A film deemed "controversial" for reasons unknown, other than the fact that it addresses the social bus fire we're in. Here's my review for THE HUNT! #TheHunt
Yup. Trailers drew me in with Emma Robert's, Justin Hartley (who isn't even credited - I checked the film's IMDb page) & Ike Barinholtz. Was so surprised when they all died in the first act. Lol
“NO MORE GLASS!!!!” I literally busted out laughing. I don’t know if she said it because she was tired of going through glass, or tired of all the broken glass in the house.
I lost it in the car! When she pulled her legs and kicked him! Died laughing! But overall I loved her character! She just was like idgaf I'm just gonna kill these people that were trying to kill me and then I want to go home. And I think this movie really shows that you need to know who you're fucking with cause if you mess with the wrong one you're gonna have a bad day! 😂
@@andiman44 I wasn't sure because he added The World's in his title. I figured he either meant the film or the 1924 short story it was based on. Many other films including Surviving The Game, The Pest, and Hard Target are at least loosely based on or inspired by that short story. And then I noticed he went back and edited his title. Haha.
It sounds like this might be one of the rarest of the rare: a true political satire that lampoons everyone, not just one particular side. Nowadays, most of the movies that claim to be satirical only actually satirize what the filmmakers don't agree with. (Cough cough Vice) It would be really refreshing if this movie was actually unbiased in its jokes.
Does anyone remember Ice-T had a movie called Surviving the Game where he was homeless and hunted for sport by rich white men. And Hard Target with Van Damme.
@Sauron Merciful Van Damme (in full cajun accent) and his glorious mullet are helping a woman search for her homeless Vietnam vet father in New Orleans. They find out that he was a victim of a group of people who hunt homeless for sport. Then 90's action happens! Good times!
I distinctly remember, while the majority were rich white men, there was also a rich black man Charles dutton that was heavily involved in the hunt and a Arab man and his son. So not only rich white men, just more elitist sons of bitches that were multi racial. Good try though
Kevin Vindel- Castillo yeah Battle Royale is a fucking masterpiece. Jeremy probably hasn’t seen it though because of that GIANT one inch barrier that is subtitles.
I will totally go see this movie. I hate that this movie was delayed, it was supposed to come out last year, in the fall. I was looking forward to it, because I love manhunt movies. My other favorite manhunt movies include: The Running Man, The first Hunger Games, The Most Dangerous Game and finally the greatest manhunt movie of all time (PREDATOR).

A small thing that I noticed was that the left wings wore red for the actual hunt and the right wings more cooler colors like blue and grey. It’s interesting because we associate these colors with the opposite sides.

When she geared up and did the hydraulic noise as she turned to kick the fake embassy dude out of the car, I completely lost it. Same when she made the face when liberty shot an arrow at her in the bunker!
I enjoyed Hard Target, one of my favorite Van Damme movies. When I saw the trailer for The Hunt, I thought more along the lines of Surviving the Game. I may check it out.
Saw this a couple of days ago and it's shame it's no longer in theaters because that's where I would have had a "blast" Loved Betty Gilpin in this. Didn't even know who she was until i saw this. The was a perfect blend of gory action and comedy.
Not gunna lie, the Hard Target reference at the end kinda has me pumped to see this. Now if only Jean Claude made a cameo with that exact same hairstyle. Priceless.
Peasham It was attacked because it showed a bunch of Hollywood types gleefully murdering their hated political enemies. It was also made by that same Hollywood. Trump’s tweeting was irrelevant, as usual.
@@Noplayster13 Nope. No one was complaining when the advertising for the movie was taking place. Only and specifically after Trump called it racist did the snowflake meltdown happen. If Trump's tweeting was irrelevant, the movie would've been attacked before the tweets.

Overall I liked this movie, (just got back from seeing it) the only issue I had with it is that I think there needed to be an extra 30 minutes. Because there are many sides to a story on why characters believe what they believe. I would’ve liked to see that view of there’s I like to see different perspectives. Other than that I’d give it an 8/10 pretty decent movie.
If Covid-19 gets to a point where upmoving movies are pushed back, like James Bond: No Time to Die, please Jeremy review movies that came out years ago that you haven't already done obviously! Just don't stop making videos!

@@jjmiles7173 Are you a scientist? How would you know that? There have been zero reliable articles that have found conclusive evidence that COVID-19 will be affected by warm weather. Florida has been seeing temperatures between 80 and 85 for a while now, and yet the virus is spreading there like wildfire. This is just wishful thinking.

Same thing for the Arkham games. And he praised the planet of the apes movies as well. can't see any reason why he wouldn't do one about the upcoming one though.
Ya know with all these movies being postponed this is the perfect time to review older movies for younger audiences who are just breaking into the movie universe - it'll at least keep your channel going and entertain all of us people who are isolated so please keep uploading haha
I have not seen Hard Target but I should. I watched the trailer and at the end directed by John Woo and produced by Sam Rami and Robert Tapert. This sounds like it's incredible. For a cheezy 90s film.

Great review as always. BTW, I highly recommend you watch GLOW! I promise you won't regret it. In my opinion, it is easily one of the best Netflix shows out there. That and BoJack Horseman. You should review both shows!!!
I didn't think there was any social commentary or message in this film. They were just making fun of stereotypes with the banter but beyond that it's a straightforward action thriller with humor.

I remember people crying about the new Terminator being SJW, as they ignore T2 literally having 2 monologues where Sarah says a machine's a better dad than human men cuz they're all assholes and where Sarah blames men for making nukes. People just got more sensitive as far as I'm concerned.
i thought the movie was great. People who didn't enjoy it are most likely either super-right or super-left or just cannot stand violence. The movie is just as extreme as all the caricatures it presents so it was also quite poetic in that respect
I feel sorry for these filmmakers. Think about this: You delay the movie for the sake of people recovering from several mass shootings at the same time as the movie is supposed to be coming out. Spend months trying to keep the movie from being shelved cause of snowflakes on both sides (mainly conservatives who haven’t even seen the movie) then once the film FINALLY comes out, and would be one of the most hyped films of the year, guaranteeing that even if the film sucks the investors will still get their money back, next to no one is gonna see it cause we’re in the middle of a GODDAMN PANDEMIC. FUCK! To quote Yahtzee Croshaw: “Talk about sidestepping a pothole only to fall off a bridge!”
Peasham I agree. Though I’ve heard there were at least some liberals who didn’t like the idea of being portrayed as violent murderers. But the outrage delay was DEFINITELY more the fault of conservatives. Which is ironic given how the film’s marketing essentially portrays them as the victims who fight back

I agree. I thought the movie was advertised as tasteless and out of touch, but I never thought it should have been canceled. They could make; I just wouldn’t go see it.
Peasham Well, the advertising for the movie did kind of imply that everyone on the right should be hunted down and slaughtered like animals, so some complaining was inevitable. It *was* made in Hollywood after all, where that sentiment is likely not uncommon. So in defense of the right, it was trying to cancel something that seemed to be openly and gleefully advocating brutal violence against them. As opposed to cancelling someone for using the wrong pronoun.
@@Noplayster13 It is literally the exact same as someone not using the correct pronoun. They saw something in media they didn't like, and melted down accordingly. Just the same as when "SJWs" complain that women are treated as objects and rewards in movies, or when they complain that black people are exclusively criminals in movies. Black people all being criminals who need to be jailed can also be seen as advocating for their guilt by association, and women being objects can also be seen as advocating for their subjugation in society. I love this movie! The comedy and tragedy keeps you on your toes! "Deplorables" was a giveaway for Hillary Killary....Athena ...the name means "Goddess". It was so true to life in many ways!
The movie is a satire which is intentionally making fun of the extremes presented. As Chris Stuckman noted a guy in the film reveals a box he has in a trunk that blatantly says "bribe money". Can't get more satirical than that lol.
Instead of 'Cat & Mouse' you should have said 'Rabbit & Turtle/Tortoise'! Come on Jeremy, you dropped the ball on that one. Lol. Great review, even better film!
