Please watch: "The Hydra Avengers (Secret Empire Vol 1)" • The Hydra Avengers (Ma... ~-~~-~~~-~~-~ Twitter: / comicsexplained / comicsexplained --- Inhumans vs. X-Men is a 2016 comic book storyline by Marvel Comics.
This is where Marvel went wrong. They tried to replace the X-Men with the Inhumans, they didn't realize that globally, The X-Men was the pillar of Marvel. Not even Avengers or FF4 can compare in all honestly. If you think Marvel you think X-Men.
@@codafett Right! But back then everyone was checking for X-Men. Besides them really only Spiderman Hulk and maybe Captain America were the real popular ones
2 years later and I couldn’t disagree more, the face of Marvel is, without any question in anyone’s mind, the avengers. They carried the industry out of comics and into the general public eye and were some of the most successful films (and forms of media) to have ever been released. But X-men and Spider-Man easily take the cake as far as Marvel comics go, among the active readers that is.
WTFWhatTheFrak Amlak Nigus After he tried to attack Medusa and Black Bolt, It was self defence. None of this would have happened if Emma actually told the truth and didn't try to push her agenda.
Until they Retcon it (AND THEY WILL) unless Emma went inside both Medusa and Blackbolt's mind and told him to blast Scott they had free will they did it they chose to kill him Marvel will retcon this eventually because right now this story makes no goddamn sense it is clear that the Inhumans are the bad guys here the only reason why they are considered good guys is because Marvel said so. Let's face it I can say it's night out and it's midday and it's still day and that won't be the moon up there it will be the freaking sun
Screen Protector Black Bolt survived Vulcan and he’s capable of tanking a hit from the freaking Hulk, the strongest one there is, Cyclops’ laser eyes aren’t going to do shit to him, and he could’ve easily restrained Cyclops, he didn’t need to kill him. And Emma wouldn’t have pushed her agenda to begin with if the Inhumans didn’t unleash a Mutant killing cloud which caused Scott’s death. Emma is entirely justified in retaliating against the Inhumans.
This Pleases Me That analogy doesn’t make sense, Black Bolt IS the gun and he didn’t need to outright kill Scott, he could’ve just blasted him with or had Medusa capture him with her hair, there were many different solutions that didn’t include killing him. And he wasn’t framed as he technically DID kill the real Cyclops as it was the cloud THAT HE UNLEASHED that killed Cyclops so no he isn’t framed, he’s guilty of murdering Cyclops just not the way it looked but that still doesn’t make him less guilty.
Medusa threatening to kill a diamond Emma Frost? I laugh. What is she going to do, touch her with her hair? A celestial was needed to remove a piece of her diamond body. Emma would kill Medusa with no effort.
Well I mean plot armor makes anything possible lmao. I agree and during normal circumstances barring the intervention of ridiculous plot devices Emma would stop ol weaves MaGee
I used to love the Inhumans but now they are basically Nazis, they knew the mist would kill the mutants since what, 2015? Everyone just believed Medusa's "I didnt know" act, WTF? Dont even try to deny it, Cyclops told Blackbolt and Medusa he found a way to change the mists compound, so it can still change the Inhumans while non-toxic to mutants, and Blackbolt straight up murdered Cyclops for it (Blackbolt didn't know it was an illusion), and the writers are still trying so hard to make Emma the villain, the royal family killed the love of her life in so many senses, and they showed no remorse whatsoever, not to mention the mutant gas genocide, and they get the happy ending? And the entire Marvel hero community acts like Cyclops was the worst human being ever, who wrote those sh-t?
Well said, you're making the obvious point that anyone other than inhumans fanboys can see.Personally i don't see a conflict in this inhuman are straight up bad in these issues.
I'm not sure. Black Bolt is the one who said to let the mist spread and increase their ranks, but after killing Cyclops, he was ousted by Medusa and became the Queen and sole ruler, but just as that happened, the X-men attacked giving no chance for them to try to resolve the issue. The X-men were already subduing everyone, mostly the powerful ones whose words would sway the most, and from what I saw, the Inhumans have every right to defend their homes. I didn't see every panel Medusa was in, but the X-men don't let up until the mist is gone. I will say though, her returning to Black Bolt seems stupid and forced in of itself rather than just returning alone. I'm going to rewatch all the events if I can.
It certainly didn't help matters that it's been established since House of M that not only does terrigen kill mutants, but Medusa (and the rest of the royal family) explicitly know this.
Tony stark dude you are messing up the facts. When Medusa said she didnt know, she wasnt refering to the mist killing mutants she knew that already, one of the reasons she had Crystal follow the mist is so that they would scan the areas it went and save mutants before they could come in contact with it preventing any more deaths there was no genocide . What she didnt know was that it was bonding with the atmosphere and would make earth uninhabitable by mutants. Plus you are so wrong about cyclops(actually emma) because when they neutralized the first cloud it was useless to the inhumans thats why they tried to kill him.(notice how we never see the cloud again)
Really not happy with what they are doing with Emma. She spent so much time growing as a character and being a leader and then they reverted her to a villain over her ex boyfriend cyclops.
Lucky17thguy It's true but it also made sense for her character. everyone already did not trust her and saw her ad a basically a villain. Cyclops and the stepford sisters are all she had left. cyclops though was the only one that truly saw Emma as somthing more and even with everything between them still stuck with her. cyclops dying was her last real connection with her good side. with being a hero. with someone who loved her truly without all the bad thing she's done and didn't want to use her. while I don't wanna see Emma as a villain I was not mad about it. she let anger get the best of her. to bad she will probably drag the stepford sisters with her
would it make more sense seeing Jean or Beast turn into the new Magneto(the x men always need a "Magneto" by which I mean a bad guy who doing what they are doing for the good Mutants even though they are bad guys)
Lucky17thguy I've always seen Emma as an anti hero you know like Namor. She schemes a lot and acts according to what's in her best interest. Not quite a villain but she'll never be a hero and that is what makes her unique among all the other X-men.
Disagree Rob, Emma wasn't just the lover of Cyclops. They did a pretty good job of establishing their relationship and how it was different from the one with Jean, not to mention why Cyke was happier with Emma. As for Emma herself, she carved out a pretty awesome role as a really interesting team telepath, a former villain trying to change her ways, and someone that is really hard to get along with in a interpersonal way but is believable as someone with a good heart under it all.
I just really hope RessurXion brings the X-Men back to the forefront of Marvel. They're what got me into comics as a whole, and to see the way they've been treated makes me so sad.
This is why I'm so glad Jean & Xavier were replaced by Emma as the team's premiere telepath. She's both brilliant & ruthless, which makes for great stories. The newer X-movies were trying to make Mystique into the character which Emma is. I guess Rob's never heard of Generation X, where Emma was co-leader w/ Banshee.
+HexBug 97 exactly. I posted the same thing a while back. Marvel realizes that despite the power of phoenix, Jean is boring. Whereas Emma has always been an interesting character (even more so that she's a reformed villain)
3:29 The inhumans are bad guys You only need to read this comic to know that the inhumans were indeed the bad guys. Nobody smiles inside a battleship while watching a poison cloud creep up to a populated city
After the house of M, they have systematically taken out the mutants. Removed them and replaced them with the Inhumans. Obviously popular characters will survive (deadpool), but honestly the mutants were screwed over, hard.
Side note: Rob you always say Cyclops became a bad guy like Magneto but if I recall correctly Cyclops was not really doing anything inherently bad. Yeah he had disagreements with Wolverine and he did kill Professor X while under the influence of the Phoenix Force but honestly Cyclops and his team was CONSTANTLY being fucked with from outside forces to the point that Cyclops felt that it was time for X-Men to go on the offensive as it related to mutants instead of waiting for conflict to keep coming to them. He was a good leader to students he recruited. Wasn't he the one to treat Matthew Malloy like human where Xavier and Magneto sought to manipulate him? I don't man, Cyclops gets a bad wrap but I feel like a lot of it is unjust. Am I missing something?
Nuri Durr oh BTW when jean grey was possessed by the phoenix force and KILLED AN ENTIRE STAR SYSTEM they shook it off and hold the phoenix accountable but when cyclops was possessed by the phoenix force (if Tony stark didn't have the urge to shatter it )They hold him accountable
Yes although after he no longer had the phoenix force he was still trying to recruit younger and new muntants which he was willing to destroy entire city blocks to do so. This is also the same event where he meets his younger self as he was destroying the block
I miss cyclops already man and Why have the X-Men become the punching bag of marvel just constantly getting dealt a bad hand. im surprised most of them still have the will to live?
Think they were doin this because fox owned the rights and mcu wanted the focus to b on there cast now they have xmen I c big things happening for the xmen it better I was neva a fan of anyone in mcu only spiderman I know Sony own him but e is in mcu xmen we're the only other marvel creations I followed my list goes from both dc and marvel is batman my fav spiderman V close second and xmen nxt wolverine been my fav and d badass but good cyclops the 90s cartoon one was badass
this entire story arc was...interesting. The art was great, but the story itself was...flawed, for lack of a better word. There are several reasons why, ultimately, I personally feel this story was unnecessary, as it did nothing to really propell the X-Men or the Inhumans further. Here are a few examples of why I feel this way: 1. the Teregen Mist has never been dangerous to mutants in the past, & had even been used to activate the X gene in mutants. Now its suddenly lethal, with no explanation why. 2. when Black Bolt detinated the Teregen bomb to stop Thanos, it created a singular Teregen cloud. Now, suddenly, there are 3 clouds. Again, there is no explanation as to how or why this happened. 3. the Inhumans' argument for not trying to stop the Teregen cloud is that its the only way to further the expansion of their species. And since Black Bolt detonated the Teregen bomb, the cloud represents the last of the Teregen crystals. But we've been shown in the past that there are several other Inhuman communities on Earth that each have their own Teregen crystals. Why this isn't pointed out is never explained. 4. lastly, near the beginning of the conflict, when the X-Men are debating how to handle things, Old Man Logan suggests "talking" to the Inhumans about it, & finding a way to stop the Teregen cloud together. While his suggestion is ultimately ignored, opting to fight the Inhumans instead, at the end of the series, Medussa asks why did the X-Men not just talk to them. She's says she would have listened, & they could have found a solution together. All these things combined bring the story full circle, with both the X-Men & the Inhumans in basically the same positions they were in at the beginning of the series, save the dead of Scott Summers & Jamie Maddrox (though I seriously doubt that was the original Jamie Maddrox, since his dupes have been known to think they are the original...which I hope is the case).
HexBug 97 yes. When one of his dupes returned from Bishop's future, he had the "M" tattoo on his face. When the original Maddrox re-absorbed him, he retained that tattoo & was unable to remove it. Further, any dupes who were not re-absorbed at that time did not gave the tattoo.
Maverick Opinions I think all of these things were dumb crap that this event was trying to clean up. The situation of the X-men and Inhumans for... a year now? has been based on these stupid, stupid ideas and I applaude that at least now we can move on from the Terrigen Mist bullshit and into some better stories.
lareymac not sure I understand what you mean by "where" he was. It was his visions that Carol embraced as being 100% truth, despite the fact that it was proven that he sees "possible" futures, that can even been from alternate timelines. In the end, he evolved into a higher being, met Eternity, & became one with the universe. However, I did see something at my local comic shop that said Marvel is planning a Ulysses prequel book...
I don't get this at all. In Son of M Terrigen Crystals would just give mutants a weird variation of their powers and now it kills them? There is no consistency in Marvel Editorial.
Seeing how it was Blackbolt who caused the terrigen mist that killed Cyclops. Would it be really wrong be to say Blackbolt killed Cyclops? And didn't Blackbolt try to kill Cyclops? Yeah, that Cyclops was Emma's illusion, but Blackbolt wasn't an illusion, was he?
Did not like this story. Reason #1 The Inhumans already freaking knew that the terrigen mist was toxic to mutants. How do they ignore this very plain and obvious fact? Beast was trying to work on a cure for it with the help of the Inhumans and Crystal was going around trying to move mutants away from the cloud... Reason#2 The Inhumans killed Cyclops over destroying the first cloud. So we later learned that Cyclops wasn't really there but was an illusion, but everyone thought it was him. Even Blackbolt and Medusa. So if it were really Cyclops, he would have died. The Inhumans were basically saying "fuck you" to mutants. The Inhuman cloud is more important than mutants lives. Which is bonkers for a number of reasons. For one unlocking your inhuman powers is a choice. By releasing the terrigen cloud the Inhumans are removing the choice for people to live normal lives if there were Inhumans without knowing it. Secondly, the destruction of the inhuman cloud kills no one, Inhumans included. The comparisons of Cyclops to Hitler were....like wtf? Medusa knew that the terrigen cloud was killing mutants and only changed her mind about when a bunch of the young inhumans spoke against it. Medusa is a bitch. I think Emma Frost is right to want to eradicate her and Black Bolt. She should not go after all of the Inhumans though...
the ending of Inhumans vs X-MEN sucked. Two of my favorite X-MEN had to die in death of X so that garbage story could happen. why did terrigen start killing mutants in the first place, it never did before.
So, the *Young X-Men that came from the past* just decided to abandon their timeline lives and loved ones and live in the current timeline? -Am I right?-
Ι haven't watched the movies, but I am really curious about the comics... like, I am away from reading for about 4 years, I come back and I am like "Wha' d'fuk, bruv?"
true. that's why I don't get the hate for the movie timeline, you would have thought that X-Men readers would be used to inconsistency of timelines like in the comics by now. alternate universes, branching timelines, divergent realities, etc. the Fox movies pretty much nailed the the conflicting and confusing state of the X-Men comics XD
Akash, if you are talking to me, Ι didn't complain, Ι actually like many things that are currently happening but yeah I am confused about all the things that happened so fast. Also, I am not the one to fix it, since i am not a writer and it's not my job.
I'm still trying to figure out why Cyclops is the Mutant Hitler, he did not kill any Inhumans, mutants, or humans he saved Mutant and human lives from the Terrigen cloud. yes in the Uncanny Inhumans book terrigen kills some humans that had inhuman DNA but couldn't survive the tranfermaton.
Marvel tried to demonize Cyclops since AvX but readers only appreciated Cyclops more and more Furthermore, IvX was just a big joke to try to remove the X-Men and replace them with the Inhumans Which didn't work out as the X-Men comics are the most popular in the entire Marvel franchise, and the Inhumans show was a complete mess
This was awesome! I'm not an avid comic book buyer, so much of what I know comes from your channel and similar channels. I'm an avid die-hard ride or die X-Men fan (sinces the 90s cartoon) & I was so scared this would be some heavy handed Marvel overhaul to further dismantle the X-Men title & make the Inhumans their relevancy replacements (because the movie rights are with Fox) but even though its not perfect, I really enjoyed the story. Looking forward to more of your vids!
Kenichi Shirahama being in my late 30s , at the time , spidey had seen some dark stories, allready having to deal with the death of Gwen Stacy via Green Goblin ,BUT he was being commercialised and heavy branded for toys and such as the fun, quippy , safe character he is. And thats cool because shit, thats who he is lol. So i msy be sketchy on the details because i do not own this comic but Kraven devises a master plan to kill Spidey. Hits him with some dope. Spidey wakes up in a cage or cell with a half rat half human guy named Vermin. Vermin completely rips Spidey to shreds .And as hes just about to go in for the kill ,Kraven has a change of heart and saves Spidey. Think he shoots Vermin and he runs off scared or some shit. Gives Spidey a heartfelt apology, gets dressed up in a suit, hops in a coffin, looks at a flic of his wife, then blows his own head off with the shotti. Thee significance, lol, im sayin, we're commin off of SpiderMan and his amazing friends! lol! i had spidey toys around this time of things, maybe even underoos lol! And Spidey , i do beleive, gives us the first suicide commited by a major villain?
You hit my thoughts right on the head. We get so many of these 'events' and 'hero vs. hero' battles that no one thinks that perhaps these are just self serving stories that editorial thought would generate book sales without thinking that 'hey, we just finished one cataclysmic event arc, let's rest and give folks time to recover before starting the next one' and just throwing this mess of a saga out there. I would like to declare a moratorium on any more 'events' for a while. I'd like to be able to read and finish some of the story arcs that are already out there without these 'events' eating up my time and patience.
Volume 5 was dumb. The reason why they're fighting was because Medusa didn't know the mist was killing d mutants and that the mutants didn't have time to negotiate despite that broadcast of cyclops against the inhumans, the first encounter of fake cyclops and blackbolt and the fact that beast was working for quite some time with the inhumans to study and nullify the mist. WTF marvel! This was obviously an inhumans story just like avngers vs x-men and axis were the x-men were also arguably the greater evil
gluteusMAXlMUS The thing is the clouds were killing people for more than a year so now the full its going to before part of the atmosphere is what caused them to want to take out the clouds...
Magneto when I said that I mean the entire universe. It needs one because other than the x-men in this story, black spiderman, unworthy thor, x-23 wolverine, old man logan and infamous iron (doc doom) good stories are hard to come by. Everything else is either boring or stupid.
Reuben Watson You're forgetting Doctor Strange, Vision, and Moon Knight. The latter two are some of the best I've *ever* read, truly unique stories that transcend the boundaries of the genre.
Jesus Christ!!!! BlackBolt can create force fields, Marvel. He hates using his voice because it turns people in to puddles. He would have sooner punched a hole in someone than speak. In a weakened state he has stood up to Thanos one on one, fought and beaten Gladiator and Gabe Summers and now he gets taken out by Dazzler???? Fucking Dazzler!!!! What the Flippity Fuck!!!!
SlothGiraffe At the end she left johnny and told him thanks for everything. She then went back to Black bolt in the club. Even in the last battle it was her threatening to kill havoc if he hurt/killed BB and him flying her towards Emma, whilst everyone (Well some) called it beautiful. From that I think there's a big chance they're back together. They were just separated not divorced and I think I read somewhere they were both going have a comic about them going of world seeing as they have no responsibilities anymore. I'm not even sure why they broke up, just that they did.
your stuffs comes in handy when I'm at work in the car or just on acid, really any situation where u can hold a comic book but mostly just while I'm on lsd tripping nuts good looks hommie keep it up. I like how u will go into detail about the little things, gets me thinking
hmmm. They seem muchmuch bigger here to me. In the last panel with BB that is. I am glad she is back with Black Bolt, the Johny x Medusa...shit was terrible.
It just didnt work at all...add the fact that Johny dated Crystal back then and the relationship is one of the worst I have ever seen.... The Medusa x BB dynamic is just too good, he isnt able to speak, she speaks for him etcetc.
I'm cool with you giving more of your opinions on stuff, @Comics Explained. Unlike most of us, you're an expert on the topic. Learning what people who know what the hell they are talking about think about something is valuable to the rest of us. I don't expect you to give broad proclamations like "this is bad and anyone who likes it is dumb" but learning about the tastes you've developed from years of looking as this in depth can help the rest of us.
Emma, Magneto, Cyclops, Storm, Kitty, and all the mutants in general have been acting incoherent since avengers vs x-men. They are a mess. I hope they return to their original motivation.
are those pistols the exact same ones from gears of war???? the one phantom x is dual wielding I swear they were in gears of war as a default secondary fire arm!!!!!! gorgon pistol or something
Marvel makes convoluted storylines in their comics, pitting heroes against heroes because of some "Minor" problems that only cooler heads who could talk possible resolutions. Take AvX for example, the Avengers were too stupid to think that the X-Men would easily be intimidated when they attacked Utopia. They could have just called Scott Summers via telephony and explained the situation instead. Prof. X should have been alived today if this happened. Then the Death of X came along, killing the main leader,Cyclops.Such a sad death for someone who is battle-hardened and, yet, he did not die not in battle but thru the terrigen mist.
hey rob im a huge fan and listen to your channel on a regular basis. my favorite playliat is the infinity gaunlet series and was saddened to see it cut short. i have a question and would like your expertise: for a comic book fan looking to keep up with the updated marvel universe, what comics would you recommend?
Christ Marvel i get it you want to get rid of the X-Men and replace them with the Inhumans cause you want to give the finger to Sony but there are better ways of doing it, i mean for example you could of have the X-Men fight a glorious last stand to the bitter end against foes that want to kill both Mutants and Humans while buying time for the Inhumans and/or the Avengers to get everyone out of there but nooowe have to have what can be sum up as Marvel Civil War 2.5 Electrical Mutant Bogaloo...
Mr Rob your presentation of this storyline was excellent my friend and with that being said the story itself is so....... ( for lack of a better word) ugh! lol
If only there were an all powerful mutant that could control the weather and just round up and condense the mist... Such shitty writing ever since Disney took over.
Remember when we had X-Men in the 90s and didn't have to have inhumans forced on us? Cause I do and the whole inhuman thing is hella forced. At this point Kamala is the only widely liked inhuman and she spends no time with the royal family which is what 90% of inhumans is about. So basically their most popular inhumans has 0 to do with the actual inhumans :/ Just give us classic x-men back and put the inhumans back on the moon.
I actually love the ending. brings a lot of different dynamics. I've is that there won't be new Inhumans . so that will be interesting. Also Human Torch can reunite the Fantastic Four. and with X-Men blue and gold harkens back to the two teams when the X-Men was the books to read in the 90s. along with Emma as an insane telepathy along with Havoc who to my knowledge is still inverted from Axis. I'm finally exxited to read X-Men again
muss Did you not read at least some of the story, rake they out of the picture to then get rid of the clouds that's what they tried at right before the Inhumans escaped again
Forge created a device to destroy the cloud. Emma didn't want to kill the Inhumans (atleast in her beginning part of the plan). She just wanted to take them out of the picture so Forge could destroy the cloud, but the young Inhumans stopped Forge from doing that.
muss people saying some of the inhumans should be killed is basically the only single area in which any of the X-men were in the wrong in this story. The only ones for whom an argument could be made for execution were Black Bolt and Medusa for plotting and attempting to murder Cyclops and for knowingly allowing the Terrigen mists to kill unwitting innocent mutants for selfish gain.
Love the vid and I agree with what you said, being that Marvel is getting boring because they're creating these perpetual "civil war-esque" storylines that really don't do anything. The reason why is because there are no real stakes. The reader knows they're not going to kill each other, save one character or two, whose death they'll milk for the rest of the series. In Civil War it was Goliath and in Civil War 2 it was Hulk, and in Death of X/X-Men Vs Inhumans it's Cyclops. These stories are getting boring because they're trying to replicate the sales Mark Millar's Civil War initially brought when it first came out. But that was a decade ago and from then to now we've had a few of them, and even films too. From an actual Civil War adaptation to a Batman V Superman film. So in a way I feel that there is a legitimate superhero vs superhero fatigue. The only reason why Mark Millar's Civil War was as successful and shocking as it was is because nothing like that had been done before at that spectacle. Now it's a plot point that's been reused so many times it's tiring and almost lazy.
I still cant get past how stupid the premiss of the conflict was. I mean are there really no mutants/inhumans that have the capability to contain a friggin CLOUD? I would think storm alone could isolate the mist and make becoming an inhuman more of a voluntary selection process instead of going with "f it likes just let which way the wind blows decided for people if they want to potentially be turned into a giant living teleportation gate. Oh and if it also creates a mutant genocide i guess that's tough luck"
Hey can this be added to a playlist. I'm going through all of the xmen content atm and there are a few videos that have not been added to the X-Men playlist. Great content btw
Yea not that good of a story but it provided for x-men to fluctuate into 7 different titles so it did the job! great video Rob, not to great story Lol. SUGGESTION: possibly cover the current DareDevil run leading into "Running with the Devil" story from kingpin and elektra
And yet again Hank betrays the X-Men but hey, who cares. It's not like there's consequences in the marvel comic universe. Who know, since the Inhumans nearly committed genocide maybe they'll become Avengers.
Hey Robbie, this was super cool but... I noticed at the end of this video, just like you do in all of your other videos, you said, "Piece!" May I ask, What do you mean? A Piece of Pie? A Piece of Cake? A Piece of What? Could you please elaborate? Thanks. :D
Lol if White Phoenix wasn't written off the comics, she would bring all the mutants back and one shot every god damn useless inhuman. The worst story marvel has done along with secret wars 2!
I came in as an X men fan but I genuinely became more interested in the Inhumans after reading this event. Especially with regards to the Uncanny inhumans tie ins for this serious exploring Maximus and his quest to forge new Terrigen Crystals(which I am really looking forword to seeing cause we do not know what these crystals will be capable of)
