This was spooky, tense fun! The sound design was first-rate and, for me, it was the main contributor to building suspense. As CJU said, it'd be great to see a longer (and more interactive) version of this. And, Chris, we really need to do some systematic desensitization exercises--increasingly long runs through darker and darker forests, with and without shadowy figures--that sort of thing. 😂 😂 😂 😂

Splendid sound design and the overall atmosphere was so tense and and eerie, at some point I was close to actually ending the video because I got goosebumps and really felt scared, haha. One of the best short horror experiences out there for sure.

When the runes appeared, I thought about Barrow Hill for a second but that's its own category haha. This was a very decent homage to Blair Witch but the fact it was, originally, a Jam entry was awesome. Great playthrough, Chris!

Whoah oh my GOD. This is honestly better than most of the horror games I've seen recently. The slow build of tension is PERFECT. WOW.

5:33 Go West! Life is peaceful there! That Pacman comment kill me on spot. And the in 8:44 you were so fed up with running you unwillingly started to bring back the memories of original Blair Witch production :) But seriously it was a quite spooky game even if the 3/4 of it, in contrary to the title, contains running through forest like a nutjob. The full version still would be great to watch with this cute monster.

I've always thought the idea of places not letting you leave is pretty terrifying. That's probably why I love movies like the Blair Witch and Grave Encounters.

The cloaked dudes remind me of the priest enemies in Anor Londo in Darksouls 1, i cannot un-see it.

This was leagues better than that Blair Witch/PTSD take that the Layers of Fear devs made 😭😭 games that use sound effectively really do make the game imo, and the simple graphics (nothing fancy and heavily rendered) makes it even creepier too

The first version was closely inspired by Blair Witch, now the 2nd version update has The Void vibes placed in. The atmosphere is much more foreboding and claustrophobic despite being in the forest, you keep hearing crunching noises in the ground as though someone is following you (and they are). The flashlight also malfunctions at times when supernatural stuff happens and it becomes pitch dark while you hear weird noises around you. I hope the developer makes a full version of this game!

This little game here deserves to be associated with The Blair Witch Project, the other game doesn't at all. The sound was brilliant! The creepyness factor didn't really work for me, but that's okay. A much longer game would be amazing, and I hope it'll come. :)

... Proving that the best games rely on the imagination of the player. Wow. That was pretty gd scary, and I did it mostly to myself. Running panting through that forest in the dark, breaking twigs underfoot while the wind howled around you, no idea where to go or how to find/help your screaming friend, with your only tools randomly failing, and mysterious figures _watching_ you... that was "dire straits" in a nutshell and I really felt it. And the house...! Of course, this being Blair Witch- based, I knew that there was no hope as such, but not only did we not find/help Heather, but we were unexpectedly additionally offered as sacrifice to ... something. Eeep! This game did in 15 minutes what the recent BW game failed to do in hours-longer playtime. I would love to see more, but I'm afraid that expansion would ruin this, so I'm willing to say that "I'm good". I'm not sure my heart could take anymore anyway. Thanks so much for sharing, CJU!

This game demonstrates how a horror game should be made. Horror is not about having the fanciest, most beautiful graphics; it's not about complicated and convoluted storylines with flashbacks, mental illness tropes, ridiculous back stories, etc.; it's not about pitch black darkness, shitty light sources, jump scares, blood and gore, etc. No, all horror needs is to create an unsettling vibe. Let the player see enough to make them wonder what was that off to the right, just out of reach of the full light. Let the player spook themself by imaging what is creating all the noises in the background - could it be something malicious coming for you or is it something benign and your just paranoid? Let the player feel somewhat safe and, yet, always in danger to keep them alert. Too many bigger budget or more prominent horror games miss this. I think Song of Horror is pretty much the only game recently at that "bigger budget\more prominent" level that did horror right. Everything else missed the mark completely by trying to show off too much. Anyways, long rant. I'm just tired of being excited for bigger budget games only to be disappointed in execution and storyline. TL;DR This game is great and bigger studios need to understand why this is a great horror game.

I'm pretty sure you can use WineD3D for Windows to run the blair witch games. You shouldn't have any problems capturing, but I don't know your setup. If you are using a capture card, it probably doesn't matter, but if you are using software capture then you probably need to use the non-vulkan builds. I was going to get started on this as well, as they are hilariously terrible games, and difficult to get running and capturing. I wasn't sure how to start though, as technically 'Nocturne' exists in the universe of the Blair Witch games. They are all thoroughly bad, but I wanted to see if I could make them all run and cap. If you have any problems let me know.

This is definitely better than the Blair Witch game. All of the mental illness / hallucination crap in the other game just made it uninteresting, and made it feel too much like Layers of Fear... Would have liked for pure atmospheric horror rather than having it go full psychological horror. Which I feel this game did very well.

This was shorter than the Blair Witch, had a lower budget than the Blair Witch, was spine-tingling scarier than the Blair Witch, was better structured than the Blair Witch, and was honestly a much better Blair Witch. This shall now be henceforth the offical Blair Witch game.
