At only a few inches long and with no distinguishing external physical features to speak of, Scutisorex somereni, better known as the Hero or Armoured Shrew, is seemingly an unremarkable creature. That is, until you accidentally step on one. You see, the Hero shrew can comfortably survive being stood on by a typical adult human without any injury.

@@athena8794 I know this joke is mostly a meme at this point (same as 'drink whatever comes out of that cow'), but it always bothers me. Eating eggs is actually an interesting feat of observation and testing over most likely centuries. Watching predators seek out eggs as nourishment, making the connection with nutritional value, testing and domesticating, teaching the knowledge that eggs are easy source of nourishment to new generations of hunters and gatherers, ... It's an impressive feat alltogether.

I feel like it's a missed opportunity the ironclad beetle would have been another fun thing to mention that's similar to the hero shrew. You could stomp on that thing for days and it'd be fine. It's shell is so hard it takes a drill to preserve them

Tardigrades are good at surviving harsh conditions, but they can't live in them. The difference? Surviving is being able to recover where living is moving about and being active. Ah the Field. Where they with impressive regularity (any at all, really) find undocumented species in their collections. Wonderful museum, recommend it to anyone who visits Chicago.... and any other museum you can find. There's a lot of world class ones here. Some are much lesser known (Like the Museum of Broadcast Communications!) but they are largely worth a visit. Oh, and the Museum of Science and Industry has a U-Boat, as well as a whole bunch of other really neat things.

If we come to find out that there is no life out there in the universe we should send tartigrade capsules to all the closest exoplanets to give life a chance across the universe (even if it isn't human life). Sure it'll take millions of years for tartigrades to evolve into sentient life, and most of the tartigrades wont survive on some of the planets but it could be worth a shot

It's funny, I just watched a video on the "Lawful Masses with Leonard French" RU-vid channel where he was discussing a lawsuit in which the creator of a video game called "Tardigrades" sued Star Trek over the inclusion of a giant space Tardigrade in their newest series. During the video, Leonard referenced your "Dennis the Menace" video (Along with a helpful link) to illustrate how 2 creators can create something similar with no infringement, and here you are doing a video that references (among other things) Tardigrades. :)

Tardigrades aren't nearly as impressive as they're made out to be. No tardigrade can do all of the things listed in the video, specific species of tardigrades have just evolved to survive extreme environments specific to them. As I just implied, tardigrade isn't a species, but rather a huge collection of them.
