What a gorgeous little town. The train trip was so enjoyable to watch. French trains put North American trains to shame. I wish we could get high speed rail in Canada but the country is just too big and it would probably cost a fortune to build a high speed system here. Such a shame. Cooper is such a sweet dog. He was so cute drinking from the hose. Enjoy your trip.
That is so neat, how wonderful to have someone traveled just to meet you - Neil Gaiman was comforting and author who was embarrassed only two people came to her signing - he said he had one for Gods and Omens and no one came so she had 2 up on him! - to have a friend actually read and enjoy my work - humbling. Cooper has such a great life - little back pack pup everywhere!
Enfin du soleil et de la chaleur ... je vis dans un département limitrophe de La Rochelle et il fait 22°C avec un soleil magnifique aujourd'hui. Cooper a pu prendre son repas sur le port, c'est la classe !!
I love the excitement of discovering new places! It reminds me of my trip pre covid, we did Paris for a few day, then mont st michel, then Laval and back to Paris 😀 the AVE trains are amazing xx
When we were learning French at school (I’m in England) Every conversation seemed to happen in La Rochelle! It seemed like this magical place where all French people are. So finally we get to see it!! Such a fun vlog
Ah, yes, I was watching struggling not to think about Claude Leclochard and Christophe Lambert. Unlike the dinginess of my school classrooms and a 10 year old textbook, real La Rochelle looks fantastic!
One thing about train travel in Europe though, I was recently traveling on a train in Spain and they did have you go through airport style security in Madrid (and there was a line) so just do your research as rules vary by country.
Those shots where you leave your camera on the ground and board the metro make me so nervous! I keep expecting someone to take your camera… but of course… I’d never see that shot… but still. 😳😳😳😳😳
I had a trip to La Rochelle planned in the spring of 2020 with all the tickets and reservations booked, but then the whole world closed down. I have yet to get there, but you gave me a glimpse.
Hey Jay, I noticed you put both the leash and your jacket in the overhead shelf… did you forget your jacket on the train? Hopefully not. I hope you have a great time and I can’t wait to see more of this town.
SNCF is thinking of ending the direct line between Paris and La Rochelle. Not enough profits. It would be replaced by a bus between Niort and La Rochelle. So enjoy this direct train while it lasts.
I once flew to another state to hear one of my favorite authors speak. There was a wine and cheese event afterwards as well with a meet-and-greet opportunity. There was something about the intentionality of the trip that made it so meaningful to me. Like, who does this?😅
While you were explaining Europe's train rules I wondered where your audience comes from. I am from Cologne, Germany, so I know the train system. But I guess many of your followers don't. Could you make poll or something, please? I would like to know. Don't you? 😊
I am going to Paris on Monday (as long as it doesn’t rain). Only two days. Have plans🎉. I decided to go to the country next trip. Where would you suggest? I dont have cool friends in France like you. ✈️ 🌴🌴Aloha
