They are by definition divisive. Bringing immutable characteristics, as many major companies do, is the basis for toxic segregation.

Could you imagine a USA where white people took pride in being white? Where they voted primarily along racial lines? That’s the country you just helped start. Thank you!

That country didn't just start it has always been. That being said these affinity groups are stupid. This is coming from someone who considers himself liberal. This makes no sense, it is the opposite of what we have been trying to do, bring everyone together. Sheesh.

My whole life, I have pretty much been an outsider. Not because of my skin color. I didn't fit in with normal social groups. But how are they going to make an affinity group for everyone who feels this way ( probably a lot of people.) I am not saying this just to be controversial, or petty. What humans have to try to do, normally, is work through your feeling of isolation, and find common points where you can with people. Maybe you have a similar hobby. Or a sense of humor. Like the same TV show. Doesn't it make sense to try to find ways to intersect with other people, as opposed to try to retreat to some safe space? I mean, ok, sometimes we all need a safe place. But in general, sure seems like in life, you try to fit in just a bit, to get along at work, or church, or whatever. Outside of these larger social situations, of course we all hook up with people we connect most with. But there's two "phases" in life, your need to fit in with a larger social group best as you can, and your private life.

What you are describing is voluntary friendships and clubs which is different from "affinity spaces" which is school endorsed systemic segregation.

I like how you tell us why we should have them but not what they actually are. That's a pretty sleazy tactic, don't you think?

Yeah... if you *only* allow members based on race, sex, religion, ect. that is *by definition* segregation.

This is segregation and indeed racist. Stop letting our overlords separate us, especially kids. How is this happening?
@RealCoolstriker64

If your pride is so flimsy you need to separate yourself from anything different to maintain it, then it’s 1, Clearly not worth caring about And 2: Extremely toxic.

They sure won’t provide evidence yet, but they are working hard to bring them into being!

Rachel, will self segregation work to reduce those wrongs?

Segregation is institutional racism. All these supposed activists who pretend to be against institutional racism, want to bring it back.
