This was the saddest sight of Quasimodo that I have seen. He was so devasted to see the woman he loved dead and being dragged like a doll.

Poor Quasi...it breaks my heart everytime that all his fighting for her (though it was against the wrong people) was in vain. And to see her dragged through the streets...it must've broken his heart :(

So after she was tortured and spent a month rotting in jail with no light and little food and water, and vermin crawling over her, he comes and says he loves her one day before she gets hanged? For me, there was nothing beautiful about the declaration, just a maddened deprived maniac obsessing.

And esme wasnt shallow she was in love and gave it all even a vow of chastity in order to find her parents

I like that this is a version that shows Jehn Frollo(Claudes younger brother)..in the book he is flung around like a sling by his feet and tossed off the balcony..very brutal

and if he TRULY loved her he would have saved her from being hung and loved her even if she didn't love him back. when you truly love soon you'll want them to live even if they don't love you. he was obsessed not in love most definitely

Frollo never loved her at all He just wanted her as his sex object and rape her He didn't care about her feelings, her situations nor anything about her In the novel's dark finale, he took her to the gallows away from Notre Dame and demanded her to either sleep with him or be hanged to death before he hands her over to the king's soldiers and the executioner after she completely rejected him for the last time He even looses it when she calls him an assassin as another rejection "Well, yes! An assassin! And I will have you! You will not have me for your slave! You shall have me for your master! I will have you! I have a den weither I will drag you! You will follow me! You will be obliged to follow me or I will deliver you up! You must die, my beauty or be mine! Belong to the priest! Belong to the apostate! Belong to the assassin! This very night, do you hear?! Come! Joy! Kiss me, mad girl! THE TOMB OR MY BED!"

But Frollo was stalking her, threatening her and scaring her in the streets, denounced her as a witch and put her on the black list of future arrests, stubbed her boyfriend in front of her and after she was arrested for his crime, he gave away her goat tricks to Charmolue and ensured that she would be found guilty.

But Erik didn't get Christine arrested AND tortured AND locked up with vermin for weeks AND sentenced to death. And if I recall correctly he did not prefer to see her dead if she didn't realise he loved her. If these had happened then Christine wouldn't acknowledge Erik's feelings either. Besides, Frollo wouldn't be satisfied if Esmeralda said, "Fine, I know you love me, can I go home now?". He meant to sleep with her first. Erik on the other hand changed his mind and let her off.

She wasnt mean to quasi after she got to know him and frollo was never ever ever ever in love with her he was obsessed and whats beautiful about saying choose me or the gallows?

Oh my gosh. YES. Don't even get me started on Frollo's character (so. AWESOME!), and I definitely sided more with Fleur-de-Lys than Esmeralda by the end.

Honestly I read the book and I hated how Esmerelda treated Quasimodo. She gave him water yes, but then she dis and dismissed him so badly. All of my love for the story goes to Quasimodo, maybe they will make another movie for theater going and make Esme kinder, Phoebus the player, Gringore Esme true love and the hunchback well he stays exactly the way he always should be.

because Hugo wanted so. there's a nice idea here. esme wold have never accepted quasy while living, so that they had to die in order to be together. the outcast and the monster, a perfect match. soooo sad.

In the book she is sent to the gallows from her cell, but in the movie she get's accidently killed and hanged. Strangely Djajli got hanged too because in the novel he was taken by Gringoire.

I agree with DaniMajor! In the novel, I really hate Esmeralda. When I was reading about how she was getting executed. I said............" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA".
