I could listen to this man talk about anything for hours. So knowledgeable. Excellent interview Erica! Even if it was basically 33 mins of Stephen rambling about wonderfully interesting things haha.
I could listen to Stephen Fry talk all day about this stuff. loved hearing his perspectives and really enjoyed hearing about his school days studying latin and greek. Thanks for making this happen Erica! xoxo
Wow, you got Fry on! I watched 'a bit of Fry and Laurie' when i was a kid and loved it. Loved every role he has played since. Later i came across his books and his debates and really got to appreciate his mind. What a great guy. He is high up on the list of people I'd love to have a long conversation with. How nice that you got to do this, for all of us. Thanks to you both!
I feel you! I was only able to take an introduction to the Classics at junior college. We studied the Odyssey, Aeneid, Lysistrata, Don Quixote, and Henry V. But Erica & her MoAnInc channel has been my Iliad study guide!
By the time I got to high school, only modern languages were available. My brother (6 years older) was able to take Latin. In college, when he needed to pick a major, he was able to pick Greek!
When I was at school (UK) in the 1970s, we read the Iliad. And wow did the teacher make the subject dry/boring. It was many years before I took an interest in Greek and Roman myths again.
You were expecting to see a bust of Plato or a replica of a parchment fragment containing the Odyssey in his den, but no, Stephen Fry has a Penn & Teller Fool Everyone Magic Kit prominently displayed and easily accessible on the top right shelf. What a human being! Congratulations for getting that experience, and for maintaining your composure, (or editing out the shakes so seamlessly). I wouldn’t have been able to stop gushing.
I am not sure where the right place is to put in a request or if you take them anymore but would LOVE to hear you take on Epicurus. Your videos are my fave and I know you would do him justice. Thanks for this video with Stephen Fry too! Wow! So glad to see your channel picking up steam. You've been putting in that WORK! 🎉👌🏽(Sorry if I missed a video if you already did Epicurus. I'll keep digging!)
As a Greek, I thank you very much for dealing with the coded and hidden universal wisdom of Greek mythology. Theogony, Psychogony, and Cosmogony are taught to those who have the ability to listen and learn. Bring on your shows wise men like your guest today who unlock for us this wisdom hidden by the wretched so-called theologians.
Great you got Stephen Fry on here. Just wish you had broken in a bit more with some more questions this felt a bit like a monologue sometimes. Had hoped you asked him about his 3 books a little.
Thank you! I understood in doing this interview that this was not my time to shine but Mr Fry’s, which is why I didn’t interrupt. It is also just my interview style that I don’t interrupt my guests - I want them to feel comfortable and open sharing what it is that they want. However, I was particularly relaxed with this interview (more so than I usually am) not being a deep dive into Mr Fry’s mythology books for a very good reason … 👀
In the video were you review the books by Stephen you mentioned how hyped you were to get an autograph from him. How awesome that you also got him on your channel! That must have been a dream :-D
I am thrilled that you got to interview the one and only Mr Fry. You totally deserve it! 🙌💎🎉 Thank you for being such a wonderful interviewer and allowing him to answer your questions in depth (the Oscar Wilde anecdote was pure gold ✨). I hope your paths cross again and we get to enjoy another future chat 💜
What a legend. I only started following your channel yesterday and you reward us with this fine treat. Like other comments I could listen to Stephen all day. Thanks for organising Erica
I taught myself Ancient Greek during the pandemic, I’ve been reading all the myths and histories now in the original. It’s an entirely different experience now! So fun!
You just lived a dream of so many of us: to just sit down and have a chit chat with Stephen Fry… and about Greek mythology no less. Lol. What a magical and lucky moment to have had. Thank you so much for sharing
@@MoAnInc Thank you! Stephen Fry is such a multi-talented person. Very rare can you switch between some of the deepest discussions you can have on language and history and then crack up with laughter watching him do "A bit of Fry & Laurie - F1 Driver".
