Was awesome to get to shoot with ya. I agree, the stages were a lot of fun. They were much better on the ground than on paper. My max drive without an overnight stay is about 2.5hrs. But we do go as far as the coats, Pinetucky, etc & make an overnight trip of it. My CLOSEST drive is an hour 20 minutes & that’s not even the match I run. Lol It’s nice to catch up with folks all over & get different match flavors.
Thanks for coming! Believe or not I drove 27hrs one way to Colorado for the 2gun Nats lol but that probably doesn’t count bc I had to drive out there for work anyways😂
My max travel time is typically about 5 hours for a level 1 match. I am now a match director at my local club though now so I tend to stay a little closer to home. I also have 3 kids, another on the way and a small family business so time is precious lol. Thanks for the upload Rob!
I haven’t traveled that far to shoot a match maybe an hour at the max but have been asked to go to pine tucky in the past with some of my other match buddies. Good shooting Pops. You’re always making it look easy & effortless. My buddy shot this same match as you I recognize the stages from his video. Jenkins is his name. Got another buddy who is trying to drag me to the AK match 12/3-12/4 in the Carolinas. Thanks for sharing
Fun stages! I'm glad you still get to some matches. I know your weekend time is limited and family time is important to you. Your form and your hustle are still looking good.
level 1s my number is c.2 hours one way - 2.5 max.. but there are other factors - like who is shooting that I know, and on my squad, and the weather, and the stages, and the total number of shooters.. and are there any good Mexican restaurants near by for the after-party. T4T's at MCRC is always one of the funnest matches of the year - and this year didn't disappoint. 107 shooters over two days with max capacity on Saturday, and a pretty thin showing on Sunday.. It helped that the weather turned out real nice and the fun kids showed up. In years past they had 7 stages, but lost one bay this year... but honestly 6 was enough. I was totally wiped by the last stage today. I tried to talk Linda into letting me make stage 6 40 rounds but she worried it would back up... I know better than argue so we settled quickly on 32. Rowan shoots on the 2nd Saturday, always puts up some serious L2ish stages for their locals and draws the high end talent from the area. T4Ts isn't really supposed to be a Level 2 - its supposed to be fun.. with ALL the fun gimmics from the connex. I suspect if Thom Powers and David Lyell had signed up it would have spiced things up a bit. I heard Bob Bailey was out due to knee pain. No idea what happened to Wally and Bruce. Its the guys I mentioned who help add that extra flavor to a match, and compels others to make the drive.
4-4.5 hours is about my max these days. Occasionally I'll pop up to Belton for the 6 hour trip, but I just don't have the time for those long drives anymore.
