My 10 year old daughter uses her smart phone to play games (Roblox) and browse Kids RU-vid for a few hours on Saturday and Sunday. She has no access to make calls, texts, social media, or an internet browser (which can be disabled in the settings), and she cannot add any new apps or games without my permission. If you give your kids a phone, it is possible to ensure it’s used responsibly.
It's too easy to blame soc' media and phones. Adults are the problem. We're not setting an example- with today's youth merely reflecting the adults failures... Adults drink too much, indulge in so-called soft drugs, weed or speed and watch too much porn. They play games on their phones, gamble too much- again on their phones, shop on their phones etc- hell some "adults" still have games consoles ffs !!! Adults are as bad at socialising as our youngsters hence dating apps- and most adults IQ barely makes it into double figures. The govt' doesn't help- and the modern drive of pushing everything online- from banking to shopping etc all has a negative social impact. How many times will you socialise in just one shopping trip of old ? Nip into the bank to get some cash - or put some in, pop into several shops, meet folk you know along the way, chat with a bus/taxi driver etc etc. ALL missed opportunities at socialising. We need a drive to get the basic necessities of life back OFFLINE- keeping banks open and shops in the high street- with cash transactions- not self-serve tills... Adults are failing miserably- and the Govt' isn't helping. Small wonder our kids don't know what time of day it is...
Hear hear, ban mobiles phones for under 16's, they need to focus on their school work, too many kids have got hooked on online games which are not good for the mindset of children
