I was wondering what that slide guitar was called -- Dobro! I like that. They just did a concert in Asheville NC - sold out! I met the Dobro player's dad. He was very proud - and should be!

I know this is 3 years late but I play dobro in a band out in colorado and I have watched this video like 200 times, everything Andy does in this song is literally perfect - his timing, intonation, note choice, everything, on the fills and then he does that solo which again is absolutely perfect I would not change a singe tiny thing about it. It's so mind blowingly aspirational. I love it and am once again returning to it after a gig high on music and watching fun dobro content, it's SO GOOD

I know I sound like a persnickety ol' curmudgeon, but the slide is actually a Dobro. Josh Graves practically invented it, Mike Auldridge and Jerry Douglas moved into uncharted territory, and there are lots of others, like Rob Ickes and Andy Hall (here) who show that the instrument's potential is still to be reached. Dobros rule! There are some fine players on RU-vid, and your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to track them all down. And play them loud!

WG Bader if we're going to be persnickety, dobro is actually a brand-name and it's a resophonic guitar, LOL. But everybody calls them dobros even know thats a brand-name.

Saw them at a small venue last month (March 2024) called The Stoughton Opera House here in WI. They were excellent and played Dylan's classic. Hope we get to see them again!

Yeah, they're like that. A good friend with extraordinary taste in music took me along to one of their shows, even though I had never heard of the group.
