The Illegal Street Fighter 2 For NES !! 

Christ, I remember living in the Philippines as a kid and playing this on a bootleg Famicom that was shaped like a Genisis 2.

Heheheh. Year is 2005. As a kid, my life revolved staying at the internet cafes. From there, my main exposure to Street Fighter 2 was a fanmade Flash game where you can only play as Ryu vs Sagat. It was amazing for a fanmade creation. Lots of kids claimed they also played Street Fighter 2 on their Terminator (Househould console name of a Famiclone where i live). I really wanted to try this version and i imagined it will resemble and play like the awesome SF2 flash game i used to play. I went with my mom to chose me the birthday present wich i wanted (A new famiclone controller + this game), and at the 1$ store they sold some pirated cartidges. What caught my eye was this yellow Street FIghter 2 cartridge, wich had a character render from Dead or Alive 2. The game looked and played nowhere near as good as the what i thought "Real" SF2 flash game i played, but never the less, I HAD TONS OF FUN PLAYING IT EVERY DAY FOR YEARS! Huge props to my mom who did everything to make me happy, during those though and cold times of unemployment and amusingly low salaries, we were broke and this simple controller and game cartridge gift bought for just 5$ ment so much to me!

I played this on the famicom as a kid, and I thought that it was awesome at the time. My family couldn't afford to buy me the latest console, so I eventually got a knock-off famicom. This was one of the games I remember renting in the mid 90s. It resulted in my smashing my famicom power adapter out of frustration because Chun-Li always found a way to trap me in a corner and beat me to death within a couple of seconds. 😂

When it comes to SF2s worldwide success. There’s always going to be bootleg versions of their counterpart just so they could get some sweet sweet Capcom money. But the fun part is that they do an awesome work turning these games into NES version of their 16-bit games.

These games are visually very impressive and technically impressive as well.

The fact that companies who specialized on bootleg games were able to count past 2 on their Street Fighter series before Capcom really blows my mind.

Here in Mexico, we got a SF II bootleg where you could fight as Mario, I know it sounds nuts, but it was real.

I remember playing the Famicom version "Street Fighter 3" using an adapter for NES, back when I was a kid in Mexico as a rental for a weekend. My cousins already had the SNES with Street Fighter 2, but I still had my NES and was a big fan of the SF game. This was before I learned of the SF2 Turbo version so I had fun playing as "the evil bosses" that weekend.

99% of my childhood experience with Street Fighter was from these games. At the time I didn't even know they weren't legit. I remember even having one where Mario was a playable character.

This was actually the first home console version of SF2 that i've played, back in the early 90s. Though i was fortunate enough to play on the 16 bit version once one of my friends and cousins purchased the game.

I had this on my famicom actually hahah. all of these crazy titles were widely sold in south America (I'm in Argentina)

Considering the limited power of the nes the graphics are not to bad

11:23 SF4Famicom actually has combos (close punch or kick, then crouching kick and then end with a special attack that is a projectile or forward moving attack) it's mostly possible on corners tho.

This is a shame Capcom didn't do an NES release. It would have been such a huge rental hit and copies sold. I remember having the tiger electronics game and only playing the arcade. Then Sega and super Nintendo

Hummer softs conversions at least felt like honest efforts. But Cony's outside the one they released on the Yoko brand? OOF! Cony did actually release a version of the game that had all 12 characters and even Mai Shiranui and Andy Bogard from Fatal Fury. I'd almost like to see you do a video on the OTHER Cony Street Fighter games.

We had so much fun with this back in the day. Except the one we played was called Mario Fighter. It's got the core SF2 fighters as seen in video + a Mario character.

honestly, the idea of changing the palette/head of a character in an unlicenced game to boost the roster numbers is somewhat ingenious, depending on how the characters themselves are coded. like wherever if its more economical to create a bunch of move frames for the same "character" but split the differences between their alts or what. i think Joy Mech Fight takes aspects of both cases by having characters utilize moves from others, as well as use different heads/gimmicks for the resurrected boss characters; though that game utilized floating limbs, so the realestate for sprites/data was probably far smaller.

I love those NES Street Fighter, were my first contact with the game, which I had only seen in arcades in the 90s.

Oooh... me and my brother spent tons of time playing Super Street Fighter 3 game. We are already playing a lot of SF2 World Warriors in arcade that time but my family can't afford to buy better console. I remember when you sonic boom or m-bison attack, you can just press forward+A or B to repeat no need to charge. Also you can make Blanka's spin attack like you throw a ball in the air so enemy gets 3 hits back+head+front and during hits keep pressing punch so another hit for electricity lol. Simpler times!

That pirate game is the only game my family can afford at that time and I swear I enjoyed it like heavenly. Since I don't have access to arcade. I remember spend many hours playing it.

I played this a lot, but sf3 on the nes is superior in every way.

Street Fighter Alpha Zero for the Famicom is really fun too

I had a bootleg version of the NES in 96 and some few cartridges. One of those cartridges was this SF2.

I have played a lot of the famicom SF4... You could cheese thru the game using Stalong or Ranboo ... Knockdown an opponent then start holding the back button and spam the b button and watch your opponent get OTG'd to death

I don't mind if a developer refines the same game multiple times. I've played SF2WW, SF2CE, and SSF2 on the SNES. Without these refinements, we would never have gotten the awesome SSF2 on the SNES (or Genesis) that we all know and love (I do at least). My only regret is that they didn't go 1 step further and put SSF2T on SNES and Genesis. I would have bought that too. I know you've complained(?) repeatedly in your videos about Capcom "takes advantage of their fans by releasing the same game with tweaks and improvements over and over again", but fans don't have to buy every single release. I personally bought SF2WW second hand from a friend a few years after it's release. I complete skipped over CE, and jumped straight to SSF2 which I played to death, until I got SFA2, and then I played that one to death. I just added CE to my collection within the last few years and now my SF collection on the SNES is complete. I am a proud owner of all 4 SF's on the SNES, as well as SFA3, MVC, and MVC2 on the DC. If they had a more up to date SFA3 on DC, I probably would have gotten that as well. 😃

I am from Algeria, and I had this pirate console (7:00 Terminator lol) with those games and this version of street fighter lol loved that console :D

A few monikers have gone through changing associations over the years where also Hummer Team can only make me giggle. ^_^ I've always admired the ambition pirates demonstrated on the Famicom since they are feats in themselves for even existing despite often not having the level of polish needed to be truly taken seriously. So in that sense the extra finesse by modders has taken a lot them to the next level of quality. :) 8-bit fighting games can have responsive controls as GBC SF:Alpha is a lot more responsive than Famicom bootlegs. I think to a large extent doing sprites that big on Famicom probably restricted what they could do in all other aspects of their engines. The revision history numerals and naming definitely is one of the funnier aspects of this sub genre. ;)

That was really awesome..even if it's only 4 characters (5 in Master Fighter III)..when I noticed that Zangief is small it remind me of Bowser in Kart Fighter who is smaller than other characters..by The Way..Top Hat, There is a version of this Street Fighter II Bootleg where it adds Mario from Super Mario Series..and the Sprite is from SMB3..as well as the stage.. not only Street Fighter has variety of bootleg games..Mortal Kombat too has only couple of them..and The King of Fighters has only 2 bootleg games on NES

I wasn't happy with the Sega Genesis, but I also wasn't impressed with the Super Nintendo. Then I played Street Fighter II on the SNES and enjoyed it more than I did at the arcade. That's when I fell in love with the Super Nintendo.

I don't know if it was this one but I DO remember playing SF on NES. It was on those japanese smaller cartridges you needed an adapter for to play them on PAL NES

YOKO version is the best bootleg in my opinion. In my time, we couldn't afford or find snes easily. But there was a lot of family computer clone on market. So we grow up with this.

Does any know which version of street fighter had Ryu's stage in twilight as shown in 41 seconds in? I remember seeing something similar in a video game magazine ( although my memory is screaming it seemed earlier in the day) but never seen it in a playable version. Usually Ryu's stage is around sunset or night in every version I played.

I got that Super Fighter 3 for family and was good.

Growing up in a post soviet country not having access to legal Nintendo games and consoles we had a ton of these bootleg Famiclones and orange/yellow bootleg cartridges with both licensed and unlicensed games, and romhacks. Played the shet out of this game. My version was called Master Fighter 2. It was a much better game than whatever the hell street fighter 2010 was.
