This awesome song proves the talent they had: deep lyrics, tremendous synth sound created... Another heroes from the romantic times. Much more than a simple pop band.
I LOVE THIS SONG! It is still, one of a FAVs! 💖 I Love Human League! The 80s UK Bands were Everything! Back In The Day! I Loved the GLAM GUYS!!! Even the UK METAL ROCKERS! Such as LUVIX!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩💖💖💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
The combo of Phil's awesome voice, and the naïve way he wrote those songs (they have funny little chord & meter progressions that a more knowledgable musician would just never have thought of). This band is truly a triumph of the common people.
@@michelelaraia7358 Yes, you're pointing at the 2nd song. But what are you saying about it? What do you want me to notice?? (Je comprends le français aussi, si c'est plus facile...)
I like the very the title of the song as well as the lyrics of it. It has a meaning in life. Jus like me, having a heart like a wheel. Its easy to turn away from real. All you have to do is dream about the past, and hope for the future.
I remember meeting Philip Oakey for the first time in 1994 when he still had his long hair, that was also the last time I saw him with this long hair, he had it cut short due to hair loss. But that first time meeting him was amazing and weird at the same time, weird in as I had just to moved to Sheffield (UK) I was in shop where he used to visit to buy equipment for the band. As I had already been in shop for a while I was about to go home when something stopped me in my tracks, a feeling so strong that I could not ignore, Philip walked past me into the main area of the shop and I got to meet him! I was star struck and only managed to pick up the courage to talk to him. But Wow, it was a moment I could never ever forget! I got to meet him and Joanne and Susan a few time since and they always appeared like very down to earth people and made time for a chat!
The 70’s and the 80’s were alright for Music, but there WERE a few bad things, strikes, dead bodies, on and off recessions, and AIDS, related to certain groups. Not that it isn’t true, that ANYONE can get it, or HIV.
Romantic was unfairly a minor hit here in italy...compared to previous human League s works. Imo This is another great proof how phil and his band made great and attracting synth pop tracks.
Humano league, Milli vanilli, U2, ,Roxette, cindi lowper, DJ Bobo, information society, Depeche mode, Madonna e Voyage e Corona, Sandra etc E muitos da época não lembrados e nunca deveremos esquecermos.
Went to the horse racing at Ayr back in 2012 The Human League were playing live after the last race so i went down early and went into the McDonalds at the racecourse and guess who was sitting their enjoying a burger non other than Joanne Catherall and Susan Ann Sulley I couldn't take my eyes off them. PS they were amazing.
Love this song. It was a changing time and the song was still in the 80s and it was 1990. I jam to this song when driving!!! It feels like a Kamen Rider end theme.
