Rob Knight, Ph.D., delves into the incredible world of our gut microbiome and its potential impact on our health, particularly its role in conditions like autism. By examining various dietary strategies and their effects on the gut, Knight reveals the remarkable potential of tailored diets in managing health conditions, offering hope for new, more accessible treatments. Moreover, Knight discusses the complex relationship between probiotics, their benefits, and potential risks, highlighting the importance of evidence-based choices. Knight underlines the crucial link between our diet, our gut, and our overall health, shedding light on the exciting future of microbiome-focused interventions in medicine. For parents, caregivers, and anyone interested in improving their health, this lecture provides valuable insights into how the foods we eat can be harnessed to nurture a healthier gut and, in turn, a healthier life. Excellent presentation I try and eat more than 30 different plants per day and recently increased it to 60 plants thru a diverse range of tropical fruit tree leaf teas…it has made a huge difference in my health🐸🌱

Psychiatrist from Harvard Dr. Palmer has had excellent results from treating patients with the ketogenic diet. It would be interesting to do a microbiome analysis before and after diet change of his patients. People on the carnivore diet also speak of tremendous improvement in their health too so a microbiome analysis would be most interesting there too.

A microbiome analysis would be good there. Especially to weed out the anecdotal bias that people present from thr carnivore diet. They probably report improved health only because of temporary decreased bloating and water depletion due to drop in carbs. That is my guess. Because no actual studies show improved “health” from carnivore diet

@@kban77 there are carnivore diet RU-vidrs that continually report their very in-depth bloodwork with symptoms on the diet for example Jenny Mitich. Google her name.

People speak of.... Anecdotal evidence is no evidence. Yes proper science is required.

@@robguyatt9602 the ketogenic diet is the most studied diet of all diets since it has been used as a therapy for diseases such as epilepsy. More and more individuals are taking lab data analysis such as what Jenny Mitich has done. Dave Feldman is about to release data on the low carb diet lean mass hyper responders and heart disease. It’s all quite interesting.

Dr. Knight, maybe look at studying WFPB diet instead of vegan.

@@leelajapheth4051 Whole Food Plant Based is products such as vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds. Vegan eliminates all animal food but could still eat an Oreo because it doesn't contain animal products.

@@tammya236 ah... I am on Dr esseltyn plant base. No nuts ( no high omega 6) No sugar No oil No saturated fats such as coconut No animals products. Balsamic vinegar turn off the bad bacteria in gut that produces TMAO So I am taking ACV balsamic and rice vinegar. What is Oreo?

@@tammya236but many autistics have food sensitivities so they cannot eat plants. .many have celiac or gluten sensitivity. I also have a corn allergy so had to cut out tons of stuff. And corn derivatives are everywhere. Add in chemical sensitivity and produce is sprayed with chemicals. Tons of stuff not safe to eat. Plus hEDS often travels with autism so you have to avoid fiber because if you eat too much fiber you get gastroperisis. Bad constipation. Caused by fiber. Many end up on carnivore type diets.

He has a mild speech impediment in the form of a slight lisp, but despite suffering slight hearing impairment from over 50 years of listening to loud music and playing electric guitar in heavy rock and punk rock bands, I could hear absolutely every word he said. I politely suggest that you may need your ears examining and possibly even syringing... 🤷‍♂️
