Lucas's son (Marcus) is locked out of his house after Lucas's arrest for molesting multiple of the kindergarten children. Marcus then goes to his father's former best friend's house (Theo) - Klara's father - on Christmas day, to ask if he has a key to the house. Theo then invites him in and what follows is this scene.
The scene is from the 2012 Danish movie The Hunt (Jagten), about a man who gets falsely accused of sexually abusing kindergarten children, by a 5 year old girl (Klara) who had a crush on him.

i think Klara deserved to be spit on since she tries to ruin Lucas family. I dont mean that Klara is evil or bad but why did she come up with a lie like that so the lesson in this movie is: never work in a kindergarden because kids can come up with lies that is not true so i can now understand why men usualy dont wanna work in kinder gardens because i have seen that these days men are treated like they are sick monsters wich is so dumb and unfair.

Here it really becomes clear that Klara doesn’t understand the consequences of her actions and how that simple lie really screwed up Lucas’s life, and most likely the lives of everyone around him. I mean I’d think such an aggressive approach would get her chocked enough to make her stop or at least warrant a bigger reaction, but I guess it didn’t work...

This aspect is why this movie is great. Otherwise it would've been a simple 'wrong man' movie,but the fact that it's actually a kid who started it lends a very different dimension. The ending was perfect too.

The movie is about a person hated by an entire community for doing something he is not guilty of doing. But the most important thing is the fact that a mob is created surrounding the hate of Lucas; and that the mob is braindead and not willing to listen to any reason or logic. What's interesting is that most of the audience reacted the exact same way as the characters in the film did towards Lucas; without taking the feelings of anyone who went against Lucas into account. For instance, the (admittely really annoying) mother who must've been feeling a strong motherly instinct to protect her child from a potential pedophile. The entire audience automatically turned against anyone who remotely went against Lucas. And those who do so did not think critically enough about the movie
@jonaskristensen-fq2xt
@jonaskristensen-fq2xt Год назад
I agree that the mother must have had a strong motherly insrubct, and the father must have had a very strobg fatherly instibct, and i'd understand why they would keep away from him, and especially keep their daughter away frim him until there was any new info from the police, but shootibg his dog, smashing his window, and threatening to kill him like thwy did is inexcusable, and there is no excuse for that kind of behaviour, no matter what.

I cannot believe the comments on the little girl. I guess nobody knows how a 5 year old brain works. How thin the line between immagination and reality is for them. How easily they can be manipulated. The nursery manager did an awful job, asking misleading questions ("did Lucas do this?", "and then this happened? etc etc.). Planting "memories " in her brain. And although you always need to be careful with (possible) abuse, the autority's should have handled it more discrete and not jumping into conclusions. He had no history of abuse (accusations), I assume no child pornography on his computer as well, etc etc. They should have let him talk and listen to him and, without any prove, not automaticaly assume he is guilty. But Klara honestly didn't know what was going on and was not "telling a lie to ruin him". (Young) children are often not able to memorize events correct (even adults have troubles with that) and have a totally different view on the world. Terrible for Mads Mikkelson's character what happened to him. But the point of the movie was, how easily someone can be viewed as "guilty" and therefore become a Paria in the community, losing everything. And that the love and loyalty for your child always comes before the love and loyalty for your friends. Everybody was in doubt, but the "safety" and wellbeing of their child was more important for the parents. I don't know what I would do, if I was in the position of the parents... As an audience we know what happened, what made Klara say what she said (and therefore feeling angry about the injustice Lukas has to face), but the characters in this movie don't have that insight.

Wow, great comment! I’m glad you pointed this out; it seems many missed the point of the film. The story was slightly inspired by the outbreak of cases similar to this (ie: Mcmartin preschool case). Children’s brains are incredibly early in their development, and can be convinced of events via suggestion. Klara is not the “enemy” of the film. The true target of this film is the ideals of mob justice, the righteousness that people feel when ostracizing an innocent member of their community, and the rush to judgment people often make. I’ve seen multitudes of people attack Klara’s character for the injustices committed against Lukas, but I’ve also seen people claim that Vinterberg made a film which fuels the mocking, disbelief, and shaming of rape victims. Klara is a victim, just as Lukas is. The film’s true target is society, and how it respond to situations such as these.

@@royroyston8480 I never said he didn’t get treated worse. Lucas got treated far worse, yes, but this was never my point to begin with. I just admired the original comment for understanding the targets of this film. Klara is a confused child, who first learns about sexuality from her older brother showing her an explicit video. Adults in the film take advantage of her mental capabilities as a child via asking leading questions and essentially planting the story in her mind. My point was never to equate the suffering Klara and Lukas receive, but merely to point out the Klara is not the enemy of this film. She is a victim of the same society and mob mentality that Lukas is. However, her mistreatment manifests itself behind a facade of benevolence and a pursuit of justice.
@royroyston8480
@royroyston8480 3 года назад
You said that they are both victims. I disagree. They are not. Klara didn't suffer in this film. She may have been manipulated, or duped (which I don't ultimately accept either) but she doesn't undergo any harsh treatment. You can't equate the experiences of the two characters. Klara isn't "confused". She's just lying. The seed of the lie begins with her. Nothing would've happened to Lucas if she hadn't invented this entire story to begin with. So, to suggest that the root cause of the wrong doing in the film, even if she is a child, is somehow a victim, is egregious in my opinion.
