Wonder why they are not yet back in handhelds. They got everything to make a superb one. I suspect they dedicated all resources to PS5, but now they may get to handhelds again.
@@mshark2205 so as it seems, Sony is developing a “cloud” handheld that will apparently look and feel awesome, like a ps5 controller with a giant screen between it. It will supposedly just be meant for streaming your local ps5, with the potential for remote play anywhere you have very fast internet. Not my ideal comeback, but could be cool for when the TV is busy or you want to play in bed or something. **EDIT because the PlayStation Portal is now out**
@@dylanlee5342 which is exactly why we DO need a full review. A review isn’t only showing off the good, and if we have even more people reviewing it, we will be able to see what really is common, and what isn’t.
@@dylanlee5342 lmao like 2 reviewers said they got a stuck button for a moment over the span of a few weeks. Don’t blow it out of proportion, no device is without any flaws 🤣
Sony: Introducing the PlayStation Portal! A new handheld! Everyone: AWESOME! Also Sony: It can only be used online connected to your PS5 and can’t play any games on its own. Everyone: … this is ass
@@alexchavez4978I mean all I do with my phone is watch RU-vid, call, text, and take pictures and people pay $1000 dollars for a phone, but a probable handheld pc for 700 is pretty good
That’s the way I remember when I was 15 and wanted a bmx bike $1200 my parents couldn’t afford so I got a job at a pizza place and The day I picked up the bike I quit my job
Bought it. Doesn’t 100% meet my expectations. Pros -When I’m at work, I have restrictions on my office computer so I obviously can’t run games on it. So this is a great thing to have. -Gives you the ability to play literally ANY game you want to, whether it’s on steam, xbox game pass, battlenet, etc. -The joystick placement is pretty dang comfortable. -The buttons are sized well and feel great when you press them. -The stock charger that comes with the device will charge it up fairly quickly, although the battery life isn’t the greatest but that’s expected with this much power at its size. -Screen size. The screen is absolutely huge. It makes up for the entire size of my iPhone 14 pro max, and then some. It’s amazing. Not to mention the resolution. ASUS definitely knows what they’re doing, and I imagine in the future the will put out a better Ally and it will have an even higher refresh rate. There are few obvious pros that do not need to be listed. Cons -The stock joysticks suck in my opinion. I would definitely recommend you go ahead and install ds4/dsx or maybe just use native Bluetooth or even just plug your damn controller into this thing. I should mentioned when I say joysticks, I don’t mean the physical feel. I mean the input such as the dead zone. I tried tweaking it, it just isn’t good and there’s not much room for it to get better so just use your own controller. -The device runs a little hotter than I thought it would, even when using low settings on medium fps (60) it’s honestly expected, but it just feels like you’re frying your cpu. I imagine if you want to use this device full time, you’re going to need to replace it within a year or 2. -PlayStation plus application does not properly run. Maybe I just didn’t tweak the device enough, but certain games played through the cloud on PS plus just would not operate properly with the controls. The input was completely reversed for half of the games I tried. Maybe there’s a fix for this, but at the time I couldn’t find one. This was a deal breaker for me, and one of the main reasons I don’t use it anymore.
@@EyeForKnowledge.its not going to be dead at all within a year, I dont know why you say that. the ally had many different advantages over the deck. the most important one being the performance and storage. just look at a full review if you want to see all the advantages over the steam deck
@@EyeForKnowledge.i just think they play at different levels. This doesnt even have quick resume. It only makes sense if i want it to substitute my main laptop with windows 10.
I'm with you - no quick resume, no shader cache updates, AND no programmable trackpads/soft buttons so i can play ALL of my pc games? This device is for a very specific subset of gamers: Anyone who wants a more powerful, higher-res take on the Steam Deck, but with a streamlined, slimmer presentation, with familiar controls. The trade off is that it not only costs more, but also sacrifices nearly all of the accessibility options that make the Steam Deck so _uniquely_ enjoyable to use.
They are already talking about version 2 right now, so I would definitely wait. But if you can't, the current one is discounted right now. Just make sure to buy the extreme version.
Would you answer a question for me as I can't find the answer anywhere! I even went into my local Currys store and they couldn't answer. Can you play Xbox games that you own offline? I want this device for long haul flights or for when I'm away from home, and I'd like to have access to all my Xbox games.
@@BeardyBoy1996 you can play them all offline but the first time you open the game it will ask you to play online/ connected to some sort of internet just for the first time like you can literally connect to the internet and open the game and then disconnect from the internet close the game and then anytime after you can open it and play offline with no internet. It’s hard to explain but I hope this helps, I play on my break at work everyday with no internet so you’re definitely able to.
@@TheOrangeSunsetGaming I’m thinking about getting one as well mainly for its diversity and the fact that I miss cheat codes which is now replaced by mods which I would like to play with my single player games like kingdom hearts 2, but all that downloading code and all that just seems like a lot of head ache and confusing for somebody who haven’t been on pc in the last 7-8 yrs
@@Thawhid Pretty good so far, spent a little time updating it and getting windows set up. Downloaded diablo 4 and will be playing it tonight when I get off work 👍 Might have to invest in a power bank though because I've heard the battery life isn't the greatest from others who have reviewed it.
@@TriggerGingerhow’s it so far? What do you use to play the games? Steam? I’m trying to decide between steam deck and ally. While deck is cheaper, I could just pick an ally up at my local Best Buy and press play. Please give me advice lol
@@JohnGregoryGarza I would not recommend the ally. mine shut off and I cant get it to turn back on. customer support sends me to BestBuy about fixing it and best buy tells me to talk to asus. save yourself the headache and money and get a steam deck. I wish I did..
@@TriggerGinger the Best Buy near me offers full refunds. I play slot of mlb the show and you can’t play that on the deck because game pass doesn’t work without internet on the deck so I was hoping to get the rog…
Do you still love it? I may get one to have access to steam and gamepass now... I'm not really on those ecosystems at all. Just Nintendo and Sony at the moment...which is more than I have time to play lol
@@bjornironsides6474 I ended up returning it. I am on the same boat as you (Nintendo and Sony). Couldn’t really find the time to use it. Always found myself going back to my PS5.
@@Kingclehey, it was really nice for what it is but I ended up returning it. I always found myself gravitating more towards my PS5. I did use the ALLY while traveling and that was nice. Not sure the wife enjoyed it tho lol
Sticking to the Steam Deck until next gen of these handled PCs. In 6 months we will hear of a new device that integrates a new awesome chip. I also think that, in any case, it could be good to wait a little bit to see how Asus will handled aftersale. It took several months to the Deck to be really up and running.
@@dabberdaffy256 Indeed it's a never ending story, at some point you'll need to settle on one hardware or another. Main argument being mostly "do not rush on first gen hardware" to avoid initial bugs and have minimum feedbacks on how the device is supported.
Plus the Steam Deck has those touch pads and four rear buttons, which I’ve gotten really accustomed to using. The ROG might have more horsepower, but it would still feel like a downgrade to me.
I'd your son doesn't live with you. Your priorities are fucked up. Worried about a gaming handheld instead of your son growing up sad in a broken home because you want to chase 🐈 🐈⬛️ 😺 🐱
@@EyeForKnowledge. Ergonomics are off, overall operating system and control functions seems janky. It doesn't look and feel like a legit portable gaming system. Remember how back in the day people use to take apart PS 2's and stuff them inside portable DVD player casings to try and make them portable? This seems like that.
@@ejicon3099 Have you played a steam deck? Quality I think is much better than anything Sony made. The buttons are like butter. The software is a little clunky. True. But keep in mind it’s only been put a year and they are updating shit weekly. They’ll iron out everything. I have a feeling the Steam Deck will be the most important/sold handheld ever. Ergonomics? I guess that’s all subjective. I think they are perfect. I have big hands though. I agree with everything you say if we’re talking about the Asus. That thing is junk.
Virus protection? Don’t go browsing shady areas of the internet. I haven’t used an antivirus on my windows devices since windows 10 came on the scene. Windows defender is built in and does a fantastic job. I work in IT, and I can assure you people get viruses and malware from unsafe browsing habits. Viruses don’t just pop out of nowhere on your computer.
Got my preorder in, i have a deck and a original and oled switch. Want the ally for more demanding aaa games the deck struggles on and especially game pass. I think freesync is a game changer it will smooth gameplay out i think its range is 40-120hz. I know everyone is complaining about battery life but at 15 watts your getting about the same as the deck and i play my handhelds on a couch plugging it in isn’t a problem. And i think with every update it will get better and better im pretty pumped for it.
I preordered this but if your wanting it for a pc experience might as well get a laptop for $700..unless your like me and don’t care about money or really just want a hand held pc..
@@ariloiola These ally’s are cheaply built. They feel that way in the hand. Steam deck is the future. Asus is a cheap hardware manufacturer. Plus I’ve heard these things are buggy as hell.
I'm staying with my Steam Deck for now, Valve really supports the OS and haven't really seen great software support come out of Asus... especially lately lol.
@@genexis_ lol when the steam deck came out everyone and they momma wanted one now that a year later something with better hardware came out you call it copium so im assuming whenever a new graphics card, motherboard, monitor, etc comes out you get it 😂?

No need as Nintendo has 35 games, for the Switch, that has sold at least 1 million copies. They're printing money right now. If they were to make some games for other consoles / PC, they'd need some help printing money.
This is not Nintendo’s market their consumer base isn’t spending $600 for console they don’t need the most powerful console. Their consumer base wants something affordable and good gameplay they don’t care about the latest graphics power and specs
