their pictures, from a distance.
@_Peremalfait , a roped off area is not possible , it's a public street and if the horse became unsettled and ran forward it would be dangerous for both horse and trooper .
If you could just shout out loudly “ holding the reins” Buska it would be brilliant! But you would lose your voice within half an hour with these tourists of one brain cell each😂
Why are the people in charge at Horseguards allowing this disgraceful behaviour to continue. These are military personnel carrying out their duty and are being constantly harassed and stressed. This wouldn't be allowed in any other country, it's ridiculous !!
It is a shame that these people are so ignorant that they don’t read the sign on the wall. I don’t feel sorry for them if they get bitten that’s your fault and you should never grab the reins of a horse never unless it’s running away. Unbelievable.😮
I think the horse won today !! I wouldn't want everyone touching me everyday. Teasing them like they having something in their hands an they don't. Just take pictures an leave. Thank you from USA ❤
Hi busks in the park just wanted to say thank you for another video .😀 it’s frustrating at times watching people touching the horses constantly and the Raines seems the new go to as well .
Inevitably, the end is near for the Life Guards. Killed by tourism, killed by rein grabbers, killed by insipid idiots. Goodbye, brave soldiers, we love you, we will remember you.
@daphnethurlow5388 . They are on a public street in Whitehall not possible , there are also plenty of videos of horses being unsettled and running forward , if they were behind a gate or any sort of barrier it would be dangerous .
That man in the grey t-shirt who grabbed the reins walked straight in front of the man carrying the little boy who were obviously trying to get a photo! They don't give two 💩 about anyone except themselves 😡 wish the horse had bitten him we live in a me me me society..
How those horses have the patience to stand there hour after hour with people constantly touching them is a testament to their training and temperament however I wish people would just leave them alone.
@@kathellison8084 I do know that but the poor things have to do it day after day. I wish they would paint a wide circle around them with signs saying do not cross the line! People could still have their photo taken next to them just not so close.
THAT IGNORANT MAN WALKED RIGHT IN FRONT OF A FAMILY AND TOOK REINS FOR PICTURE. ABSOLUTELY NO CONTROL OF CROWD. NO PROTECTION FOR HORSE WHO IS CLEARLY UPSET. THIS IS AWFUL
Thank you for this video!! Who did any commentator say, that these tourists’ read that lonely, white on black sign! All these tourists’ think it’s a laugh to have the opportunity to touch those reins, and the the horse, even if like this horse seems to not want people so close. It’s had enough!! I want to go back to my stable!! Is it time yet? As I have mentioned in previous comments, all these tourists’ watch and do what other tourists’ are doing, to even go as close as they can to the horse, even to grab the rein or any part of the bridle parts, thinking they could control the horse’s head movement….Every single one of these tourists’ are getting too close to the horses,’ that one day, someone is going to get injured.
The guard didn't use his voice, which was disappointing, but he sure tapped that dingbat a good one with his boot! Of course she was utterly shocked... * sigh *
As a family we were talking on Saturday about how lawless and rude people all over the world are becoming. Watching these idiots reaching for the reins well THEY ARE IDIOTS. You could put that sign in every language in the world and there would still be idiots who would reach for the reins. On a positive note that horse definitely has a sense of humor.
That rein grabber in the grey the shirt was just so bloody rude, he just barged his way in regardless and took hold of the reins for his own pictures. There was another gentlemen there with a child and he just stood in front of him. So rude!!!!
