If you want to sleep like military guys do, just stay awake for 3 days straight while carrying 80 pounds of gear the whole time. The moment you sit down you’ll sleep like a baby
It works anywhere too! A ditch! A foxhole! A building that’s 100 degrees, at night! The back of a truck! Even on the firing range! No pillow? No problem! Transform any hard surface into feathers! Your helmet? A nice rock? More like memory foam! Enlist today!
Controlled breathing is my way to go. I just breath in while counting to 5, hold it while counting to 5, breath out while counting to 5. Takes a few minutes and I am asleep. I learned this as a teenager and it works fine.
If you say 'dont think' your mind will ALWAYS think. What you resist will persist- rule of the mind - just relax, and keep allowing thoughts to flow while OBSERVING THEM (without judging them too much)- you'll fall asleep.
Been trying that and realized, bullshit. Easiest way to relax better would be to think about things you can feel or kinda hear. Like focusing on your breath, tension of your muscles or the feeling of the pillow.
Yeah the trick is to focus on senses instead of thoughts. You have to pay attention to something, so you pay attention to something other than your thoughts and your brain shuts up. If you're not paying attention to anything in particular, your brain gives you stuff to think about. I like to use my peripheral vision. I look at something across the room and try to see what's in my peripheral vision. I try to map out what's surrounding the thing I'm looking at without moving my eyes. My brain shuts up immediately. You can also use your breathing, or what you can currently hear, or anything in particular. It's a very useful skill to be able to purposefully direct your attention.
Yeah if I do that my mind will be playing 3 songs at the same time and go through all funny, embarrassing and sad moments of my life then come up with a fake scenario with some mind blowing drama
@@robingruling5560after listening to it again all the parts are technically in there but I was told to picture myself laying in a black velvet hammock in a pitch black room while telling myself " don't think" over and over
@@topfirechannel4718 no its like u know u are dreaming but when try to wake up u can't. Kinda like the inception movie, I had dreams like this it's hard to wake up from it
@@karthiiraja17 you can wake up from a lucid dream though, just get a lil bit too excited and try to make love and that will wake you up, also try to sleep while in a lucid dream, that also helps
This is actually an awesome method, I have horrible insomnia due to anxiety so this helped me LOTS! My insomnia made me sleep maybe 6-7 hours, with little to no extra rest during the day.. Thank you so so much for sharing this
Me: Don't think don't think don't think... ADHD brain: What's the difference between a Clementine and a Mandarin orange? Me: Well, I guess I didn't need any sleep tonight.
Ahh yes I remember falling asleep in under two minutes back in my usmc days. But I also remember being so incredibly exhausted, I could feel each cell in my body throbbing and then I closed my eyes and that was that lol
EASIEST WAY: Be awake till 5am, lay on the bed and the moment you wake up, it will already be 3pm. It always works and i would recommend this to everyone😊🤗
@@whybhavi I don't want to have it. When I went to get a check up the Doctors said, that I need less time on screens (phones, monitors and else) and sleep more, so that I don't end up in a situation where I have it.
Step 1: relax ur muscle. Done Step 2: visual something peacefull. "Im lying in a boat on the lake", done Step 3: stop thinking. "Im fighting a giant monster in that lake with flame sword"
I had sleeping troubles for 2 years and I don't know when it changed... But I started to feel really tired due to that sleep issue, and I learned to fall asleep in daylight with such a light sleep, I could feel refreshed and still react as soon as I heard the topic change. I could even remember full school lessons. And now I can fall asleep in any lighting, any noise, with any movement. I could sleep within a minute or two wherever I want 🤷♀️
I’ve done that don’t think stuff so many times it works when you need it, and if ur really good at keeping ur eyes closed then you’ll definitely fall asleep. But the best feeling ever is after work shower then bed it’s just heavenly
One day a week I need to go to sleep like 7 hours earlier than normal and that’s my biggest obstacle. If I lay there with my eyes closed my mind wanders which makes me put on a show or some RU-vid or whatever for some background noise and then I get invested in the show or video lol I was tempted to try that lettuce thing or just straight up get some drugs but I’ll give this a shot first
@@Fetidaf Instead of watching a show or RU-vid it's better to listen to calming music or nature sounds like rainfall. My favorite night sound is a train rolling by in the distance probably because it reminds me of being at my grandparents home in the summer when I was a kid. Anyway, find that relaxing sound and you will get to sleep.
@@annarodriguez9868 I’ve tried the traditional “relaxing” sounds and it’s no better than silence imo, my brain just drowns them out and my mind wanders… maybe I need to find my own thing. I’m a truck driver and got used to the engine running so maybe I’ll try to find a “semi idling for 10 hours” or something like that lol
How to fall asleep my method: Step 1:Have someone wake you up in the morning. Step 2:Wake up. Step 3:Lay down. Step 4:Snooze away. Step 5:Achievement unlocked: Sleep in like 2 seconds.
I wish it was that easy for me. Some of us have problems with insomnia. There are times where I can't sleep at all for 3 entire days no matter how exhausted or tired I feel. And that is without any caffeine or other stimulants. When that happens sometime on the 4th day I usually will sleep 10 to 12 hours and then be back to my normal 6 to 7 hours of sleep per night for weeks before it happens again.
John Michael Godier does space videos too and his last about 30-45 mins and people have been commenting about faling asleep to his videos for as long as I've been a subscriber.
LMAO i always watch his videos and tbh when I space out for like 5 seconds I would not understand the rest of the video so I would just sleep if I'm tired enough
My childhood sleep tip💀: Dont sleep for 1 day😭then sleep next day and bcs you didn't get sleep last night u will probably sleep early and wake up early and it will be the same proceed
@@alonsoACR few months ago I used to get it almost everyday, sometimes twice a day, even in little naps 🥲 dk why, nowadays I don't get it at all. Phew 😮💨
Keeping my eyes open until they’re exhausted then opening them again and repeating a few times is a good way to get my eyes to stay shut when I feel restless.
Ive been doing this exact thing for years, down to saying "don't think" in my head over and over, without knowing this is a legit technique lol. I just figured out over a lifetime of difficulty falling asleep that this combination of things sometimes helps.Too bad it still doesnt work the majority of the time for me 😅 one of my biggest breakthroughs I've had towards falling asleep that isn't explicitly stated in this video is DONT MOVE. Not even slightly, not even to scratch an itch or reposition. Moving will ruin everything and reset any progress towards falling asleep that you had made. As for how I learned about the other parts of this sleep technique; relaxing muscle groups from head to toe is something we did in Yoga in highschool and then we would "meditate" (half the kids fell asleep) and I found that I usually started to feel sleepy from this too, though I could never fall asleep at school. I learned to take slow deep breaths with large amounts of time between breaths because of waking up many times in the night and observing that this is how my breathing naturally was when sleeping. And finally I learned to repeat "don't think" in my head out of frustration when memories of something embarassing or infuriating from 12 years ago kept popping into my head and spiking my heart rate 😊
exactly, everytime i try really hard to fall asleep on that exact position and visualizing smth i get horrible sleep paralysis that completely just ruins my night. i wonder why it does that in some of us.
@@fridaycaliforniaa236It is a terrifying demonic attack. People say its just a natural phenomenon, but its not. Every person who's experienced sleep paralysis all say the same thing - Something is sitting on top of you and restraining you/pushing you down. You just know that something/someone is there trying to harm you. It is a demonic attack.
broooo i was struggling for like 10 minutes BUT THEN I LITERALLY FELL ASLEEP JUST BELIEVE AND ONLY FOCUS ON SOMETHING THAT RELAXES THE MIND FORGET ANY OTHER THOUGHTS IN MIND THAT DISRUPT
hen he said think of something peaceful i thought of a rainforest and then the jungle started moving and toucans elephants tigers etc came and monkeys swinging in and a storm and animal noises filled my head
I just imagine myself as a character in a story of my favorite event/cdrama and make it up as i want! I instantly fall asleep and it works every time 😂
I used to do this too but over time I found that it stopped working and instead of actually falling to sleep I would just spend hours "daydreaming" like this. And then I realized that I had already learned this lesson in childhood! I had a sleep study done and when I woke up the Dr. asked if I slept and I said Yes, he asked if I dreamed and I said Yes. Then he told me No, you didn't. According to my brain waves I was awake the entire time! I had been playing in my head, I thought those were dreams and I was sleeping but nope.
i use my method which is literally just closing your eyes and imagining or reminiscing random thoughts in your head, you would be like "yo why the hell did i do that do that was so embarassing" or sum like that and you would fall asleep after a minute, figured it out whenever i stay up so late im still awake when my dad wakes up because of his early shift, i fake sleep and get bored so i think about things and i would eventually fall asleep, ive also learned a way of staying asleep even though ive been closing my eyes for a minute is by hiding one eye under the blanket and keep that eye open
Agree as someone with epilepsy I tried this once and I got 30+ seizures & auras it was an awful night also my mom always tells me to not sleep on my back it's bad for me.
I've had sleep paralysis a whole bunch of times and never saw anything scary, it's jut weird and kinda annoying not being able to move but some people make it sound way scarier than it actually is
What do you mean by trying to sleep like "this"? Like, don't sleep on your back to not induce sleep paralysis? Or to not do this method of "falling" asleep? I've been getting sleep paralysis from time to time and I'd like to know if it was because of my sleep position 😅
yeah thats why i always sleep on my side would rather my stomach and back be pinched than my sides... (srsly it really hurts when u even touch my sides lightly)
But sleep paralysis is fun. One time when staying at a hotel with my brother, I saw a very cool smoke monster standing over him sucking his soul out. When I told him about it later, we laughed so hard! Ok, while it was happening, I was scared to death...and also every other time it happened...I change my mind, it's not fun.
I used to get sleep paralysis almost every night, now that I kniw how to escape from them i have never experienced another sleep paralysis night. When you are in sleep paralysis your body is asleep and your brain is awake, start shaking your neck and head muscles fast and you will wake up the rest of your body, I did this 5 nights in a row and never ever had sleep paralysis again.
I’ve heard this before and was hyper skeptical but I tried it and now I found out it works almost perfectly!! Im almost never super tired because I get 8-10 hours of sleep every night. 10/10 would recommend
@@crustyflatonion9595 No, I am talking about working so hard, that you fall asleep automatically, at your body's natural call instead of your own wish.
@@vedantpatel5985 ah, you meant to actually destroy yourself. Yeah, not everybody can physically do that; and there are plenty of hard workers that have trouble falling asleep.. it's not as easy as it is for you.
This is called 'Savasan' (Corpse position) in Yoga. Also, any controlled breathing would work, too, like Box breathing (5-5-5-5), or some other ratios!
Been there done that end up on my couch at 3 am hoping to sleep until 9 .. I retired a year ago and thankfully don’t have to be up at 7 am anymore. Good luck 👍
Another way is mastering control of your heart rate. I was at work once and i keps fogging up my safety glasses with my breath so i thought. Ill just calm my breathing more. Got it down to very very small slow breaths... my whole body relaxed and i felt great. And legit blacked out till my face hit the control panel of the machine i was running.
I have ADHD and this help me actually sleep and I’m a kid so I’m actually happy. I always stay up until like 12 o’clock in the morning like 5 AM or something like that but I’m a kid in this work for me yay.❤
The "dont think" method is one i used to do whrn i was little to get rid off headaches bc after a while of saying dont think i forget why i was saying it and therefore forgeting i had a headache tricking my brain like idk the sience behind it but it works
When i was younger i did something similar to the firdt method but it was more kid friendly, when i wasnt able to sleep i would put some lavender drops on my tounge then i would tense up my body. I said goodnight individually to each body part, for example 'goodnight wrists' and i would relax my wrist, and i start and my face then go all the way to my toes. It really worked for me
I just naturally fall asleep within 1-2 minutes. I'm not sure if this is because I am extra tired or extra lazy. I just try not to nap the entire day. So the moment I reach my bed and lie down, I instantly start falling asleep.
