If I remember right somewhere, they explained that the machine spirit is like animal level A.I. like the titans of the mechanicus are akin to wolves and lions on the hunt and are capable of holding gruges and getting home sick .so imperial cope is "its A.I. but not human level, so it's okay as long as we don't say A.I"
I recall a tale of about a black templars Landraider crusader. Basically some black templars were getting ready to attack some enemy stronghold/base/camp and all of a sudden they realized the Landraider wasn't where they parked it. Only then noticed the tread marks heading in a certain direction followed by shooting. The templars basically wrote it off as the machine spirit of the Landraider was just really eager to do the emperor's work and strike down the enemies of mankind
That and their pet Titian proves that the black templars have the best machine spirits aside from this land raider and the Titian known as the breaker of chains ofc
Only in death does duty end, even for the venerable machines they ride in on. I salute Rynn's Might for her sacrifice and pray to the Emperor and the Machine God that she can be brought back to life to kick Ork butt again.
There are plenty of machine spirit stories on the Imperial Knights. Is pretty common for the pilots to need to fight against the spirit for it not to rush mindlessly into battle. And one Knight that the pilot died during a fight and the spirit took over and continued to slaughter everything for years. Then it got worshipped for a while for Korn worshipers. And because all the gore on it, he ended being worshipped by necron flaiers and teleported with them around battlefields.
I see the Machine Spirits as virtual intelligences. Not AGI, so not artificial generic intelligence. Just virtual intelligence, or highly sophisticated LLM AI style of thing.
Reminds me of the good boy: Cainus Rex, the war hound Titan that went to hell and back to rescue his pilot. Or the bolt gun who was so moved by his Space Marine was so noble, that it pushed itself passed the the normal limits of a bolt gun.
I mean Camba Diaz was an Imperial Fist who fell during the defence of Terra at the end of the Heresy so its entirely possible the last name Diaz is still among the ranks of the sons of Dorn
So I am by no means someone who is a big fan of tanks and I prefer walkers but stuff like this is so cool and I do feel like tanks in the novels I’ve read don’t get that much chance to shine. Things like this and the Eldar putting soul stones in their tanks and the ai of the T’au means that you have so many opportunities to create these stories where the tank is an important character but they are to my knowledge rare.
11:30 There's this once speeder bike on Calth, that was so impressed and awed by its Ultramarine rider (I forget his name), that it kept going, despite being massively overclocked and literally falling apart.
Since we know warp caused magic to appear in real-space, imperial saints appearing out of thin air in battles, legion of the damned exists, and there are examples in the books where chaos posses AI machines, its possible for AI to something more then just AI. Its not quite clear but thats what is good. There is no final answer for anything just as in real life.
So... I really need to learn NOT to watch @GeneralBradley101VA WH videos first thing in the morning when I'm drinking coffee, because... 0:57 AND THEN the **VICIOUS SPACE MARINE WARCRY** 🤣🤣🤣💀
Day 3 asking for a video series on the war of the beast! A huge story with salamanders making a last stand against an ancient ork, who wouldn’t love it?! I haven’t seen any other youtuber truly deep dive into it yet. Also love the work, helps alot to listen to while doing mindless games
The mechanicus will never recognise things as AI pretty much just because they are so consumed by religious dogma that masquerading AI as the machine spirit is just about the best they can get away with. The religious dogma also goes for the rest of the imperium as few people know of the time before the imperium and the causes of the Age of Strife and Old Night. We also have to consoder that the machine spirits are quite literally that, ghosts in the machines. Titans and Knight suits all have alteast part of the souls of its previous pilots and crews bound within the neural interfaces. They speak, have wills and can even take control if the pilot is not strong enough or if the situation is too much for just the pilot to manage. Some machine spirits also hsve their own personalities. One i specifically remember is for the Wyvern mortar tank for the imperial guard. The machine spirits of these vehicles are often bloodthirsty and will actively guide the gunner to target the largest concentration of enemy infantry, even if that is not the desired target by the crew, something the gunner needs to control if that is the case. It will also often aim itself to cause maximum damage to the enemy, often making the mortars detonate above the enemy in an airburst pattern to lethal effect. I suppose you could call it some kind of aim assist.
That tank......was not a blue boys tank that Bad Ass piece of Imperium "I will Flrall you untill you are beyond dead".....is clearly an tank of the Angry Marines Chapter.....that was in there for some maintenance (the angry boys were short in tech parts...due to use them has ammo).... SOOOOOO......the true name: 🤬"Angry Marine Tank"🤬
Well Old chap, I must disagree with you there, I will hear an argument for an IFV, but the Land Raider has las cannons, and enough armor to make a Termie blush.
