Pablo Ramirez is an expatriate from the Caribbean nation of Santa Cruz that is under control of a military dictator called the Generalissimo. From New Orleans, Ramirez plots a revolution and his return to Santa Cruz. To assist in this and to protect him from the Santa Cruz secret police who are in New Orleans he seeks the help of Lamont Cranston through a mutual friend, jazz trumpeter Tony Alcade. In the midst of a telephone call to Cranston Tony is murdered by the secret police. Cranston and his metaphysical mentor Jogendra come to New Orleans to bring Tony's murderers to justice and freedom to Santa Cruz.
Though no one knows the identity of the crime fighting trouble shooter The Shadow who has telephatic powers, everyone knows that he can be contacted for help through Lamont Cranston. As Cranston protects Pablo from secret police assassination and kidnapping attemps, the Generalissimo broadcasts the execution of Pablo's twin brother that is shown on television in the United States in a scheme to draw Pablo into the open.

Harbo Empires Productions Howe was one of the greatest and most innovative Hollywood cinematographers. Here's a little side note- his marriage to a white woman, Sanora Babb, was not recognized by the state of California until 1948, when the anti-miscegenation laws were finally repealed there. She was blacklisted for her political views, and Howe was "graylisted", which may explain his working on many low-budget films despite his prodigious achievements in the industry.

Thought transmissions, and receiving?? Whaaa🤔??? NOT, in any 'The Shadow' short stories that, I know of. None of that, is ever mentioned. When I was a kid, I had 'The Shadow' series on LPs, and not once was this brought up. Turning invisible?? INVISIBLE?? Whaaa🤨??? This isn't, 'The Invisible Man'. Wait, is there a difference between, the 1940's Shadow, and this one (1958)? It's either, this is how it is, or I totally don't recall (as it's been approx, 50 years, since I listened to those records). Lamont Cranston, was just like Bruce Wayne, a rich ordinary man, who fought crime. And without any dumb-ass, special, superhero power's🙄!!! What I mean, who needs that special powers, crude crap anyways?? Superheroes are for children (or adults who haven't grown up, yet🤭), of which everyday life, ain't exciting enough for them. Yes, those kids😏, heh-heh. What Americans need today, is a supervillain to exact equality, since our so-called superheroes, are screwing us over, left and right. @35:20. Since when, do they televise executions, in the United States? An iceberg, in the Caribbean🤔?

It essentially clogs the comment space with unnecessary stuff. I have seen the uploader of the actual video do this, why I don't know because they are already getting alerted to comments. What it does is it makes others do the same commentless comment. I see you put a 'Delete' for them, but it looks like you have started a bad thing by allowing a comment without a comment. Lamont Cranston was the Shadow's favorite disguise (of course I'm still talking about the pulp magazine). From Wiki .... The Shadow Alter ego Kent Allard (print) Lamont Cranston (radio, film and television) Notable aliases Lamont Cranston (print) Henry Arnaud (print) Isaac Twambley (print) Fritz the Janitor (print) I get the impression you haven't read the pulps. I once found them in text form by using a Google search. I like the pulps better than the radio show.
@bjbell52
@bjbell52 Год назад
@@jjennings6161 Here, read this... Who The Shadow is another matter people are unclear on. If they are familiar with the later radio show, they think he’s millionaire Lamont Cranston. But we who read the pulps know that’s not the case. In the second pulp story, he appears as Lamont Cranston. Then in the third story, Lamont Cranston returns from traveling abroad and is confronted by himself! It appears that The Shadow had been using Cranston’s identity to move within high society, and they come to an understanding. The real Cranston will travel abroad, allowing The Shadow to use his identity. This works out fine, until six years later Cranston is injured and The Shadow is forced to bring back his real identity, WWI aviator and spy Kent Allard. Which, to me, explains The Shadow as spymaster. Cranston would even occasionally show up and help out The Shadow. (Some feel that the later Bruce Elliot stories were really Cranston being a detective while The Shadow is elsewhere - works for me!) You should learn more about a topic before posting. The Shadow is a character from the 30s and 40s ... and setting it in the 50s like here is too much modernising IMO. The "magic effects" are great BUT the lack of the classic costume AND the "bemused" instead of "threatening" shadow voice give an overall negative impression and the plot involves far too many indirect threats (the "dictator" and "revolution" dont really concern the hero and just serve the purpose of "big threatening atmosphere".
@elwoodjacobs4353
@elwoodjacobs4353 Год назад
I haven't watched it yet as I type this, so I can't speak on the subject of this film's quality, but I wholeheartedly agree with you on the subject of the lack of the classic Shadow costume in this film. Some might argue that the Shadow never wore his costume on the radio program as it would be pointless because he's always invisible to his enemies, but in *EVERY* one of the vintage print ads promoting the radio program, the Shadow is illustrated in his famous wide brim hat, cloak, cape, & scarf (or at the very least he'd have his face tucked into his shirt collar from the nose down), so that is how they wanted you to visualize the Shadow in the program. It's an interesting take to just have him turn invisible without any sort of outfit, but it's not a particularly welcomed one.
