What We Can Learn From a Real Human Fetus
____
In this video, Jonathan from the Institute of Human Anatomy shows a real human fetus from the laboratory to highlight the incredible steps that occur during human development. He discusses the significant events that occur throughout each trimester, and also talks about how the embryonic and fetal periods can impart valuable lessons about life and how we came to be through these amazing developmental processes.

My son was born at 26 weeks weighing 1 lb., 13 ozs. and dropped to 1 lb., 7 ozs. We were told he may not walk, talk, or think for himself. He was in the NICU for three months and weighed a little over 5 lbs. at three months old. He is now 36, an AF veteran, an avid golfer, and the father of my two grandbabies. He is my miracle baby! Glory to GOD!

It's amazing as you say, miraculous even. I know there's probably many stories like this out here, but yours resonated so closely to mine, it brought back both heartfelt and beautiful memories. The most amazing thing to me personally , is that all new life , starts with one single cell . Meaning that single cell , becomes the catalyst for everything that follows . Now isn't that the miracle of life . That one cell .... with a little bit of help from the giver of life in general . That we are constantly surrounded by , everyday of our lives . And yet still the deniers believe that life came about through some sort of ' accident '. Perhaps a flash of lightening , gave the spark that was needed to get the whole process rolling . Literally out of nowhere . For those who believe that train of thought , here's a little question . If you could live for a million years , or longer , and starred at the same spot , all that time , would a tree grow ? Or would a bird take to the air ? Or indeed , would a human being come to life ? Or would that same spot be as lifeless as it was a million years before ? To my way of thinking , the answer to that question is probably yes , it would remain the same . In other words a lifeless void . There would be no life , because life itself requires more than just time or circumstance . It requires that almost indefinable magical ingredient , that some choose to call devine intervention . And I choose to think of as being the great unknown .

I find super interesting that human embryos look very much like embryos of many other species. Few weeks later, it become evident for the untrained eye that it is a human and not another animal.

"Ernst Haeckel held that in its embryological development, an animal tends to repeat or recapitulate the sequence that its ancestors followed during their evolution. Knowing the efforts to preserve bodies for scientific study is incredible enough on adult bodies, let alone a fetus. It's one of those situations where the premature death of a fetus is no doubt sad, but there is some comfort in the amount of knowledge gained from the study.

As a biology and anatomy & physiology teacher, I also go "super nerd" when I tell students about the zygote. I always ask students"After it divides into 2, then 4, then 8 cells, which one is a kidney cell, a heart cell, a brain cell, etc until I have listed more than 8 organs? (Yes, I know that organs contain multiple types of cells, but I'm trying to make a point as simple as possible.) You can actually see the confusion set in as they run out of cells before all organs are mentioned. I use this to introduce stem cells. It seems to work pretty well.

No, this was not an abortion. They can't legally take a baby this far along . The window of time for an abortion is between 8-9 weeks, as it's only a fetus then, not a baby. This baby wld have died inside the mom, maybe a heart defect, or kidney failure. Maybe the mom died somehow, like in a car accident, or murdered. Anyway, the only way a baby can be kept in a jar, for new doctors to study and learn from, is with the mom's consent. Or the father's, or next of kin, if she died as well as the baby.

I remember thinking all of that when my first daughter was born. I just held her and kept saying, "my word, you've got a whole pair of kidney's, a spleen and I don't know what that is, a uterus and more!" On and on until my hubs was over it lol. She was little too, so even more impressive to me.

They covered vaping several months back! It's something different watching actual embryos and fetuses live on your own eyes and computer simulation despite the taboo. (You don't have to study for MD there are stuff like Body Worlds expositions ) The process is amazing, bit like evolution in fast forward. There's a sense of dread too, those were people who never lived. Makes you wanna think how many never had chance to get past the zygotes phase. Having a healthy baby bring born is mind blowingly miraculous taking how many things can go wrong.

Thanks!😊 Although was a bit confused when you stated the number of years you have been teaching and working cux I thought that plus 5 years was your cumulative age.. look so young !
