Never like Messier, always represented the worst leadership qualities such as intimidation, pushing and lack of intelligence. He doesn't earn the second spot on the all-time scoring list of the NHL. He wasn't not a good team leader, he was an intimidator who's own teammates couldn't trust because he was reporting directly to the management.
Every time I hear someone refer to Mark Messier as "the ultimate leader", I simply ask, "Oh yeah.....what happened in Vancouver?" That usually shuts them up. Bill Russell, Jean Beliveau.....THOSE are "ultimate leaders". Messier isn't even on the same planet as those men, when it comes to leading teams.
Fedorov was a phenomenal skater, two way player, played even defense for the Wings when they needed him. Ok, so the guy wasn’t a pushover, allowing a team to take advantage of him…why should he?
I bleed Oilers orange and blue so this is hard. If a team already has a captain then who the **** put you in charge? The Messier family lived a mile from my high school so I'm not holding some stupid grudge.
@@IcyPuck just do your homework. If you wanna have a hockey channel, you prolly should have in depth knowledge of the game. Anything less hurts your credibility.
I'm a Rangers fan and remember Nedved. I was actually excited when he first came to the Rangers because you saw flashes of greatness. Turned out those flashes were just barely a spark from a lighter. I was pissed when the Rangers traded for him the second time. Really pissed
