ATGames was also called Blaze at some regions but it is just same crap with different logo. The games usually work OK but sound is horrible. I have one AtGames Sega console that has built-in games and a catridge slot for playing Mega Drive / Genesis games. But the sound quality is so horrible that I don't use it.
Tbh I'd be interested in seeing a modern version of... not exactly World War Blue but something similar to it with something based on how the video game industry right now. With how many companies these days are making micro transactions more prominent in games, I could see the villain being some sort of overly greedy organization charging people for every tiny little thing they do or something. Not to mention with Indie Games becoming alot more popular in recent years, that would make for a perfect underdog protagonist!
There is a video game series based on the Seventh generation console war, called Hyperdimension Neptunia. The games take place in the world of Gamindustri (game industry). You play as a girl named Neptune (based on the cancelled Sega Neptune) and must convince the leaders of Lastation (PlayStation 3), Lowee (Wii), and Leanbox (Xbox 360) to set aside their differences and work together to stop -video game piracy- I mean, the villain Arfoire (based on R4 cartridges)
The Genocide City in the actual Simon Wai proto is an empty stage. You showed a fan version from a hack. I love your videos but they're peppered with these tiny details that show a lack of research.
I was just about to mention this. I'm pretty sure wood zone and hidden palace are full stages in that ROM hack. So it seems like he is referencing the actual beta and a ROM hack as if they're one game.
Bootleggers sometimes take rom hacks and put them onto physical cartridges, his channel is mostly about just about bootlegs, he doesn't often go into details.
@@quantumchronos1889 that ROM hack is actually inaccurate too. It was made a LOOOONG time ago before we had the info we have now. what actually ended up happening was Genocide City Zone was eventually renamed "Cyber City" and then scrapped. The level layout was then used to make Metropolis Zone Act 3, using the Metropolis zone Tileset instead.
From the anime, the character "Miyamoto" you're identifying as Marth...his outfit looks a lot more like Erdrick from the Dragon Quest series, one of the most iconic playable characters of the RPG genre.
It's definitely from Fire Emblem, I'm aware of that much. This includes Ramses, which is from Columns, and Tejirov, which is from tetris. Honestly wish more of it got finished, I think that if they stuck with a comedy aspect over ecchi/H, it would've done much better.
I was gonna comment about that but looked to see if anyone else mentioned it first. I wasn't sure if that was actually what the book said or if he accidentally said the wrong number. Quite the conundrum...
Fun fact, the AtGames consoles were all officially licensed. The Genesis Mini was originally meant to also be done by AtGames. However Sega saw the quality and said forget it bud, we'll just do it ourselves.
Honestly, if World War Blue had kept going, I genuinely do think I wouldve watched the whole thing, it just seems like a really fun concept and honestly at this point, other anime like Kill la Kill have just made me immune to nudity. Also, Link saying ''It's dangeroud to go alone, take THIS!'' goes soooo hard
18:00 this game actually looks a lot like a predecessor to Freedom Planet. Also the moveset of Sonic/Sparkster is pretty much the same as Lilac the Dragon.
0:44 13:35 15:46 *Actually, it’s just an empty void. Originally, Genocide City was going to be a zone with one act, but was cut and repurposed for act 3 of Metropolis Zone. If it would’ve been in the game, it would’ve been called Cyber City Zone. And Hidden Palace Zone was originally going to be a level that Sonic would be teleported to after getting all of the Chaos Emeralds, and you would’ve had to beat the level to unlock Super Sonic. And Wood Zone was going to be the present version of Casino Night Zone. Apparently, time travel would’ve been in the game, leading to a ton of more zones that were planned to be in the game, but the time travel mechanic ended up being scrapped.* 18:00 *Sonic commits mass genocide in “Sparkster”* 19:22 *Sonic rescues Mario(s) from the Virtual Boy realm* 20:17 *The Rescue of the First Hostage* 20:53 *F u c k* 38:50 *Yeah, it sucks. I t s u c k s M r . B a l l s !*
Sonic 7 and Sonic Blast (Bootleg) literally shaped my childhood. I was REALLY into bootlegs when I was a child. It's fun to see a bunch of Chinese or Taiwanese devs take a game and completely change it into something it isn't. When I hear that absolutely EAR WRENCHING screeching of that Sonic Blast intro, I hear my literal childhood flashing in front of me.
Also, you got some stuff wrong. Genocide City, the obvious, in the Prototype is just a blue background with stripes of Emerald Hill grass lining each row. Not only that, the Genocide City Zone you showed wasn't even the one that was going to BE in Sonic 2. Genocide City (Or Cyber City) was simply a purple version on Metropolis Zone (See, The Machine from Sonic Spinball, which actually uses the old pallette from Cyber City)
I remember playing that Sonic game for SNES when I had a computer disk that housed an SNES emulator and had a SHIT ton of roms. I didn't know it was a bootleg
World War Blue is, sadly, an example of an awesome concept which fails to live up to its potential in execution, at least as far as the anime goes. Plus, Hyperdimension Neptunia is more-or-less the same concept done right.
In that Fighter Sonic bootleg you need to press Up and the Jump button at the same time to jump higher. Also another tip, Mashing B will allow you not only shoot projectiles but also stay in the air while shooting the projectiles, doing this trick helps you advance in the levels pretty easily in the game especially the cloud platform section in the first level that a lot of people have/had trouble with.
Atgames actually had permission to make these. There home console variant is infamous for having terrible sound and having a bunch of super simple random games thrown in. They feel very bootleg. That's why when the Sega Genesis Mini was coming out people were excited that Sega were not using Atgames anymore. Whatever listing you bought it from was just weird.
That anime reminds me of the Hyperdimension Neptunia series (which I absolutely love and am a huge fan of 😊💜🖤). Every single game is basically about Sega, Nintendo and Microsoft battling against each other. Only represented by anime girls. Lol. 🤣 I love it!
@@implord4197 maybe to you. I love every game in the franchise ☺️💜🖤💜🖤💜 they're absolutely great! And obviously so if they're still making them year after year!
You inspired me to try Sparkster because i had never heard of it and I gotta say, its pretty darn awesome! I can't believe I missed it as a child, It's great! Thank you
If you like the video game parody idea, try neptunia. It's a game series about personifications of game consoles warring against each other. It's also super lewd and fan service heavy, so not sure how you'd feel about that 😅.
I'd actually would love to play a Sonic bootleg where Sonic rides Yoshi. And anyone else noticed the moon between clouds in the genocide zone is an evil eye? But Sonic bootlegs? That's no good
AFAIK there's a Super Mario World hack that puts Sonic in SMW and you can ride Yoshi. Not sure if it's a simple sprite hack or if it changes levels but I know it exists.
Yeah that Genocide City footage was a straight up lie. It's from a fanmade hack. The actual prototype has nothing, just scrambled graphics and instant death
The anime could have centered around the two countries and their respective heroes. Also shown that neither are pure evil or walking with Angels, spark up a debate about which side you are on (maybe have it where both sides eventually fight against the playstation nation.
Genocide City Zone in the video is actually a re-imagining from a ROM hack. In reality, Genocide City Zone (also known as Cyber City Zone) is a Sonic level involving a zone that is more mechanized and advanced, which takes place after Metropolis Zone. Eventually, it was replaced with Metropolis Zone Act 3, making it the only Zone with an act 3 in Sonic 2. Genocide City Zone is scrapped early in development because it's just an empty void that uses Emerald Hill Zone's color palette and Chemical Plant Zone's music. It appeared in the Simon Wai prototype and August 21st, 1992 prototype.
3:55 Dude, have you not played Sonic Battle for the Game Boy Advance, or even Frontiers? Or at least watched a few minutes of gameplay on RU-vid? Sonic has that very same attack in some form in both games.
World War Blue sounds like it could have been really fun show, if it hadn't decided to to waste it's 3 episodes on soft core henti. Haveing 3rd Party chrwcters be like mercenaries or something, actually haveing the representions of Sega and Nintendo chracters right with wild powers based on who they embody. The two Kindgoms fighting, Segua almoat wining the war before the kingdom dissolves, the Dreamcast getting the Battle Ship Yamato treatment (the super weapon that would have won the war had it arrived sooner, bit comeing around when the way battles where fought changed) and Nintedula has to go on to fight some invaders from kingdoms based on Sony and Microsoft. Gear ending up becomeing a mercenary who reluctantly works with Marcus more often than not. I do wonder if the Manga is like that, or if it's pure Sega good/Nintendo bad jokes with random nudity.
Me and a friend accidentally Stumbled into this bootleg when we were looking for A Sonic 4: Ep 1 rom. We both thought it was probably one of the weirdest things in gaming we'd ever seen. We got it off his emulator and deleted the rom of his phone, so I'm pretty surprised about seeing this game bootleg again.
Honestly world war blue sounds like a cool concept for a show so i'd totally watch it if it were an actual series, and even then, i might watch the 3 episodes they have at some point -also they made Link hot oh boy-
what kind of sonic 2 simon wai build do you got?? The actual Genocide City in the sonic 2 simon wai build is a blue void that you fall to your death in
I think there actually is a creepy pasta game based on the Speedy Gonzalez reskin game. I remember being into Angry German kid videos as a teenager and watched a video with that game.
@@gobineko8121 It's an officially licensed counterfeit (which is a double-whammy and not an oxymoron). Of course, calling any Sega Genesis wannabe made by AtGames a bootleg console would be unfair to the Soulja Boy Buyee.
0:11 Who didn't say/think "I could've done better than that!" concerning Sonic the Hedgehog at this point though? I doubt these games will be anything else than about 40 minutes of "Why?" on repeat though.
If the color palette sucks in the regular Game Boy games you can easily switch it by holding diferent buttons when turning Game Boy Color on. Probably the emulators also have option to change the color palette.
35:41 At games the only bootleg company my family can trust (With the only thing they screw up is the audio quality) also I own one of their sega genesis with a haunted cartridge that we bought off the internet in a betting war
it’s just an empty void. Originally, Genocide City was going to be a zone with one act, but was cut and repurposed for act 3 of Metropolis Zone. If it would’ve been in the game, it would’ve been called Cyber City Zone
35:37 wtf ? Atgames is a legit American company that got license from Sega . If a Bootleg was made in America, a person would get birdy cage time , creator of (power joy plug in play), whatever it's called , got 5 years in prison
The Sonyc demo only looks good because it's a total asset rip with a desaturated colour pallet from the Master System and Game Gear version of Sonic the Hedgehog. Most of the other games (like sonic adventure 7 and 8) are also GG asset rips, notably Sonic Triple Trouble, but turned into gawdawful pallets thanks to the gbc's limited capabilities.
It is important to recognize that releasing an unlicensed cartridge which is compatible with Nintendo or SEGA or other consoles is legal. Color Dreams / Wisdom Tree carts are all legal, just unlicensed by Nintendo. The only illegal part would be using trademarked characters or copyrighted code like these bootlegs typically do. But patents do not prevent unlicensed cartridges from being entirely legal as long as you don't copy code or use trademarked characters or other actual game content you don't have the rights to. What I said above is only the case insofar as laws in general actually mean anything, which is debatable.
I thought that the character representing link was representing cloud from final fantasy, but I guess he wasn't included as Sony also had final fantasy game, and the creators didn't want to put Sony into this already character pact(if you can call it that) story.
With that AT Games genesis, I have the same system lol. You mentioned an sd cart slot that allows you to put any amount of games you want on it... So I tried this and to no surprise, half the games I put on it didn't work lol. So its not really endless
